I've gone my whole life seemingly on a diet. My first big loss was 7 years ago doing Atkins. Lost 70 lbs but gained it all back once I started eating carbs. This is how I hope MFP will work for me this time around. I can eat pretty much what I want, just by eating at a deficit.

Also with the recipe function, if you have a smartphone it's easier to do it that way. I just use the scan function on the recipe creator on my phone while I'm making the recipe. Quick and easy, then you just have to guestimate how many servings it is.

I have a HRM and have found that if I run on the treadmill I burn a little more than the elliptical. If I walk on the treadmill, the elipitical is the winner.

I lost tons of weight on it years ago but gained it all back plus some and I swear more went to my butt! You don't count calories but you do have to count your carbs. Much easier limiting portions and counting calories on here. You can't tell me that having bacon and eggs for breakfast on Atkins every single day is healthy.

That goal looks pretty reasonable. I also exercise 5-6 days a week for minimally 1/2 hr and use a HRM.

For my first 5k I ran it in 38 minutes. This was at a slow jog with about 2 min of walking total. The C25K app is good for training to get you there.
