  • Bumping - got a team together now we just need to come up with a name!
  • Penge! In Bromley SE20
  • Thank you everyone for your kind words - really appreciated! :flowerforyou:
  • I find walking really helps. With the action of walking the muscles around the stomach and digestive track work to massage the food through your system (aids peristalsis in the medical jargon) so a good walk is really helpful for your body. I find walking also helps deal with heartburn (not sure why, but works for me).…
  • That's fantastic progress, well done :flowerforyou:
  • I like this one: http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/1237/easy-coronation-chicken.aspx They suggest half mayo and half creme fraîche to lower the calories, but I find using less mayo in general is nicer and chutney has fewer calories than mayo too, so can boost with that as well. I also use light mayonnaise as you can't really…
  • Crystal Palace sports centre has pay as you go classes at very good rates, pilates, aerobics, balance ball, spinning - something for everyone. I would recommend it.
  • Love it - Rule One is pretty much my mantra now
  • Yep, 5'1" with 132 lb to loose, I've been on MFP for nearly a year (1st July) and it's really worked for me. Add me if you like although be aware that I keep my food diary private as I feel I know what I'm doing with food. I make it all myself from fresh and am happy with that, I eat low carb and high protein by which I…
  • I'm very short 5' 1, and therefore can only eat 1290 if I want to loose weight (which I do), so yes, I eat back my exercise calories otherwise I feel very deprived - not to mention the health benefits you gain from being active! I usually leave a margin of about 200 calories of exercise calories uneaten as I don't work…
  • I run The Mammal Society in the UK, mostly I just talk about animals these days, but I got to hold a pygmy shrew last week which was very exciting. If you want to work in conservation the best way in is still volunteering I'm afraid, but you can do it part time with a paying job to cover the bills the rest of the time and…
  • I haven't had chocolate since Christmas so I thought if I'm going to have an egg it will be a good one. I bought a Rococo Easter egg stuffed with ganaches and I will be enjoying the lot guilt free tomorrow
  • London - Penge;-)
  • And remember, if it isn't working for you, you can always go back to your previous strategy. I had a real mental block for a while and worried about eating more calories and gaining weight, and it did happen a couple of times, but I've realised that I can tweak and change things endlessly, I might not loose for a week or…
  • Hi I'm from the Kent side of London, feel free to add me too. I love swimming and pretty much do that and walking as my only exercise:happy:
  • As previous posters have said it's a very individual thing. I find that I get really bad heartburn from anything that is high in carbs, including bread and pastas. Pasta is the absolute worst for me! I've been tested for gluten intolerance and I'm okay so it isn't the gluten BTW.
  • That's great, well done
  • Non Scale Victory
  • If you're interested there's a South London MFP walking group meeting this Sunday at Crystal palace. More info here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/437522-weekend-walking-club-bromley-beckenham-area?page=1#posts-6402213
  • I'll be there
  • A similar thing happened to me, I started swimming quite seriously in August and lost the grand total of 1/4 lb that whole month, with sensible eating, just a little under every day, eating back half of my exercise calories. Then suddenly I had a huge drop of 6lb, which was something of a relief. So don't worry, it will…
  • I got the inserts for my shoes which gave partial relief, but what really worked for me was a pair of MBT's (Google them) they're expensive but their shape takes the pressure off the heel and I found I could walk so much more easily in them. I also found, after 5 months of babying my feet that a few days of long, but slow…
  • H2O is H2O even if it is in orange juice or coffee or any other beverage. It doesn't matter how you take it in you will still be getting the benefit of the water. You might want to think about the other chemicals mixed with the water in the other drinks though and consider whether you want to add those to your body or not…
  • Yes it is entirely possible and what I did in my first 2 months, but you'll find that you start noticing all the other MFP'ers doing fun stuff and start wondering about it. Things like C25K (Couch to 5K) crops up a lot and is a very easy way to get into running. So in the end you'll probably land up taking up some…
  • Oh I like the sound of that I'm definitely going to try it!
  • I had/ have this same problem till I found the book, Eating Less: Say Goodbye to Overeating by Gillian Riley, which is full of coping strategies for how to deal with compulsive eating. This book really did change my life, and has so much in it which I can't précis into a short reply.
