That sounds great but expensive. Which trainers are those? I have birthday coming up.....
-
I see this all the time and just have to giggle.
-
I have done it but it does make my batty after a while.

The smell is bacteria. I had that problem a lot last year. I'd put on a clean shirt and as soon as I started sweating, the shirt would stink like nobody's business. It's not you, it's the clothes. Someone suggested putting vinegar in the wash and I have been doing it since. It hasn't completely eliminated the issue but it…

I don't know about the pain but, for whatever it's worth, training on a indoor bike (even on your road bike on a trainer), will not prepare you to race on the road. The conditions couldn't be more different. You need to either get over your fear or drive out somewhere with less traffic and ride your road bike there. The…

I'm going to go ahead and say you'd benefit more from one with a chest strap. As far as syncing, you don't do anything. If the strap is compatible with the equipment, the equipment will pick up on it's own. I believe Polar cardio equipment accepts the Sportline straps.
-
Does it have a chest strap and does it take your heart rate into account to calculate the calories? If it is only the type you have to put your fingers against to see your heart rate then it's useless, IMO. Those are goods for doing things like weight training when you don't need constant monitoring but not for cardio. I…

I'm sure someone is going to disagree with me but, in my opinion, the 30 Day Shred isn't really something a complete couch potato, so to speak, can just up and do. I think you have to have some level of fitness to be able to get through it. The first time I tried the Shred, a long time ago, I thought I was going to die…

Let me tell you, the opposite is not good either! I'm basically a ruler leaning towards an inverted triangle a lot. My arms look huge and I'm definitely wider on top though I don't have a very large bust (normal I'd say). I hate it.

It all depends on when I have time. During the summer though, I usually run in the early evening. When I ride, I do so in the morning and I do the shred before or after those workouts so morning or evening. That said, whenever I can find time would be more accurate. I have a 3 year old, a house, I'm a full time student and…

That is old information. Stretching on cold muscles can actually lead to more injuries. If you must stretch before exercise, do either dynamic stretches or a bit of cardio for a few minutes and then stretch. Stretching after exercise is more useful (for those who find it useful at all) and safer.
-
Only if you do dynamic stretches. Stretching on cold muscles is not recommended. To be fair, I rarely stretch and I don't notice any difference when I do.
-
This week so far, 2792. I still have my long run to do today and the shred, which will add another 840 or so.
-
OP, how long have you been running? If you are farily new, I'd stay away from speed-work and work on increasing mileage and endurance. Also, as a previous poster commented, calorie burn is not/should not be the point of intervals.
-
Yes, when you lose weight you also lose visceral fat and that, I think, is what makes you healthier.
-
I run 4 times a week because my schedule doesn't allow me to run more often. Some people run 5, 6 or even 7 days a week but one rest day a week is recommended. If you are going to add running days (increase frequency), don't increase mileage at the same time. I run anywhere from 3 or 4 miles to 12 so far but I"m working on…

I've been wondering but I can't hear it.
-
It also depends on how you are calculating the calories burned. Plugging in a time and weight on a website is wildly inaccurate and nearly always overestimates by a whole lot. A heart rate monitor is really the best way, IMO.
-
Running I think burns the most. Spinning is close behind (at least for me). I burn about 80 calories per (running) mile so in an easy hour's run, I burn about 500. I run 4 days a week, anywhere from 4 to 13 miles, that's a lot of calories. When I ride, I ride anywhere from 25 to 60 miles. A 25 mile easy ride burns about…
-
I use a heart rate monitor (Garmin 310xt), not this website's calculator so I don't know what that would say. ETA: I just checked and it says I burn 200 calories. I think not!

You don't HAVE to eat them but eating them won't stop you from losing weight. You should not force-feed yourself just to reach a calorie number. Eat if you are hungry, don't eat if you are not. I'm referring to the calorie surplus that comes from exercise. Unless you are exercise a great deal, you don't need to eat all the…

and yes, she's annoying! At the beginning of workout 1, when she's saying that if you want to look like Natalie you need to do what she does and you'll be there in no time, she then says "Sure..." and it sounds to me very sarcastic, like "yeah right!" LOL Maybe it's just me.
-
I'm fairly fit. I'm a runner and a cyclist doing the shred for the strength workouts and i'm not really concerned with the amount of calories it burns (for me). It's sort of cross training for me. I was mostly wondering about people who only do the shred but I guess it works!

It is not uncommon for runners to vomit during/after a run, especially races. Unfortunately, we are "blessed" with all sorts of GI issues. If I feel like I'm going to throw up during a run, it's usually because I'm pushing myself hard, it's hot and/or drank too much water. I stop for a little bit (a minute tops) and…

I don't aim for any specific number, I just do whatever I"m supposed to that day workout-wise. Some days I burn a lot, other days I burn nothing. THe only days I go over 1000 calories is when I do 50+ mile rides or when I do 12+ mile runs. My weekly total is rarely over 3500.
-
You can use the Garmin for cycling too. I do not have a cycling specific computer but use either the Garmin 405cx or the 310xt. Even if you don't use it as a GPS, you can still use it as a heart rate monitor.
-
You can do it! I got into running with c25k too and I didn't think I could run 5k at the end but I did. The adrenaline really does carry you the rest of the distance you hadn't run before. Good luck! YOU CAN DO IT!
-
Holy cow! I'd be hard-pressed to eat that much in a day. Yikes.
-
Not necessarily. In the greater scheme of (cycling) things, 60 miles is not like say the equivalent of a marathon. If the OP is fuels throughout the ride, he'd be OK. No need to carbo load (which I don't believe does anything at any rate). He will need to eat during the ride but I'm sure he knows that :) OP, good luck on…

How are those calories calculated? Sounds like an awful lot for a 60 mile ride, even at 18+ mph.
