  • Its hard, especially when you have money worries. It's true it doesn't necessarily cost to eat healthily, but I do find the stress can get to you and distract you from your goals. I find MFP is great for keeping myself motivated and managing my fitness. Also its good you can look back to times when what you were doing was…
  • Turned 45 yesterday, feel free to add me. at the moment eating clean, trying to eat more, no alcohol (big change for me) and weight training.
  • I would say : absolutely nothing you can do. She's an adult , she makes her choices, if she can get type II diabetes and that doesn't serve as a wake up call you certainly aren't going to get her to change. My father (now 83) has Type II also, likewise I tried to advise him on diet etc it just didn't work, pretty much food…
  • For goodness sake she's not an object! If someone hits on her the only way to deal with it in my book is for her to politely say she's taken and reject the guy before it gets out of hand. She doesn't need her other half to speak for her (or worse!). This seems like a situation where you wouldn't win, if you hadn't done…
  • totally hate it when people eat at their desks, its totally inappropriate. Food gets dropped all over the keyboard. Isn't that why we take breaks, so we can eat????
  • I love it! Its totally sexy! plus my husband pushes me over my limits makes me break those plateaus!
  • Kind of expected the thread to go this way. Although I thought more a mars bar or something. Gotta work. Failing that just give him bigger servings and maybe put some sauces and gravy's on his plate, or grated food, and really don't worry so much. Give him a milkshake/protein shake or something with his dinner.
  • love it! he probably IS having an affair what a brilliant explanation! :)
  • Gosh there are some really mean people on these boards. And I don't mean the OP. I personally think it was kind of a set up too, she obviously wanted to judge you otherwise she wouldn't have wanted to look at the photo. Who knows why people do the things they do? In retrospect you probably should have followed your…
  • I don't think its too complicated, just lift as heavy as you can (i.e. you should be able to do up to about 10 reps). If you go too light you will know it as you can do more than 10 and it feels too easy. If you go too heavy your form will suffer and you could cause damage. Its a case of trial and error, try a light weight…
  • I was told the casein stuff was better for building muscle over night. Just bought some Dessert Protein from USN which mixes like a mousse and you eat just before you go to bed (I have banana caramel flavour). As I've just started weight training again I thought I'd give it a try.
  • I gave up about a month ago, as likewise just couldn't get any results. It worked , it made a difference and its made a difference to my mental health, I'm feeling so unstressed and laid back. You can't go wrong giving it up. And anyway, you can try a month off if it doesn't make a difference start again its not…
  • I have had a love affair with wine all my life and just gave it up. I haven't drunk any in a month, at least. Reason being i bought some scales and started weighing myself every day. If I even have one glass of wine the next day I'm at least 1 kg heavier. It's not just the calories , its more complex than that. It causes…
  • I think you need to lose your friends, at least for six months or so to get used to your new lifestyle. You'll never do it sitting there watching them. Its like an alcoholic hanging out in a pub every night trying to give up drink. You'll crack. Then you'll be down on yourself. You'll get into a really unhealthy mental…
  • I just bought some Dessert Protein by USN. It looks great, I'm not a gib dessert person but it seems a good way to get in some late night slow absorbed protein. Its like a protein shake but you mix it into a mousse apparently. Other than that I always find a nice cup of tea (been living in England too long I think ! :) )…
  • I did it beg 2012, religiously, did the food and the workouts. At the time I was disappointed in my results but looking back I think it was good. I felt very positive at the end, and felt it was a good way to start off in a gym. (although I've worked out in gyms for years). Its a good way to learn the fitness/bodybuilding…
  • See I'm really confused here . On the one hand we're supposed to encourage healthy eating, in foods, childcare providers , everywhere. On the other hand I'm a "food militant" because i don't want my daughter fed lollies, chocolate, cakes and junk every time she has a play date or goes to a school holiday club. I'm with the…
  • I guess what I put didn't come out very well because I am so angry. My daughter has now been on holiday for three weeks and she has been given chocolate, ice creams, sweets you name it EVERY DAY by other people. My whole point is its not being kept for special treats its every time, every day. So I have to be the mean…
  • you can add me, I'm 1200 and reasonably clean eater.
  • love the OP. My mother was Dutch it really brings back memories. apple sauce with all sorts of things, like mashed potato! I'm from NZ so we don't have much cuisine i miss. Kumara (NZ sweet potato) is the main one, and the mussels you buy actual live and farmed in the supermarket, huge much bigger than European ones.
  • I find cardio has a really good side effect of curbing hunger for some reason maybe its all the endorphins rushing through your body. Plus if I've exercised I am more conscious of not wanting to have wasted all that effort. Failing that a nice crisp apple is a good snack, its not going to put you too much over if its…
  • simple - I will not regain the weight that I lost because I will weight myself every week and if I see the scales go up I will immediately address the issues causing this. In other words constantly monitor it.
  • "That's terrible Muriel!!!"
  • best to buy a little stack, I got one at Tesco's for £20 I have 1kg, 1.5kg and 3 kg. Normally use the 3kg but need the 1.5kg too. I used to do the whole thing with 5 kg weights but I'm finding I have better form with the smaller weights.

  • You're really too young to be worried about dressing "too young". They're fine, as long as just for casual . Wouldn't wear them to the office or anything but for casual daytime is ok.
  • USN diet whey its really creamy and tasty and low carb.
  • definitely a woman who likes to lift, maybe a reasonably smart woman.
  • i'm on week 2. Its my second time doing it. My favourite Jillian dVD so far.
  • I am 44 and could never do push ups in my life until I did 30 day shred with Jillian. All those planks etc and now I can do pushups.
  • Keep it simple. Avoid alcohol. drink lots of water. try to increase your activity, even 30 min walk a day obviously eat only healthy high nutrient food, veges, lean meats, fish. just a simple diet, maybe eggs and toast / pure cereal such as oatmeal for breakfast. lunch a simple sandwich of lean meat and salad (can buy a…
