Good to know!

I made this last week and it was so good! http://paleomg.com/sugar-detox-sweet-potato-ice-cream-toasted-walnuts/ I skipped the nuts since I can't tolerate them, but it was delicious nonetheless. It tasted like a cold sweet potato pie, which I guess might not appeal to everyone, but I was into it.

When I used to eat oatmeal, my sugar levels would crash about an hour later(pretty much goes for any cereal). I would start shaking, sweating, the whole 9 yards. I felt much better once I started eating protein based meals.

I don't have particularly high stress levels, though I am not a very calm person. I definitely know when stress is getting to me. However, whatever is going on in my body goes way beyond just a stress response. I know I need to try and relax and not be so high strung but it's so much harder said than done!

You know, the funny thing is that I am pretty compliant when it comes to actual meals. It's the between meal stuff that gets me. Some days are great, others not so much. This weekend I am going to prepare some paleo foods to have in the fridge so if I am hungry I will force myself to eat that and not junk. A lot of the…

What makes sticking to Paleo harder for me is that I can't eat eggs or nuts, so I always feel like I have nothing to snack on. I know, I know, I have to make the commitment and just do it. I am not looking for a way out, so don't misunderstand what seems like excuses. I have done the whole 30 but I am so bad at prepping…

I know carbs and sugars are my enemy. The funny thing is last year I did a sugar/carb detox and did great. I even managed to do a whole 30. But for some reason now I am finding it so hard to be compliant. Every day I start out with the best of intentions and I usually do well until mid afternoon when the munchies hit. I do…

Any opinions on hemp protein powder? I can not tolerate why protein or egg white protein. From what I see all that's in the hemp powder is hemp and the specs are pretty nice. Opinions?

Aww, I am so sorry for all that you have been going through. I am so glad the attempt on your life was not successful. I can't even imagine the anguish you must have been feeling to even get to that place. I will pray that you can climb out of the dark pit and put the pieces of your life back together again. I know you can…

Yes, it really is a great alternative to regular whipped cream!

My dr has me taking 1 TBS liquid fish oil a day. The serving size on the bottle is for 1 tsp. That contains 1600 mg omega 3's - 800 mg EPA / 500 mg DHA plus 300 mg of other omega 3's. So I guess I am taking 3 times that amount.

I've been using the ESV(English Standard Version) and I like it a lot. It's language is like NIV but it's more of a literal translation, which is why I like it.

I always add carrots, celery, and onion to my stock. I don't think you have to add veggies, it just adds another dimension of flavor I guess. I never had broth without it so I don't know what it tastes like.
-
My dr wants me to drink a cup a day to help with my digestive issues. Supposedly the broth has gut healing properties. I wanted to buy that fish sauce from Nom Nom Paleo but it's crazy expensive!

I just had some and it was yummy! So from now on I will roast the bones first.

Chicken - whole, thighs, boneless breasts. Pork tenderloins. Ground beef/turkey. Steaks. Shrimp, salmon, other types of fish fillets. Baby spinach, garlic, ginger, carrots, frozen broccoli, frozen cauliflower, frozen green beans(sometimes I buy these fresh too). Cucumbers, bell peppers, salad greens. Olive oil, avocado…

My dr has me following The Perfect Health Diet, which is basically Paleo with allowances for some white rice and potatoes. It is a moderate carb diet, but there are also low carb versions. I'm in the middle of the book now and it's loaded with scientific info. It's all very interesting.
-
This is great info! I rarely eat at Panera because there really isn't anything on the menu I can eat.
-
It all sounds so yummy! I normally make something chocolatey but alas it is one of my IBS trigger foods so I have to find other things to make. Unfortunately nuts are also an IBS trigger so that eliminates most paleo treats since they're made with almond flour.

I've been at 19-20% for a long time and would love to drop a few % points. Really trying to clean up my diet and upping my workout intensity.
-
Thanks for clearing things up for me. There's just so much information out there and it can get confusing.
-
So if you 're still eating your allotted calories, then what's the point of the fast? Shouldn't people naturally just eat when hungry?

I have been reading a lot about IF. Part of me is struggling with skipping meals, thinking that it can be a glorified form of anorexia. You always hear anorexics talk about how good it feels to not eat, how thin and flat their stomachs are, etc. I do realize that it is a mental disorder, but is it possible that we can get…

As a Christian, I don't get behind the evolution stuff, but I can get behind the premise of this way of eating. I don't really want to label it as a diet, which implies something temporary for weight loss, but as a lifestyle. I can get behind eating whole, nutritious foods. I believe our diets should be whole food based…

In addition to the rotisserie chicken idea, I also keep cans of tuna in the house for when I can't cook. I add it on top of salad greens with olive oil and vinegar.

I found a recipe for cube steak and made it last not. I was not impressed. The meat was kind of chewy. And, yes, the pack is all beef, just different cuts. In addition to the cube steaks, there's ground beef, rib eye steak, sirloin tip roast(another thing which I am not sure how to cook), stew meat, chuck roast, and NY…

The last time I saw my dr I mentioned that I cut out grains and she didn't say anything but I sort of felt like I had to defend myself. I am going to see a functional medical practitioner next week to deal with ongoing digestive issues so it will be interesting to see what he thinks about all this. But I am glad that some…

Stick with veggies and fruit and avoid anything boxed or canned. I have been shopping more at whole foods, which is not cheap but most of their produce is organic. As far as restaurants, I try to eat places where I can get a piece of meat or fish and know they will accomodate my dietary needs, like not cooking it in…

Sounds good but I can't have dairy. I bet I could still do something like that minus the cheese.

I'm trying my best.
