Stronglifts 5x5 for women?
I'm currently in stage 5 of new rules of lifting for women. I'm looking ahead to what I'm going to do next. I came across stronglifts and it looks interesting. I see that it's aimed at men but can women do it too? Also, is it easy to do at home? I have a home gym so I don't have any machines or cables. I have an olympic…

AIP Paleo
So in my journey to heal my digestive issues, I came across the book Digestive Health with Real Food. It just came out. It's written by a dietitian. She knows her stuff. It's all about leaky gut, FODMAPS, SIBO, IBS, etc etc. It's great. The downside is that I am on a strict elimination diet for the next 4-6 weeks. I can…

I found coconut milk without additives!
I found a brand in World Market called Tiger Tiger. The only ingredients are coconut and water. I haven't used this brand before so I can't vouch for it's taste, but I thought I'd at least share my find.

BBQ Sauce?
I need help finding a paleo bbq sauce. I really love KC Masterpiece but it has HFCS in it! Is there anything that tastes like that on the market without hfcs or non-paleo ingredients?

Peeps!
Ugh, I just ate one. I totally regret it because it was so gross. I wish I could throw it up and get my calories back.

Paleo meal
I just sauteed some chicken patties and thought I'd share. I took 2 pounds of ground chicken, 1 cooked sweet potato(no skin), shredded zucchini and carrot, chopped baby spinach, some herbs/spices. I sauteed in coconut oil. Yum. The flavor possibilities are endless since chicken takes to flavors so well. I just used onion…

Bone broth jello!
I finally got my broth to be gelatinous. I know it wasn't anything I did, really, except use different bones. I had been using marrow bones from Whole Foods but this time I used bones I had been saving up from several meals(most came from beef short ribs). I just took it out of the fridge to scoop off the fat and it was…

Having such a hard time
Here I go again. I really need some encouragement. I am supposed to be doing strict Paleo. Not just for dieting reasons but per my doctor's instructions to figure out what's messing up my digestive system. I saw him in january at $300 then paid for a $400 stool test and also had a complete blood panel. I was ready to go. I…

Whole Foods coconut milk
I bought two cans last week because I was going to make coconut whipped cream this past weekend for a gluten free cake I made. I stuck the cans in the fridge for a couple days prior in order to thicken the cream. But when I opened the can I was disappointed to see that the cream did not thicken up and separate from the…

Making bone broth again
Since my first attempt at making bone broth was a complete disaster I was a bit apprehensive about trying again. My dr really wants me to drink it every day so I got some bones from whole foods yesterday and tried again. This time I roasted the bones to release a lot of the fat. See, last time I skipped this step and my…

Paleo Valentine's treats
What is everyone doing for V-Day? I decided to make a strawberry coconut milk ice cream. I can't eat chocolate or nuts so baked goods are out so I decided to try this instead. It's still churning, but so far it tastes pretty good.

Portabello mushroom "lasagna"
I made this last night. It's something I had made years ago when I was new to low carb dieting. It's so easy to make and very delicious. I cleaned the gills out of some portabello mushrooms. I filled each cap with 1/4 cup ricotta cheese(I used non fat to cut down on the cals, but if you want less carbs, use low or full…

Getting a bunch of meat tomorrow, yay!
I placed an order with a local farm for one of their "family packs". It's 18 pounds of assorted grass fed meats. I figure it's a good way to find out what I like and don't like. I'll probably put some of it right into the fridge for meals this week. The only thing that's in the pack that I don't know what to do with is…

Anyone want to buy my groupon for On-Ramp classes?
I bought this Groupon months ago thinking I would use it but their schedule just doesn't work with mine right now. It expires at the end of March and groupon won't refund my money at this point. I have no choice but to use it or lose it or get someone to buy it off of me. I paid $29 for 6 on-ramp classes(normally $100),…

Made a bone broth but it's disgusting!
I made a broth this weekend in my crockpot using beef marrow bones and some veggies. The smell is so disgusting it makes me want to vomit. I let it sit in my fridge overnight so I could skim the fat, which I did but I still gagged when my nose went near it. I can't even taste it! And now my crockpot smells like it too. Am…

Anyone from Wake Forest?
Just wondering...

What do you eat for breakfast?
This is the hardest meal for me. I am used to having smoothies for breakfast and I am trying to eat real food. The problem is that I don't always have food prepared nor the time to cook something. I can't eat eggs because they give me stomach aches(nor do I even like them). Maybe I can get some inspiration from you guys?

Fell off the wagon :(
It's been a bad week. I guess I could blame it on PMS but the blame lays squarely on myself for allowing myself to eat things that aren't good for me. I had popcorn earlier in the week, then tortilla chips at the end of the week. I think the worst offense was the dark chocolate m&ms I ate yesterday. I'm not talking just a…

Anyone have to be on a FODMAPS diet in addition to paleo?
I have suffered with IBS all my life. I first eliminated wheat and then all grains a few months ago. I realized I was putting myself on a paleo diet so I did the research and made a complete switch to paleo. My digestive issues have not abated so I saw a registered dietitian today. She suggested I try the FODMAPS diet.…

Sharing a recipe for chicken meatball soup
Last year I tore out a recipe from Family Circle magazine for chicken meatball soup. It's delicious but not paleo friendly so I decided to make it so. It was still yummy! Since soup season is apparently upon us(at least it is here this week in NC) I decided to share my creation with you. You need about 48 oz of chicken…

I need a new workout routine...
I don't belong to a gym and I workout at home. I have been doing various routines but I am not getting the results I want. What I don't want is a routine that takes me an hour to complete. I did New Rules and while good, was too time consuming for me. I'd like a workout that focuses on lifting heavy but isn't time…

Excited for my mom
So I have finally convinced my mom to drop the grains. I have been full on paleo for 4 weeks, thanks to the whole 30 challenge. My mom is overweight, is borderline diabetic, has high cholesterol, and has high blood pressure, and some other medical issues. She has been taking Crestor for her cholesterol but she believes…

Soy sauce?
I am currently doing the Whole 30 and soy sauce is prohibited. Is it allowed as part of a regular paleo diet? I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

Sugar cravings won't end!
I am two weeks into my Whole 30 and I wish I could say that my cravings for anything sweet has vanished. I have done a no sugar thing before but this in conjunction with the elimination of just about everything else I love is so hard. I haven't cheated with sweets but I did plow through a bag of dried fruit and nut mix.…

Gluten free bread
I made this today: http://www.elanaspantry.com/paleo-bread/ I think it's pretty awesome. It's not like traditional bread in both taste and size, but I think it's a great alternative to store bought gf breads.

buy books or just rely on websites?
I want to be more versed in paleo cooking. I know there are tons of internet resources, many of which I have already bookmarked. I want to know if it's worth it to invest in an actual cookbook, such as Make it Paleo(from the website the food lovers kitchen). Any thoughts?

I think I blew my whole 30 today :(
I was doing pretty good until today, I broke into a bag of trail mix. I know dried fruits are ok in moderation but I feel like I had too much. I guess I was really craving something sweet. Oh well, upward and onward!

Prayer request
Hello ladies. I have an urgent prayer request. My friend's nearly 3 year old daughter was just diagnosed with ETANTR, a very rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. There is little hope of survival and treatment options are minimal. They took her home today. Without any treatment they drs give her a year to live. We are…
