  • Has anyone read Wheat Belly? I'm on Weight Watchers, but I've heard a lot of good things about the GF lifestyle. I have 80 pounds to lose (actually 70 now!) and this just seems like the right time to be gentley moving in that direction.
  • I think alot of the "boring" comes from eating the same things. Those of us on a VERY limited budget, but want to eat right, typically eat the same things over and over because we know we like them, we know they're healthy, and we know exactly how much we need to budget to afford them. I also think the "boring" comes from…
  • I've always carried my weight in my stomach so this is the hardest area for me. Pilates has worked wonders. Stomach crunches really aren't enough. You need exercises that will work your entire core. Starting my own 30 day shred tonight. Hopefully it will be a good combination...
  • I agree with everyone that you MUST get fit at a running store (NOT ****'s Sports, etc) and they can give you options. I was presented with three options and ended up with the Mizuno Wave Runner shoes. Brooks and Saucony also have great shoes that are light, but very supportive. In addition to our weight, they also take…
  • I'm going to start with 70 pounds, but ultimately, it will most likely be 100. Support is always a good thing!
  • Tuna fillet is as delicious as steak and I don't miss the steak. For Salmon I like to use a bit of butter/margarine/whatever you use and sprinkle lemon pepper on it. Broil/bake at 30 until pinky/brown. Very delicious.
  • Running while you still have quite a bit of weight to lose is NEVER fun. However, other than the initial investment in a supportive pair of shoes (get professionally fitted) it's basically free. I run because I can't afford gym memberships and didn't really use them when I had them. My own personal measure has been…
  • I have been trying to teach myself to eat a new vegtable a year since I was in my mid twenties. This year is tomatos. Still can't eat them raw. I think it's ok to only eat a few, the challenge then becomes finding new creative ways to prepare the ones you enjoy. Personally yogurt and avocado make me gag. Cannot eat them.…
  • I've never gotten bad looks at the gym - but every time I go I walk out wishing I had something better to wear. I realize that no one wants to see skin tight outfits on someone out of shape (any more than I want to wear them), but WHY WHY WHY can't there be comfortable "training" clothes for those of us that want to…
  • I agree that healthy sugars are ok - apples are high sugar and I don't know anyone that is "unhealthy" for eating apples. However, I'd watch the processed sugar. The nutrigrain bars are very high in sugar, and while I am all about portable food, my weight loss seems to slow significantly when I'm high sugar - especially…

  • For a good medium roast I like Doughnut Shop Decaf and Millstone Hazelnut. Both I think have plenty of flavor without the need to add creamer or sugar...
