  • I always grill my romaine!! Brush cut side of head with olive oil, add salt and pepper, grill very briefly, then add manchego or parm and dressing. I make a roasted garlic-buttermilk dressing for this (to be used in moderation of course  ).
  • I do that plus a cup of coconut milk
  • AW! Mine loves bananas! Like, he can hear me break a banana off from the bunch and comes running for his share  Edit to say: Golden Retrievers are the best!!!!!!!
  • I agree with drinking tons of water! And everything else already said. I use this cleanser: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000IOBEG2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A2YOV84IF03NL3 which is sort of pricey, but it lasts for months (I've had my current bottle since June, and I wash my face at least twice a day - it's still…
  • I definitely think this is a distinct possibility, but I have also recently seen studies showing a lack of absorption of nutrients when comparing non-grain eaters to grain eaters. Unfortunately, I cannot remember for the life of me where I read it. Anyone else see this? This interests me because I have pernicious anemia,…
  • Since people are always wondering about actual bloodwork changes from implementing this lifestyle... My husband just had his annual health assessment done today for his insurance through work, and compared it to his results from a year ago when he still ate grains/sugars (although we really had already cut most sugar). The…
  • marigold! Instructional Design here.
  • I'm basically primal, I still eat dairy. I cut all grains except for special occasions or rare cheat days, which usually happens if I go out to a restaurant with an awesome chef. I don't eat any processed foods (argh, hate the argument of what is processed vs. what is not - I'm talking about things that come prepared,…
  • As people have said, Applebee's has a pretty extensive "under 550 calories" menu, which is really cool for us trackers, but a good way to look at those options being on a menu is to immediately assume that everything else is probably way higher in calories! Sorry about the calorie-shock! Those dressing are killers!!!

  • I'm in! I just got the DVD, I did it once last week, then had finals and got sidetracked. It's a good workout!
  • Mini quiches with brie, apple, eggs, Dijon... and a little bit of nutmeg and pepper!
  • I'm 5'2" and my goal is 105-107. I have a very small frame, currently 23% body fat at 110 pounds, which doesn't look bad in clothes, but it's definitely "skinny fat" or whatever. I'd like to get to around 18% body fat, then I will really be at my goal... whatever weight that is. My highest weight was 135, and it was…

  • First of all, RangerSteve, I am not "paleo" or whathaveyou. I simply don't eat grains and sugar because I feel like crap when I do. I eat plenty of dairy, and consume many things that are not paleo-approved. I simply get irritated when people say "grains are good for you" and call people fad dieters because they don't eat…
  • bcattoes - sorry, I know you probably thought that was directed at you, but it really wasn't. I know what you mean, I've just seen so many inflammatory posts on this subject in the last couple days that I am wondering if everyone in the world's google and library cards are broken!! I personally do believe that grains cause…
  • Jeez, people, it seems most of the dissenters know absolutely nothing about "eating paleo" besides the five pages they've read on this message board. Why don't you do the actual research if you care that much to argue about it - I'm talking reading medical studies, etc., and maybe even, GEE I DON'T KNOW the actual paleo…
  • smoothies, soups, and my kale chips are awesome!! I like to make sausage and sweet potato soup with lots of kale, but you can throw it into almost any soup with good results.
  • This "cavegirl" drinks plenty o' wine with a steady stream of Beefeater thrown in for good measure!
  • Whoops, also meant to say that I have PCOS that is greatly improved, and weight drops pretty much effortlessly. I feel great!
  • Hi! I follow the primal diet, and don't eat grains or sugar - that really helps a lot! I usually average around 60g carbs per day, and 60g protein, with the rest coming from healthy fats. You should aim for about .7-1 gram of protein for every pound of lean body mass (actual weight minus body fat percentage, if you know).
  • Love it, feel better than I have in years. It's very healthy, people that don't know make the effort to research nutrition on their own are always the people who challenge it. Grains have very little nutritional value, and you can get everything you need from veggies/meats/fruit/nuts - usually with much lower calories and…

I wear: under armor cold weather tights under armor top pretty awesome waterproof windbreaker with a hood toboggan/headband for my poor ears windproof gloves a neck gaiter AND waterproof ankle gaiters (neck gaiter in case it gets too cold to breathe direct air, like I…
  • I've been following a primal lifestyle for a while now, which is basically no sugar/grains. I feel a million times better, and weight is dropping off pretty much effortlessly, since I'm injured and can't really exercise right now. I get all my carbs from fruits, veggies, nuts, and seeds, usually around 60-90g per day. It's…
