  • Okay, you ladies are getting to me. So I sip some water while doing Kenpo X, a martial arts workout in the P90X series. During a jumping jacks segment, the water starts sloshing in my tummy. My dog, who is sleeping on the floor near me, gets up and sticks his nose right in my gut, trying to figure out what that sound…
  • Does anyone have these? You know the types with the plates? I have seen some around $350 that go up to quite higher weights. I think they are by Bowflex. Right now, I'm looking at some at Target, by Reebok I believe. They adjust up to 25 lbs. per weight, and they are $70/piece. I'd be curious to know how easy they are to…
  • Good for you! Stick with it! July gives you plenty of time. And don't worry about keeping up with that little brother of yours; my goal for my first 5K was just to finish. Well, I did, and last spring (1 year after my first 5K, I did a 20K!) YOU CAN DO IT :flowerforyou:
  • Welcome, Anderson! :flowerforyou: I very much hear you that life often gets in the way of living  Anyway, personally, I wear my HRM no matter what kind of exercise I do. Then I log all workouts, even the strength, under cardio. I enter the minutes and calories burned. HTH I am about to start Kenpo X. Debated what to…
  • I, too, hesitated due to cost. But, I prefer to workout at home, so if I compared it to the cost of a gym membership, I'm money ahead. Kak: I love Kenpo. It is one of my favorites. I feel goofy with my back kicks, too. I think doing the Turbo Jam videos helped prepare me for Kenpo. Keep with it! I did Back and Biceps and…
  • Oh, and Jess, let me know about ChaLean. I'm so curious!!
  • No workout for me this morning, again. I slept SO HARD last night, and still felt a bit shaky this morning. I am feeling better, but still not myself. I'm debating getting in back and biceps yet tonight, of taking another rest day. That will be two in a row, so should I re-do this week? Urgh, I don't get sick very often…
  • Craig: I would say I am probably like your wife's body type; easier to build muscle, tougher to lose fat. Way to go, Taxi! How wonderful that you are noticing the differences. And enjoy your recovery week with the different WO. Watch out for Core-WOW!!! I am a bit under the weather, so today was a rest day. And rest day-I…
  • I'm starting to feel very lonely on this thread, but I'll post to stay accountable for myself. The first 50 minutes of Yoga X yesterday. This am it was Chest, shoulders, and triceps. I feel like my body is trying to get sick. I'm trying to flush it out with lots of fluids, but I don't feel myself. I struggled both…
  • I'll be 39 this Monday. I may weigh nearly 15-20 lbs more than I did when I was 20, but I am WAY fitter and stronger  1/1/2008 1/2/2008 1/3/2008 1/4/2008 1/5/2008 1/6/2008 1/7/2008 1/8/2008 1/9/2008 1/10/2008 1/11/2008 1/12/2008 1/13/2008 1/14/2008 1/15/2008 1/16/2008 1/17/2008 1/18/2008 1/19/2008 1/20/2008 1/21/2008…
  • My problem with water?!?! It wants to leak out during jumping jacks, running, sneezing, laughing, coughing, crying ..... You get the drift :noway:
  • Hello all! I took an unintential rest day yesterday. So I was up bright and early this Saturday morning and just completed Legs and Back. Off to basketball games and a fleece blanket making party. I am taking middle school girls to a church about an hour from here. All blankets are donated to a local children's hospital to…
  • Congrats, Lauryn. Rest that leg, Allyn. And good luck, Tami. I am so glad I followed Couch 2 5K two years ago. I'm so excited for you gals! :flowerforyou:
  • Teena: I would be interested in some of your strategies too. I do not eat clean, but I do eat healthy, balanced meals. I typically consume 1400-1500 calories a day (my flat daily calories, plus most exercise). I am stuck at this weight!!! I would prefer to be between 122-125 lbs. but my body seems to like it here around…
  • Craig: I was interested to see that you took a break and then came back. I will soon be having to determine my plan for what is next. I certainly don't look like the "after" pictures yet. I would still like to get more definition!! It was Kenpo for me this morning, and I did follow thru and finish the bonus round of arms…
  • Mrs. Alex: welcome. I usually post on the Starting P90X thread. HR really vary with each person and exercise and day. I looked back through my exercise log, though, and I tend to burn 250-300 per strength DVD and between 350-400 on the cardio dvds. I'm 38 (39 next week!), 5 '4" and around 132, to put things in perspective.
  • Good morning! Shoulders and Arms for me this a.m. I didn't have time for the bonus round; need to get my eldest to school early for program rehearsal. I will do the bonus round and ab ripper tonight. Have a great day everyone!
  • It works!!!!! 18 years ago, my hubby bought us both running shoes. I hated every step and swore I would never be a runner. 2 years ago this October, I started to follow the Couch to 5K program. The following Feb. I ran my first 5K and this May, I ran a 20K. I'm not FAST (I'm happy with 10 minute miles), but I so enjoy…
  • I did follow through and get Plyo in tonight. That one always gets my heartrate up, but I was reminded last week that from a calorie burning standpoint, running does it best for me! :flowerforyou: That being said, I'm loving the slight soreness from Chest and Back last night. I can't believe I'm in Phase 3. The time is…
  • Kak: I have to agree with the Yoga. It is definitely not my favorite, and I tend to put it off! I did Ab Ripper this am, Plyo this p.m. (My bed was just TOO cozy this morning!!!)
  • Welcome back, Jess. Great new pic!
  • I am back after my second recovery week. I did not follow the recovery week plan; instead I ran every day. I have missed running, as I'm trying to follow the program, so this felt GREAT!! This morning was Chest and Back for me. Still need to get in ARX. It was fun to look back and see how my push up and pull up numbers…
  • Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Five miles for me today
  • Taxi: Way to go! I have to say Yoga is not one of my favorite workouts in the series. The second half is easier than the first, in my opinion. Part of my problem with the Yoga is just the length of time. 90 minute in one stretch is a long period of time in the life of a working wife and mom!! Let us know what you think of…

  • Good morning. I'm not sure about the eating and cramping, but I eat 1/2 a banana before I run. I have had cramps before also. I breathe as deeply as I can-it feels so painful though! A friend of mine has a son who runs cross country for a college, he recommended holding your arms down at your sides-almost pushing them…
  • Oh, and I ran 3.5 miles this morning. I have missed it!!:flowerforyou:
  • I started running at 36; I will be 39 in 2 weeks. I followed Couch 2 5K. This spring, I completed a 20K! I think we definitely are getting better with age! I was 20 pounds thinner at the age of 20, but I'm WAY more FIT! Hessied: I love it when my 8 year old bikes beside me while I run, too
  • Hello everyone! I am on a self-imposed running break while I follow the P90X program. But on my recovery weeks, I'm slipping some running in. This morning I did 4.5 on the TM-snow and ice on the ground outside. It felt WONDERFUL!!!!! I've followed the posters here for the past 3 weeks. Way to go everyone!
  • Hello! Today was back and legs for me. My youngest told me last night at about 8:00 her eye felt funny. By nine, it was very mattery. SOO, I spent over an hour typing up lesson plans for a sub, and then got up at 5:00 to get my classroom ready and materials out. As my husband was getting ready to leave for work at the same…
