Jess, you're a pro at goal setting! I need to get stronger on my goals. The BFFM program is all about goal setting and *writing them down.* It's so important to have strong, well-defined goals, if you ever want to meet them. So that's my next goal -- to get a date book just for goal setting -- and that way the next…

I'm still feeling woozy today - sick to my stomach and weak. Another day of no exercise, but I'm trying to eat well, at least. I can't believe how much this little cold has knocked me down!

It depends on how much fat you're trying to eat. You could ditch the full egg and the peanut butter. I don't know how much fat is in the protein bar. Personally, I like to eat fat, and Tom even says that he really started getting "cut" when he gave up on the 80s low-fat craze and added more fat to his diet. Your meals look…

You don't take a rest day every week? I didn't used to, but now I do. Ideally, I'd work out every day, if I had my way. I don't like to get used to taking days off because it would be too easy to just keep taking every day off! I get afraid of overworking myself, though, and getting injured or sick (like this week).

Lucky you! Is it one with the strap, or a wrist monitor? I've been thinking of buying one, but can't decide which one to buy.

Jess, look at you!!! You look great! And *zero* pounds to go! Wow! Congrats for reaching your goal! I need a new pic. Mine is a year and a half old and I think I look better now. At least I did before this week. :grumble: I've been so tired, and when I'm tired I crave sugar, and I eat it. Somehow I…

It only takes a day or two before I'm craving the healthy foods again. I really don't crave the junk anymore, but eat it mostly when I'm tired or stressed. I am still tired today, but I'm going on about six hours of sleep, rather than three! I'm getting back to my routine, minus the exercise. :ohwell: Hopefully I'll feel…

I need to come up with a plan for when I get sick. My inner logic is always that I already feel awful, so I may as well eat awful, too (and once again I've been eating stuff I wouldn't normally even think to put in my mouth :embarassed: ). :grumble: Does anyone have any suggestions for finding the energy to keep it healthy…

Yes, cottage cheese is a clean food, if it's non-fat or low fat (I like a little fat), because it's a great source of protein. I prefer the low salt version, if I can ever find it again. I found it once at an area grocery store and have never seen it since. :ohwell: I love BFFM! It's so full of information. I don't feel…

YES!!! You got it :flowerforyou: -- that's exactly how I feel! ... Well, most days.... Today I feel like crap.  I got maybe three hours of sleep last night. Woke up with a terrible sore throat and then couldn't get back to sleep. Needless to say, diet and exercise are out the window! I'm eating whatever and…

If it was just a weekend, it's water weight from processed foods and it will come off as fast as it went on as soon as you clean up your diet again. You'll get there.

I'm trying to eat my body weight in grams of protein every day. It makes a huge difference in the way I feel. I'm much more satisfied after eating, and in between. A large part of the concept behind "clean eating" is that protein does help melt the weight off and keep you lean. Weight management is so much more complicated…

I used to want to get down to 110, but I don't think I do now. I've changed my weight goal to 112, but I'm not even sure I want to get that low. It all depends on how putting on more muscle affects me. This week, I weighed 116.6, and I feel pretty good at that weight. I no longer want to weigh "next to nothing," LOL.…

Now I'm going above your baseline -- that is scary. You're several inches taller than me, and I think you work out more, too. Good job on the 5# (as long as you know it isn't muscle  )!
-
Yes, I eat my exercise calories -- up to a point. The formula that I'm using to calculate my base calories (not MFP's because it only gives me 1200 calories) takes into account the amount of exercise that I do. So even though my current base of 1650 includes exercise, I still add my exercise calories on top of that because…

I've increased my calories again! I got a body fat scale a few weeks ago so that I could truly see what's going on with my body -- am I losing and/or gaining fat, or muscle? Well over the last couple of weeks, both my weight went down and my body fat percentage went down. I thought that was *good* news until I did the…

I don't know what the recommendations are for low-carb diets, but for clean eating the ratios are generally 50% carbs, 30% protein, and 20% fat. I don't consider 50% to be low. Carbs are important for energy and brain function. Clean eating is more about the types of carbs that are best to eat, but it's definitely…

I eat lunch meat, too, although I realize it's not the best. I eat mostly turkey because it's leaner, and I look for brands without added sugar. I love the idea of cooking a whole bird in the crock pot and putting it in baggies for later, though!

I should clarify on the pizza. I do eat homemade, whole wheat pizza, but not the fast food type! You don't have to completely do away with everything "bad."
-
Looks great! You got lots of protein for the day! Personally, I don't like to call anything I eat a "snack." Every time I put something in my mouth, I try to make it a meal and include some form of protein with it. An apple would have peanut butter or nuts with it, for example. That way I make sure everything always…

Hi, "fast girl" neeterskeeter! It is definitely possible to eat well when you're busy. You just need to find a few foods that are easy to carry with you, get a good cooler, and pack it any time you leave the house. Foods that I pack: * Protein bars (I prefer homemade) * Peanut butter sandwiches * Tuna wraps *…

It is possible to lose both fat and muscle at the same time, if you're not eating enough. This is what happens to people who eat 1200 calories (or less) a day all the time (and then their metabolism plunges because they've lost muscle). But of course that's no longer me, and hasn't been for a while! The BFFM book suggests…

Hi, Jawaria! Sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well, and I hope you feel better soon.

Enjoy the weight lifting, dewpearl! I'm going to have to check out that bodybuilding.com for my body type.
-
Welcome, lmr! :flowerforyou: Come back and tell us how things are going for you with clean eating! I'd love to here your success story.

I was very happy this morning when the scale told me that both my weight and my bodyfat percentage went down for the second week in a row. Then I did the calculations, and I lost lean body mass! :noway: You would think with all the heavy weights, I'd be putting on some muscle. Maybe I'm not eating enough? A one- or…

Aww, that's no fun! I hope she feels better soon!

The guideline is five servings of fruits *and* vegetables, which usually means two of fruits and three of vegetables. That said, I usually eat more than two servings of fruit a day. If you want to be a professional body builder, you might need to watch your fruit in order to get super lean. If you're fine being a regular…

Oh, yeah, a clean diet helps the muscles show. See the Clean Eating Club thread for help with that.

I don't know if it has been mentioned that you don't need to kill yourself! Three to four times per week is enough. When I learned that professional body builders often only work their abs *once* per week, that's when I started weight lifting seriously and haven't looked back! (I used to think I had to do work my abs…
