I like to brush, floss and use mouthwash after dinner. Then my mouth is minty clean and if I eat anything I have to do it all over again so I often resist.

Yes you can! It might help to get yourself a few weights and equipment for home, and cardio can easily be done outside, or just jogging in place or doing exercise DVDs/youtube videos. My local library has a lot of exercise DVDs, you could see what yours has. There is also a whole class of exercises that uses your own body…

Hi and welcome!! That's great that you decided to lose weight together. It will probably be easier if you can keep each other accountable, or even make a little competition out of it where the winner gets something special for Christmas as a reward. That always keeps me motivated :) When you're at the grocery store, try to…

You look amazing!! Great job!

I'm here every day! Would love some more supportive friends  Please add me!

Congratulations on your loss! That's pretty amazing already! Sounds like you know what you're doing

I went vegan cold-turkey a few years ago when I took the time to learn about the meat and dairy industry. It made me mad so I didn't want to support it anymore. I was even vegan for my wedding! Hahaha. It didn't quite work out for me though as it was very restrictive, so after about a year I switched to being a vegetarian…

I'm 27, 5'3" and 165 lbs. Trying to lose another 30-ish. Please feel free to add me! I'm here every day

I live in upstate NY where we don't have the heat issue, but I can't reach my 10k steps unless I do something "extra". I have a desk job too, mostly. Before or after work if I go on a walk or a class in the gym I usually hit the 10k. It's really not that hard if you count *everything* from the moment you wake up until you…

It sounds like you are already making a lot of positive changes in your life. The late-night snacking, you just have to find ways to shut that down so that it doesn't cancel out your efforts throughout the day. Maybe you could not keep unhealthy snacks around, or brush your teeth after dinner, or find something to keep…

If you look at the chemical structure of carbohydrates you will notice a lot of -OH functional groups. These, when the carb is broken down, get released as water. One gram of carbohydrates holds approximately 3 grams of water. So for those of you who "lost 15 lbs in the first week" on a low carb diet, it's likely just…

I went vegan cold-turkey a few years ago when I learned a lot of bad things about the meat and dairy industry and about how animals are mistreated (sometimes really horribly). I simply chose not to support those industries anymore. However, I would carefully analyze your reasons for doing this. If it's purely for weight…

Sorry, but I have to disagree here. If you're looking for long-term change and a sustainable weight loss program, you need to EAT when you feel hungry. It's your body's way of telling you that it needs nutrition, so listen to it. However, the above quote does apply to boredom eating, cravings, and instances of bad (or lack…

I use this too and it's amazing. It's also free! I never get ads anymore

For fillers I usually go for greek yogurt. It's only about 100-150 cal but has 15+ grams of protein which will keep you full longer.

That sounds like a great idea! I'm in!

Hi! I just added you  I'm 5'3 and my goal is to get down to about 130 lbs. But the scale doesn't matter too much because I started lifting as well, the number is more just to keep me motivated to lose weight.

I just restarted after a long break as well! It's basically like starting over so I totally understand! Please feel free to add me, I'm here every day and really try to give it 100% and also support others on their journey. Also, congrats on your baby!

I am trying to incorporate lifting more into my daily routine. I'm usually all cardio but have been reading about the benefits of lifting. Feels great so far!

When I see someone working out I only think good things about them. They're working on changing themselves for the better and that's worthy of respect. It doesn't matter what size they are! Be proud of your efforts! However, if you really really don't like it and it inhibits your workout or stops you from even starting it,…

Hi! I was a vegetarian for about 2 years, then a vegan for about 1 year, then back to vegetarian for 2 years, and now I've started to incorporate some wild-caught fish occasionally into my diet because I suck at eating protein. Feel free to add me! Finding that "balance" is definitely a journey... I did it for ethical…

Yesssss I have the same problem as you!! I've actually been on MFP for many years (I think since 2011 or something) but then I fell off the wagon and all of my old supportive friends are no longer around. I'm also 27, want to lose 50 lbs, and I'm here every day. I love to comment on others' statuses and give motivation…

It doesn't sounds like you're actually hungry but more like emotional eating. You will have to work really hard to break this bad habit. Eating those high calorie foods at night will cancel out any progress you made throughout the day, which is a lot of time wasted for you. Try brushing and flossing your teeth and then…

Hi everyone, I'm 5'3" (sometimes 5'4", depends on who measures ). I'd also like to lose around 40-50 lbs. I'd love some motivation buddies! Feel free to add me as well.

Congrats on your loss, that's amazing progress. I am glad you're under medical supervision because I would have said the same as everyone else: eat a bit more. But it looks like you know what you're doing and you're getting good results. Here is a website with some really good low-carb recipes:…

YES! Especially at night the cravings are the worst. I got around it by purchasing a bag of Hershey's dark chocolate kisses. They're only about 20 calories each and one or two are just enough to satisfy the craving. I find that no "substitute" will really get rid of it. If I want something sweet I will just eat something…

Just added you! Welcome to MFP :)

Welcome to MFP! Counting calories really helps! I was overestimating my intake by quite a lot before I started logging. It really helps keep your portions in check. Make sure you also log little snacks that you eat throughout the day...those few things (a few nuts here, some chips there, piece of chocolate, etc.) can add…
