  • Your heart rate monitor is not built to measure calories burned when you're not exercising....it's for steady state cardio only (which means it may also not be very accurate when doing things such as lifting weights). When using it during steady state cardio the calories burned should be fairly accurate because the HRM…
  • Haha that's definitely a NSV!! Good thing you noticed though :) You should get that baby sized down a bit so you don't lose it.
  • Wow, wonderful job!!! You look great and your story is very inspiring! :flowerforyou:
  • I recently got super addicted to green smoothies! It's basically a fruit smoothie with spinach and kale blended in. The fruit (especially banana) masks the taste of the veggies so it tastes nice and fruity but has all the goodness of the green leafy veggies! I make it with raw, plant-based protein powder for a really…
  • I take: Vitamin D2 Vitamin B12 Vegan "fish oil" that comes directly from the algae that the fish eat to get it. Sunwarrior raw, vegan protein powder on the days I do strength/resistance training
  • I'm on the road to becoming a vegan. I'm technically still in the transition stage so I allow myself one small "non-vegan" (but still vegetarian) thing per day - such as milk chocolate or a little cheese or whatever. I've been on this road for about 6 months now so it's definitely easier now :) Feel free to add me if you…
  • I used to drink Coffee Mate Sugar Free French Vanilla liquid creamer but I realized how unhealthy it was so I switched to Silk Soy creamer. It tasted pretty good!! It's not sweetened so I add some organic agave nectar to sweeten it up!
  • Wow!!! You look absolutely wonderful and I don't think you need to worry about the pictures at all!
  • There are several raw, vegan protein powders out there for anyone concerned about low protein. But the OP will have no problems reaching their protein goals on a 80/10/10 diet. Protein is easily obtained from a varied plant based diet. There's a myth that we need enormous amounts of protein to be healthy and strong...but…
  • To get the recommended amount of protein I believe you multiply your weight by about .35 . There's a general trend of "higher protein = better" going around MFP, but your body seriously doesn't need that much protein. Here's a list of plant-based foods high in protein: Almonds - 1/4 cup - 7.4g Black beans - 1 cup - 15g…
  • Based purely on mass, it's perhaps a bit more expensive. BUT, if you look at the amount of nutrition that's in the food, the healthy stuff far outweighs the junk food cost-wise.
  • Yesterday I made cupcakes and used Nutella instead of frosting. Worked like a charm and if the cupcakes are still warm it melts it just a bit. YUM!

  • Non-soy protein: Sunwarrior Blend! It's raw, vegan protein powder made from pea, cranberry and hemp seed protein. They also have one made from brown rice protein (that's the one that just says Sunwarrior protein, not Sunwarrior blend). You can find it here:…
  • Uhh....just realized that I totally clicked on the wrong smiley. HAH! I meant THIS ONE:  but now that I'm at it I think I'll add :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • Amazing job!! You're an inspiration! World record in lifting??! :noway: I can't wait to see what this next year has in store for you! Keep it up girl!!
  • Wow! That's an amazing transformation! I have this program sitting somewhere collecting dust. I think I'll pick it up after reading this :) Anyway, wonderful job. You look great
  • I like beets after I discovered I can make desserts with them. I used to hate beets!
  • If you aren't sure and don't want to drop the money to pay for the DVD you can check your local library for a copy. My library has all of the Jillian Michaels DVDs and the check out period is 30 days which is perfect for 30DS! I think in the end it's all about taking the first step. No matter how unfit you are, you will…
  • I drink mine with sugar free french vanilla coffee creamer (15 cal per tbsp). I tried substituting vanilla almond milk for the creamer but it just wasn't the same....so now I'm back to the creamer  I think coffee is one of those things that I'm not willing to change to save the calories. I'm pretty happy with my 50…
  • I try to reserve restaurant outings for cheat days so that I can enjoy the meal without having to worry so much about the calories. I'll be good the rest of the week but on that particular meal I just eat what looks good (I still get water to drink and a salad or veggies for a side and usually skip dessert).
  • Yes, lift heavy weights!
  • Awesome job!! You look great, your effort is clearly visible in your pictures!
  • Wow! You look amazing, what an inspiration! Congratulations on your loss :flowerforyou:
  • Brown sugar, cinnamon and banana or apple. Pretty standard :)
  • If you are breast feeding make sure you're eating well (and enough!!). At this point the weight will come off pretty quickly just by itself.
  • I am giving up my time to do some extra volunteering during lent. At least this way it's useful to somebody else :flowerforyou: A month without chocolate, soda, cookies, or whatever else isn't really going to help me with any kind of spiritual transformation so I'm dedicating my time instead.
  • First book of The Hunger Games, reading it the old fashioned way! No e-books for this girl, I prefer to flip real pages
  • I have a Polar FT7 also and that calorie burn sounds about right for your size. When exercising I usually adjust my HRM reading by subtracting the calories I would have burned in that time frame if I had sat on the couch and done nothing. Usually it's about 80 cal/hour ....that way I get calories burned purely due to…
  • Yeah circuit training will give you a pretty good estimate. I wear my HRM while doing it and then adjust the calories that MFP gives me but it's usually pretty close. A good estimate is about 10 cal/ min if you give it your best. Good luck!
  • Are you sure you entered your info correctly? What did you set as your activity level? That seems awfully high.... Try setting it to sedentary and entering the exercise separately.
