I wouldn't suggest following this idea. Beverages like soda and coffee do not hydrate the body, they dehydrate it. Things like tea, soup broth, etc do hydrate the body.

How many pounds per week are you set up to lose? If its high, you might not be eating enough calories and your body may be in a bit of a starvation mode.
