  • This is where an activity tracker comes in. I don't know about you, but I like my fitbit, because it gives me little goals to reach, and I feel accomplished when I do. I'll walk a little longer trying to hit my step target, or calorie target. The other way to approach activity, is to fit in in everywhere. You don't have to…
  • I topped out at 268, though that was the first time I weighed myself, it's possible I was bigger. I've official, as of today, lost 40 lbs and half of that was in the last 2 months when I began logging faithfully. No surgery, no "quick-fixes", no excuses. I count calories and make time to be more active during the week/on…
  • I've heard many of these before. The strangest (and one of the most dangerous) one's I've come across is the "cotton-ball diet" You dip a "cotton" (it's not actually cotton) in oil, then swallow it. It, supposedly fills up your stomach so you eat less. I have no words....
  • Excellent job! Pictures are great evidence to remind us that change -is- working, even if we can't always see it on the scale. Keep it up!
  • It was designed to be used as an activity tracker, and that's exactly how I use it. Of course, I'm one of "those people" who don't eat my calories back, so what it tells me isn't beneficial to anything but my own activity goals. If you're looking for a more accurate calorie burn monitor, I'd consider an HRM instead. The…
  • As many people have said, I don't believe people "want" to be fat, but they certainly "choose" to be. I chose to be. Now, I'm choosing differently. Most adults have control over what they put in to their mouths. Most have control over how much physical activity they partake in. You may not have liked how the doctor worded…
  • I just finished this day on Monday of this week, and today I'll be on Week 6 Day 1. I walk at 3.2, then jog at a 4.6. That is, mph.
  • Surprisingly, for many people, it's protein and fat which keeps them fuller for longer. I find that rice and pasta (regardless of whether it's white or brown) doesn't leave my hunger satisfied as long as say, two eggs or a chicken breast does. I usually prefer to pass on the pasta, but at the end of the day, it comes down…

  • The only way to fail is never to start again. This is life. There are always things that are going to intervene. But you've got to get back in to the saddle.

  • Great job! Thought I'd share mine too! 219,193 steps taken, 97.48 miles walked, 81,893 calories burned and 10 lbs for me too! /highfive
  • Imagine if we all started charging by the hour.
  • More nutritional advice from the internet experts.
  • Thanks everyone, and keep up your own journeys! I am 5'7" and do a mixture of walking, jogging, swimming, and weight lifting. But at the end of the day, I see the best results when I make my calorie goals.
  • Go brush your teeth. Go to bed early if you have to. Remember, food can't control you. You control your food.
  • I like to swap days. Do easy cardio on your strength days if you have to. Otherwise, focus on weights. The other 3 days of the week, do cardio. Make sure you take day 7 to rest.
  • One foot in front of the other. But honestly, check out the app Couch to 5k. It's taken me from barely able to jog 30 seconds to jogging (albeit slowly) a full mile in about 8 weeks. I was extremely out of shape, almost 270lbs. Also. Quit smoking. Or what's the point of getting healthy?
  • Weight loss doesn't occur over night, it's borne from consistency with calories in vs calories out. Also, because you don't have that much weight to lose, 2 lbs a week is too aggressive. The thinner you get, the more difficult it is to lose any more weight. I tend to manage 1200-1300 cals a day, but I have a desk job,…
  • When I work out, I wear three bras. I am currently a 38 DDD. After I lost 70lbs, at my lowest weight of 175, I was still a DD-DDD. The change was minimum with weightloss. At this point, I'm assuming the only way to get rid of them, is probably reduction surgery.
  • My thighs are, indeed, huge. Though that's because of the thunder. Not the weights. Your argument is invalid!
  • Healthy is about 2 lbs a week. And considering you didn't start off at 500 lbs, that's a whole hell of a lot of weight in 2 months. I'd suggest eating more. Clearly you aren't eating enough for your activity level. That or you have developed a medical issue, though that's highly unlikely. At this point, you should actually…
  • Coffee, yogurt, and a banana every morning never fails!

  • I have a desk job. But that hasn't stopped me from losing 24 lbs in 8 weeks. On your lunch break, go for a walk. You'd be surprised how much that helps. When we sit so long, I know I get stiff, circulation isn't as good, and i feel sluggish. After my walk, I feel so much better and am able to focus. After work I go to the…
  • How can someone's nutrition be "fine" without vegetables? And you're not "forcing" him if you're his parents. You're just doing your job.
  • I don't have any children. But growing up, you either ate what was cooked, or you didn't eat anything. Maybe your boys need a little "tough love" for the sake of their nutrition.
  • I'm hoping to hit -50 lbs right around my 27th birthday, so I'll have to plan something good. I've been looking at a new North Face jacket for a while. I currently have an XXL that's pretty old/worn, and tight on me. I"m tempted to get the L, just to have something to look forward to once I hit a weight low enough to wear…
  • Started at 268, so I needed to lose a total of 118 lbs to reach my goal of 150. I've lost a current total of 37 lbs, 23 of those in the last 8 weeks. You can do it! Never give up.
  • It doesn't happen over night. It's 2 pounds here, 5 pounds there. If you can lose 10 lbs in a month just be cutting an extra 500 cals a day, you can absolutely gain 10 lbs a month by having an extra 500 cals a day. And if you've ever logged your food, you'll understand that 500 cals is NOT difficult to consume. Many who…
  • I know I'm fat, no doctor had to tell me. Mine asked how my diet was, if I was experiencing any symptoms that might be weight related. I let her know I was eating better, controlling my calories and working out much more often. She -did- offer me an appetite suppressant if I wanted one. I politely declined. No scolding or…
