  • 30 pounds in 6 weeks is awesome!! As long as you are following your surgeon's plan, it will pick back up. Stalls are common. Your body is probably in shock. Hang in there!!
  • It took me several years after I got to goal to think of my current size as the "normal" me. Hang in there!!
  • I'll admit I am an attention *kitten* and love sharing my pictures : ) RNY: 5 years 8 months ago. Highest weight 340 (BMI 53), current weight 138 (BMI 22), 5'7" tall, 47 years old. Weight loss surgery gave me my life back. I am so thankful!! [/URL]
  • Best wishes for a speedy recovery!! My RNY was 5.67 years ago. It gave me my life back.

  • It just looks like it enhances your natural beauty. I love make-up. I wear it about half the time. I am not one of those who has to have it on before I leave the house (I totally do not understand that). I feel comfortable without it. I agree with the other poster who said to get rid of the negative self-talk. It will…
  • I had just adopted my second child as a single mom and knew I had to be healthy for my kids. Now that I am healthy, my motivation to keep the weight off is pure vanity ; )
  • People are used to seeing you bigger. They think they are being nice. When they get used to you at this weight, the comments will stop. As others have said, just say "thanks" or "my doctor is monitoring my progress" and leave it at that. I used to get lot of comments like that but I have been maintaining for almost 5 years…
  • Good for you. Now the hard part begins. Good luck!!

  • RNY in September 2008, so I am 5 years 8 months out. 47 years old 5'7" tall Highest Weight: 339 Goal Weight: 140 Current Weight: 138 Highest size clothes: 28/30W Current Size: mostly 6's Waist: 27 I had a 10 pound bounce at the 2 year mark, but I worked hard to lose it and have not let myself get over 3 pounds above goal…
  • From my many years in the bariatric community, I'd say 80% of us have enough loose skin to warrant plastic surgery. Nothing you can do to prevent it. If it bothers you, save up for plastics and/or make sure your credit score is good so you can get a loan. I had to get the skin removed for my mental health. Many learn to…
  • I'm 47. I've dated guys 15 years younger. I do not usually date men more than a few years older than me.
  • I'm 5'7" tall and was 339 at my highest weight. I weighed 140 when I was in my 20's and liked how that looked on me so that is what I chose for my goal weight. I think we all look a little gaunt when we are at the end of the losing phase, but it does seem to redistribute a bit.
  • Hi, everyone!! My name is Laura and I participate off and on here on mfp, depending on where my weight is. I only log in here when my weight is up. I am 5.25 years post-RNY. My highest weight was 340 and I maintain fairly easily between 135-140. I have had no issues and RNY was definitely the right choice for me. I am so…
  • Nipples are never removed. The skin around them is just reshaped. There will be a scar around the nipples.
  • I've had a breast lift. My scars are minimal and I can wear a bikini without them showing. Find a surgeon who knows what he/she is doing. It makes all the difference. I love my surgeon. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!
  • Do what it takes to lose the 50 pounds. Don't make excuses, log every bite. You deserve this!! I am 47. We have a lot of living left to do!!
  • This is an urban legend. Our skin is not of good quality and would not be useful.
  • Losing weight and keeping it off is hard work. You have to believe you are worth the effort!!
  • I got fat because I ate too much. I decided to get thin so that I could be a better mom to my kids. I am a single mom and they need me healthy and alive to raise them to adulthood. Also, kids are mean and I did not want them growing up being teased for having a fat mom. I have been maintaining my 200 pound loss for 4 years…
  • I had my arms done right after I got to goal (about 15 months post-op). I could not live with old-lady arms. I had a lower body lift and breast lift when I was about 3 years out. I wanted to make sure I could maintain my weight. I hid the skin around my middle well with shapewear and did not go down a single size…
  • What surgery did you have? Did you talk to your surgeon about this?? I would e seeking a second opinion if I were you. I had RNY 5 years ago. No problems here.
  • Congrats on your success!! Exercise and building muscle will make your body look better under the skin but nothing except plastic surgery will get rid of the skin.
  • Eat less and/or move more. How many calories are you eating now? Are you weighing or measuring your food?? We tend to think serving sizes are bigger than they actually are. I had gastric bypass 5 years ago and reached my goal in 14 months.
  • When i was at your stage i ate 800-900 calories a day. i never eat back my exercise calories even now. Personally, i think 1300 is way too much for you if you want to reach your goal weight. At 5 years out i usually eat 1800-2000 to maintain.
  • Yep. You will either have it or you won't. Nothing you do will make much of a difference. Save up for plastics and make sure your credit is good, just in case you want it in the future. You can take out a loan, if your credit is good. It's like a car payment and was worth it to me. Mentally I had to get rid of the loose…
  • For most of us, we became obese because we were used to eating in excess. We ate until we were about to pop. After weight loss surgery, we need to learn our own body's signals that let us know we are satiated. We have to learn to stop when we have had a proper portion and just be content or we will gain it all back. It's a…
  • Some people never lose their stomach fat and need plastic surgery to fix that area. My problem area is my thighs. I lost all my fat around my middle. Do you wear shapewear to make it less noticeable? There are comfortable options out there. I wore it a lot pre-plastics and still do when I am going to a formal event and…
  • Wow. I'm surprised you have not been told to take iron already. 3 months is a long time to wait. I know a lot of post-ops who take the Sundown Perfect Iron. I have always taken Vitron C and my levels are good at 5 years out.
