Having run off and on for 20 years, this. :) More seriously, I rarely enjoy it for the first 2 miles. I always love the last mile and I always love the post-running physical and emotional high.

It may also be dehydration. Are you drinking water during those 70 min sessions?

Make sure that your shoes are right for you. Get fitted at a reputable running store. With the right shoes - as noted above - they should be temporary.

My .02: Lift much heavier and focus on compound exercises. Work to failure. 5x5's are good. Don't increase calorie intake for the sake of it. See how you do after a month or two of the above. I'm betting that you will increase your strength and (puts on flame-retardant suit) muscle mass ("but but but - that's…

WORD x 'finity.

Incredible! Way to go, man!
-
Now you have crossed the line. Reported.

Hmm... you're fat and like the Redskins.... I'm out.
-
It's not complicated...just challenging! As these other folks stated, weight training REALLY helps. For a lot of reasons. Good luck!

As mmapags said, I think this is academic (but interesting). I get put off by "can't," "won't," "never" absolutes when contrary evidence exists. See, e.g., what I noted above about obesity, etc. To answer your question, I am thinking more along the leangains way - short periods of each state in the process of a person's…

This. Plus I toss it in crack

So much this.

Fair enough. I don't think that we are speaking the same language, anyway. cheers! :drinker:

QFT. Running store is the way to go.

...your last sentence just disproved the "absolute rule." Add mine to the mass of exploding heads.....
-
If by "at the same time" you mean the EXACT. SAME. MOMENT. then I agree. OTT, I disagree as alluded to with my questions above.
-
Thank you, but that's not exactly what I am talking about. I challenge this "absolute rule" because it is not absolute. I understand that people who have lifted previously and have taken time off, people who are obese, and extreme athletes are all documented exceptions to the "can't gain on a deficit" rule. That tells me…

I started this today (70% of it, anyway) to replace one of my three weekly runs. http://www.trimmedandtoned.com/a-hiit-workout-routine-to-burn-belly-fat-fast It is a challenge, to be sure. I don't see how anyone could do it 3x a week without being in incredible shape. As I understand it, TRUE HIIT (as opposed to just…

Ok, while you cannot be anabolic and catabolic at the same time, how quickly can you alternate? One could eat at a deficit long term (say, over 6 months), while strategically exceeding TDEE in spurts to allow for muscle gain, right?
-
Fantastic! Great work!
-
I disagree. I think that you CAN do both "at the same time." I know that I have greater muscle mass today than when I began my quest, yet I've dropped a lot of fat. Q - If one eats more than TDEE at or around workout days yet still nets under TDEE over, e.g., a month, can muscle be added? What are the "cutoffs" that…

Word. I packed on about 15 lbs using this method. And a lot of donuts.

Nitrean+ As noted above, not everyone has time to cook and eat a chicken breast. A 110 kcal, 23 gm protein shake is a good alternative. I mix mine with unsweetened vanilla milk. Profit at 140 kcals.

lol word lol

Skip the toast and eat the bacon. Also, as to the alleged trichinosis issue, even the USDA now agrees that pork (such as chops) does not need to be cooked until it tastes like leather. http://www.fsis.usda.gov/news/NR_052411_01/index.asp A little pinkish center is fine. (TWSS)

And Burpees.

I'll stop. But I'll neither collaborate nor listen. Good day to you, ma'am.
