The 21 Day uses four very simple essential movements, pushup, pullups, squats and planks. They give examples how to start off for people like me, out of shape and not used to doing those movements, and then move up to more difficult ways of doing them as you progress and get in better shape. Tomorrow, I am going to…

Forgot to take the meat out of the freezer so we had a bacon, swil and mushroom omlet.

Day 4 Weight: 238 – lost 3 pounds from yesterday, four pounds total Exercise: 30 minute walk, 3.52MPH, 1.79 miles, average heart rate 120 BPM (74.5% MHR). Movement: Stood, lifted, squatted, bent, crawled, laid down, rolled over, for several hours building my daughter’s chicken coop.

Marinated salmon and sweetaters.

Between wax paper may work. It definitely does not work rolling the dough without any “protection”. I even froze my granite rolling pin and put freeze packs on my granite counter before trying to roll it out. Really stuck to the rolling pin anyway..

I made my crust for an pecan pie which had a pretty runny filling before it cooked up and set. It says to bake it for 5 minutes first, and that firmed up the crust a bit. Not sure how it would hold up to a filling that stays liquid

Oops, my bad. I put the original recipe in my cookbook software that calculates, as best it can from what is put in, the nutrition info. It did not compute all the ingredients, probably none of the ingredients. I should have cut that out before I posted it. Sorry.

I go in tomorrow to have my Lipid Panel and A1C lab work, wish me luck. Well, I guess luck has nothing to do with it. It all comes down to – have I been working hard enough? The question is – will I shed the meds

Almond Flour Pastry 2 1/2 cups almond flour 2/3 cup shortening, e.g. lard or coconut oil 1/4 tsp salt 1/3 cup water 1. Combine flour and salt in a mixing bowl. Cut shortening into flour with a pastry blender or two knives. Do not over mix; these are sufficiently blended when particles are the size of peas. Add water…

We had a cabin in Arnold for 10 years with the intent to move up there permanently, but my hospitalization plan (Kaiser) wouldn’t cover me up there, so we sold it and bought a new home. While up there, we learned about Distel Free Range Turkeys out of Sonora, and have one every year, down here, ordered from Lenardi’s . I’m…

Monkey, We gotta be brothers from a parallel universe, ie: potty runs (only mine is 2-3 am) and adjusting that damn mask on the CPAP machine wakes or keeps me wide awake. The Bride gets up at 4:30 to get ready for work, so there is really no use in trying to get back to sleep, so I get up, make the coffee and get ready to…

Monk, Good info on CoQ10, thanks. In what form do you take your CoQ10? I noticed that some of the soft gels have soy oil in them. After dropping statins and taking CoQ10, how long did it take before you noticed a change? Also, when you were taking statins, did you have any forgetfulness or sleep problems?

Jamk Thank you for the praise. I’ve been eating 85% Primal since February, having dropped all grains and most processed food, and eating organic fruits and veggies. In July, when I ended up in the hospital with AFib, I passed out first. They learned that it was probably due to low blood pressure and low potassium. From…

Hi Keri, Got your message inquiring how I was doing. I’m still alive and kicking. I moved over to LiveStrong to log my food because they also have a diabetes tracker which graphs my blood glucose in relation to my carbs/calories/fat/protein. On October 9, I started eating and exercising Paleo/Primal and since then, I have…

It's a fad diet that works as long as you strictly adhere to buying and eaing their food, but when you stop and go back to your old ways, you will gain it back. Only a change lifestyle works forever.

I have been a Type 2 for 8 years. I have misused and abused my body for the last 40, but started to get serious about my health about 7 months ago, and embarked on a life style change of more fresh foods and less processed foods. A few months ago, I had some medical issues, some diabetes related and some not, but started…

I have been in and out of “diet” mode for 40 years. Finally, about 7 months ago, I started on a lifestyle change. First, it was learning to cook healthy, then shopping at farmers markets, then cutting out bread and pasta, then cutting out most processed foods, then exercise. I have been losing weight steadily, averaging 7…
