  • Not a good 2 weeks. I had a gain. First gain since i started this journey. Oh well, the scale will not define me! It's just a number. 4/14 - 251.7 4/29 - 255.6
  • No calories????? Even Vegetables have calories......Not many, but they do have calories. :smooched:
  • Find yourself a good therapist that you trust and are comfortable with. Utilize this person on a regular basis, not just for the Pre-Op Psych exam. The bypass is a great tool, but with weight loss (and massive loss at that) comes some realizations that need to be dealt with. You can't bypass your brain/emotions/feelings. I…
  • I use original almond milk. Only adds 40 - 60 cals and makes it much better than just water.
  • How about bathroom stalls. I used to pray no one was in the Big (Handicapped) stall because lord know's I didn't fit in one of those tiny ones (that I know just slide in and out of like it's no issue at all). And I would be so embarrassed if a handicapped person came in while I was in there. The other thing I can think of…
  • Hello all! What an awesome challenge. I am currently stalled (no weight loss in the past 3 weeks). This may be what I need to get over that hurdle. I am 48 years old and in Aug 2011 I had gastric banding at 380 pounds. I have lost just under 130 pounds when I get to a loss of 150 pounds I am going to have my first tattoo…
  • I don't care what my weight is. My goal size is a 12. I currently just hit 18/20 and started at 32/34 (size 5x). The dress I am wearing today is a 1x.
  • I grew up in Florida and we would always go scallop harvesting in the gulf. Found some big ones but never this big. This looks amazing!
  • Just had a small unfill last week and yesterday I managed to eat 1000 calories. First time in a very long time I have gotten that much in. I'm 20 months post lapband and loving it.
  • I am back on track with my exercise. Since I had to have a small unfill last week as I was too tight. Will have to up the exercise to see the results I was seeing. Did 30 minutes of Cardio yesterday (Intense cardio) and 30 minutes of strength training. Scheduled for 3 days this coming week and planning on doing Leslie…
  • I also have the lap band and dont really worry too much about calories. My goals are 60+ grams of Protein and less than 50 grams of carbs (minus the fiber). As long as I hit those I continue to lose.
  • As Amber said above, it is a lot of work, but anything worth having is worth working for. I can tell you of my experience and that is all. I was banded 19 months ago. During those 19 months I have gotten stuck (usually when eating too fast or not paying attention to what I am doing and not chewing properly, doesn't happen…
  • 1. Date and the surgery you chose. August 4, 2011 2. How you are feeling about your choice - considering your choice & what you know now, do you think you would have picked another method (i.e. sleeve or dieting et al). - Best thing I have ever done!! Would do it again multiple times over. I am no longer diabetic and I no…
  • Congrats! It's the beginning of a brand new life for each of you! Embrace it and remember you can't compare your journey to anyone else's, it's yours and yours alone. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
  • 5 minutes on the eliptical your first time is freaking amazing!! Keep at it. Soon it will be a normal thing for you and then when you don't go you will miss it.
  • I had lap band surgery 18 months ago and have probably consumed 3 glasses of white wine since then. I just don't like to think about the 120+ calories that I am pouring through my band. There are a lot of protein choices I could have for that 120+ calories. Also, it doesn't take much anymore to make me loopy.
  • So, measurements are smaller. That's definately results. We, as a society, are so obsessed with the number on the scale. I would much rather have my measurements get smaller than the number on the scale. That's a tangible change. The scale is so finicky. I am addicted to my scale but I also measure my progress thru the way…
  • Not sure which surgery you had done. I know before my lap band was placed I was not given a calorie limit. I was told to eat 60-80 grams of protein a day and less than 50 carbs. I hit my macros most days and really try hard not to eat the carbs. Especially the empty carbs like bread (white), sugar, white rice. I stick to…
  • I had the lap band done almost 18 months ago. My goal for carbs is less than 50/day. Protein is 70-100/day. It's worked well for me as you can see. I don't hit it everyday but more often than not I do. Good luck. It's all a learning process. You'll find what works for you and then you will be off and running.
  • Coffee, Coffee, Coffee. Love me some coffee. Coffee, Protein Shakes. Try Click Protein. I am drinking the Vanilla Latte right now. It's awesome! Gave up a lot but won't give up coffee or dark chocolate. Just drink/eat it in moderation.
  • I love my hanging skin (not). But seriously, every time I look at it, it reminds me how far I have come. I told my boys I was going to have their names tattooed on my bat wings then they can be the "wind beneath my wings". They didn't think it was funny at all (what do 20 year old's know) I thought it was ingenious!
  • Maybe they wouldn't disappear if there was more acceptance. Instead of complaining about them, reach out and offer to help. There's nothing worse than attempting to change your outlook on working out and then getting the stink eye at the gym because you are new or not one of the "rats". I wouldn't me around for long either.
  • Whatever I want. Cooking Prime rib, baked potatoes, salad. Have Brownies and chocolate cream pie for others. Also have protein fluff for me. May have a glass of egg nog w/Baileys and a glass of white wine. Have a great holiday and back at it tomorrow morning.
  • I try to avoid "resolutions". I feel they are made to be broken. I have a few goals for this year: 1) continue to eat and live a healthy life 2) increase my exercise to 5 days a week 3) reach my goal of 175 lbs by 12/31/13. We can do this!!
  • I too am one of the lucky ones in that I have a very supportive husband. He has stuck with me through thick and thin. Watches what he brings into the house and what he cooks (he's retired so he has become my house husband). This is not an easy journey by far, but at least I don't have that battle to deal with.
  • 15 months out and still cannot do raw brocolli or any kind of chicken. Avoid both like the plague. Time for a fill for me. Haven't gained but can tell that I can eat more food than before.
  • Survived the annual Work Christmas Party with points to spare....Yeah for me. Luckily our employer is health conscious and provided options of beef, chicken, or fish. Opted for the Seared Ahi Tuna (boy was it good). And only had 1 glass of white wine. Was a successful party and I am none the worse for wear. Now t make it…
  • I know when I start hiccupping I have to stop eating. That's my signal that I am full. If I don't stop, ignore it or am not paying attention I always end up refunding.
  • I am a caffeine junkie and just got my Click Vanilla Latte. Love Love Love this protein powder.
  • I also have stopped using my CPAP and sleep better now without it. I am sure the loss of 100+ pounds have alot to do with that. I will have another sleep study soon but too busy right now to schedule it. My hubby also report 0 snoring.
