Had lap and surgery in 2011. Initially lost 148 pounds then had cancer scare. Hysterectomy in 2013 which all but killed my metabolism. In 2015 my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away 6 months after the diagnosis. Struggled for several years only to find out that the band has damaged my esophagus and it…

When I do soup I do the broth first and then the solids. That way you are not risking washing the solids out of your pouch before it's time. I do alot of soup in the winter. Just made a huge pot of vegetable beef soup with left over pot roast.

What about hard boiled eggs. Simple, portable, can be cooked before time and simply peel and eat. also Greek Yogurt with some almonds.

I know what I'm making next weekend for snacks all week. Will probably have to do 2 and will probably use regular cream cheese. I don't do low fat since they typically up the sugar in the items to make up for the fat. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks for this recipe!

My Oh HELL NO moment was when the physician "If we can't get your blood sugars down by next month you will need to start using insulin". I HATE shots. I was not about to have to give myself 3-4 shots a day just to live a mediocre life. 125# later and my blood sugars run between 80-90 with NO medication. Yeah me. Still have…

God bless both of you. My son has PTSD, general anxiety disorder and suspected schizophremia/schizoaffective disorder. I hurt for him every day and am trying to get him to spend more time focusing on nutrition and exercise. Good luck to both of you.

I'm in. 48 year old Mom of 3 boys - 28, 24, and 21. I have lost 120 pounds so far and want to lose another 80 pounds. See you all tomorrow morning.

Lapband surgery in August 2011. Lost 130 pounds by January 2013. Had hysterectomy in February 2013 and have gained 10 pounds. No change to my diet or exercise routine. How can I go from consistantly losing to nothing almost overnight? Sooooooo frustrating! I'm only 48 and at this rate will never hit my goal weight.

Thanks for the link to this blog. Sounds exactly like what I need to do.

For fresh produce you can't beat Co-Ops. Check out www.BountifulBaskets.com. For $15.00 you get about $50.00 worth of fresh produce (whatever is in season in your area). You could always split it with a neighbor or co-worker/student if you can't use all of it. Also, it gives you the opportunity to try things you wouldn't…

Check out www.BountifulBaskets.com. They are a co-op and i know there are several pick up areas in Kentucky. For $15 you get about $50 of produce (fruit and veggies). It's an awesome way to get your fresh veggies without breaking the bank. And if you have a small family you could always split with a neighbor or co-worker.…

I am so in.........Been struggling to get to my next goal Realistic goal - 13 pounds Fantasy goal - 27 pounds If I were to reach my fantasy goal I would be at 150 pounds down in 28 months and be able to get my next goal reward - my first tattoo. I'll be happy with my realistic goal but would be ecstatic with my fantasy one.

No, not true. Been happily married for 25 years and neither of us wears a ring. Too cumbersome at work and the gym. I don't need a ring to tell me I'm taken and if anyone asks I gladly tell them I am.

Thanks mom of 5. You are completely correct. And no, if I eat one bite of carbs (unhealthy) that's the end of it. I went back to my LB doc and got a 1 cc fill. I'm back on the losers bench.

For once I can finally say, boy am I glad I was self pay! I started the process the end of June 2011. Had 1 psych appt, 1 appt with the nutritionist (which as incorporated with my regular visit with the surgeon) and had the surgery the first part of August. So, about 6 weeks total from start to finish. Although it would…

So funny that you should post this. Just got the following in my email from SparkPeople: http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_articles.asp?id=158 This should give you a lot of options and even gives you nutritional values. Hope this help! Good Luck

Last night we went to Chilli's. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch quesidillias and ate 2 of them. Asked for a to go box. I have found the food on the children's menu is crap and I am no longer feeding myself crap. I would rather throw it away than put that stuff in my new body. I can usually make 3 meals off 1 restaurant…

Coupons, and the farmer's market........Check out www.southernsavers.com. I was able to buy a whole weeks worth of veggies for lunch, dinner, heck, even breakfast for $15.00 a few weeks ago. Nothing better than veggies picked fresh from the farm that day/week. I also shop Aldi's and I shop sales. So, we eat what is on…

Prettee2B - I was banded 2/11/2011 and have lost 131 pounds. It's hard work. The band is not a magic bullet. You still have to put in the work, but I am sure you know that. My Doc/Nut have me on a low carb/high protein diet. A normal day should be 60+ grams of protein and less than 50 net carbs. Most days I strive for 100+…

Hi Ka'aala! Welcome!! I had lap band surgery 21 months ago and feel amazing. I have managed to get off all my T2 Diabetes meds, most of my BP meds, no longer have sleep apnea, sore knees, even the insomnia and depression is much better. Surgery is NOT a magic pill. It is just as much work as anyone else and sometimes more.…

When was your surgery? What was your starting weight? What about protein amounts? How close are you to your goal weight?

Still here. Still working hard. and still consistently losing. How are you doing?

This is the beginning of the rest of your life. Good luck and God speed. Take time for you and ask for help when you need it. I will be thinking about you.

I avoid Caribs like the plague except for fruit/veggie Caribs. Those I strive to keep at 50 or below after fiber is subtracted. Also 60 -80 grams of protein. I don't have a calories goal but am usually around 1300 per day.
