neurodivergent/mentally ill weight loss friends!

hi!

my name is lem, and i'm diagnosed with severe general anxiety and am highly suspected to have ADD, BPD and PTSD. i have been in and out of hospital lately with self-harm/addiction problems and have finally taken up my doctors' advice to get out and exercise and eat a lot better than i have been for the past few weeks

i'd love to talk to anyone on here who is also neurodivergent and is exercising as part of their recovery and illness management - also, i'd love to share tips! like how to get yourself outta bed on one of those Awful Brain Days, how to exercise when going outside is too terrifying, how to use exercise when you're in a bad way to keep yourself safe. i think this could be a very good thing :}

so basically, yeah! if you're neurodivergent or mentally ill, come say hi! (if you're trans, even better!!!)

    Hi, I have Asperger's and have suffered form social anxiety, does that count? I have had an epiphany regarding nutrition, I feel a lot better mentally and emotionally after I started to eat better and exercise. I feel stronger and calmer. But I still have those moments that nothing works. I like the term nevrodivergent.

    God bless both of you. My son has PTSD, general anxiety disorder and suspected schizophremia/schizoaffective disorder. I hurt for him every day and am trying to get him to spend more time focusing on nutrition and exercise. Good luck to both of you.

    hello! of course that counts! it's nice to meet you!

    that's such good news and i'm so glad for you :} i really hope those moments get fewer and further apart. i think that for people like us, a lot of the time there's no real "better" for us - there's just ways to manage it and work it into your life.

    i like neurodivergent too! it's opposed to the term "neuroatypical" that was originally used to distinguish between ppl who are neuroTYPICAL and people that arent, but along the line somewhere people began to realise that it'd be hard for ppl with dyslexia and general reading difficulties to distinguish between the two words, so the term changed :^)
