  • Thanks everyone for the welcome! @joha5603, I've always been a big time beer girl. Once I discovered craft beer, it was all down hill from there. I successfully gained 40 pounds in the past 2.5 years as a result...lol. I will admit, weight loss and feeling better in general is my impetus for exploring an AF lifestyle. I've…
  • Hi all, I'm so glad to have found this discussion. I'll probably lurk a while. I'm a whole 4 days AF. My last drink was on 8/12. I've been trying to moderate my drinking for at least 2 or 3 years with varying degrees of success. I'm thinking this time that quitting is the answer. I love how I feel I struggle a lot because…
  • I'm on-board, have been trying to practice "mindful moderation" the past week or two with some success. After almost breaking my own nose and knocking my own teeth out during a really scary blackout weekend a couple of weeks ago I decided I simply can't drink the way I had been any longer. It also doesn't help that I've…
  • Looking forward to a mostly sober November. I just hopped on the mindful moderation bandwagon a week or so ago and have been doing better than I expected. Made it until Friday night alcohol free. Had one pint of beer after work Friday (I tend bar at a local brewery part time). Saturday was a bust, went out for a mug or two…
  • Just found you guys today. I'm on day 3 of a planned 30 day break (at least) from alcohol. Had a very rough and eye opening weekend, need to get my act together. I would be really interested in seeing this go into November. I'm struggling with being married to a pretty serious home brewer as well as working at a local…
  • A fellow gym-goer comments that "we ought to hook a generator to that treadmill" when you hop on for a run. Or....4 or the 5 pair of shoes by the back door are running shoes.
  • We need a fresh coat of paint...on the bedroom ceiling
  • LilLuLu4....you are officially my inspiration! You look wonderful, and your fitness stats are outstanding!! To OP: I'm 5'3" and hanging right around 140-142 and pretty satisfied with myself proportionally. There are a couple full pics in my profile if you'd like to look. I lost most of my boobs as well. I was sad at first,…
  • Thank you for sharing! You look wonderful! I'm struggling with my weight loss leftovers as we speak. You are very inspiring and a reminder to be proud of what has been achieved :-)
  • Depends on the food....depends on the sex
  • I get cravings for sweets really really bad too, and I do tend to indulge them...liberally. This past week my diary included on average 400 calories of chocolate-something-or-another :p, every single day . I account for it and move on. I keep my workouts the same, I actually feel better when I workout during, helps with…
  • I'm in for a little roughing up of some lipids. FR sent.
  • I tried my first outdoor run last Saturday. Same result, not as planned or desired. It's amazing how used to the treadmill I've gotten over the winter. I felt like a newbie runner all over again. I'm hoping as the roads clear off more, and I ease back into it, I'll find the enjoyment I remember prior to winter setting in.
  • I just don't give myself an option. I leave work, go straight to the gym. I get up on Saturday/Sunday morning, to the gym, or out for a walk or run. Done with dinner and stuff around the house, I'll go for a walk. I've found the more active I am, the more active I want to be. I have to force myself to sit still much more…
  • I never, ever thought I would be a runner. If you would have told me even 2 years ago that I would be training for a half marathon I would have laughed my butt off. When I think back, I think the last time I had actually ran was probably 7th grade PE class where we had to run a mile to pass the class. I was a fat,…
  • Just experienced this recently myself, twice actually. One of my cousins told my father that I look "anorexic" and one of my friends said that I look too thin. I'm 5'3", and hanging out at about 140. I don't think either of those accurately describe me. I had a really hard time with both of those statements, they really…
  • A handful of times a year maybe. I just don't really enjoy it much any more. Too salty and usually upsets my stomach. I don't feel guilty when I do eat it tho, I just make it work with my day, or accept that I may be over as a result.
  • I'm 5'3", started SL5x5 about a year ago, followed it for well over 6 months, lifting 3 times a week. I think when I was truly following it, I was eating at about 1700-1800 calories a day. I lost consistently for several months, but was very close to my goal weight anyway. You may notice on lift days, or the day after, you…
  • This sounds tasty, does it last in the fridge for a day or two, or does it brown due to the bananas?
  • I was consistently at or just over maintenance from about Thanksgiving through NYE...total damages, up 2.5 lbs. Basically within my maintenance range. I ate pretty liberally when I wanted treats, but kept things in check if nothing special appealed to me. I did maintain my workout schedule, which I credit to keeping the…
  • A year and a half ago I was that girl, almost exactly how you describe it. Over the past 6 years I fought several battles with that girl, finally something clicked, she and I reconciled our differences and eventually the fit, healthy me won. It's not an easy road to travel, you very well may have to do it more than once,…
  • Yes, it's worth it. I had lost and gained many times before this last time. I was convinced this last time was going to be another failure. However, somewhere along the way it just stuck. I don't know the magic formula or what made it different, but if I hadn't tried I would never know. Just keep trying, it'll stick.
  • All you can do is just get in there and act like you own it. Go with a plan and stick with it. I was really intimidated by the weight room at first and I would only use it on "off" hours for the longest time. Once I got comfortable and knew my routine it got so much easier to just walk in there and do my work. You belong…
  • 5'3" as well. Highest weight 240-something in 2008. MFP start weight 208 in Sept. 2013. As of this morning 139.5, almost 70 lbs. lost! Currently aiming for about 130 and see how I feel and look at that point. The first 60 pounds were actually quite easy to lose, the last 10, between 150 and 140 took damn near 6 months.…
  • Quest Bars, any flavor...ick, just ick. The after taste is horrid.
  • I love 'em and tend to grab them up on sale. I have one a couple times a week, great pre-run snacking for a bit of extra energy. Like everyone else said, if they fit in your over all calorie goals, it's all good.
  • I usually see at 2 pound gain a week to 10 days prior, then as soon as I start its gone.
  • I have PCOS. I've never taken medication for it. Apparently since losing weight my hormone levels have normalized a lot, per blood work less than a year ago. I display a lot of the traditional symptoms, including difficulty conceiving (I've had 1 unsuccessful pregnancy in 10 years of trying) and hirsutism, and very…
