I live in Northern MI and am dreading when we have real snow on the ground. We're under ice and snow for at least 4-5 months. My morning walks will likely end, not due to ice or snow, but most mornings around here are well below 0 with windchills even colder. No offense, but if you really want to workout and make an…

I'm going to throw my 2 cents in as well. I started as a treadmill runner last fall, I loved it, absolutely loved it, and due to our winters around here it was a necessity. Once spring hit I did venture outdoors and at first I had a really hard time adjusting to the change. I never thought I'd get used to it, but gave it a…

I'm about 10lbs off my desired goal weight, but have been maintaining for about 5 months. Seems my body has settled in at this point and to be perfectly honest, I'd like to lose that last little bit, but I'm pretty happy where I'm at. I like knowing how I can eat and exercise and having the wiggle room from day to day.…

I'm 5'3 as well, 35 years old, current weight 145 (down from 208). From my experience, I think you are probably in the right range calorie wise, but as others have stated, either overestimating your burn or underestimating your intake. I lift heavy 3 days a week, have for several months, and run 3 days a week. I'm able to…

Ohh yeah, I'm making this!!

I think a lot of it has to do with feeling more confident with oneself. I know when I was heavier I did everything possible to avoid being seen and in my mind judged, including wearing unattractive clothes, walking around with a scowl, keeping my eyes averted. Since losing weight I feel I carry myself with more confidence…

I run and lift. I generally run Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and do weights M, W, F or Saturday (depends). I have done both weights and running on the same day and found it works best for me if I spread the workouts out significantly, run in the morning, lift in the evening. On many of my lifting days I will run a mile or two…

As noted, your friend is misinformed. I started SL 5x5 in mid March, a total lifting noob and totally freaked out by the weight room. Best decision I ever made as far as my fitness goes. This is a great beginner program as it is not overly complicated, and if you stick with it you will see results in both your body…

A few years back I lost a significant amount of weight, almost 70 lbs, by watching my diet and walking as my only exercise. This time around I started with walking only, but eventually started running as a personal challenge. Walking is great exercise, enjoy it!

I'm in the process of donating almost everything. I did keep one pair of my big jeans as a reminder of what I will not be going back to, ever!

I count my tea. However, for reasons unknown to me, I don't count my coffee. I know, odd. I agree with prior statements, just soaking a tea bag in your water does not remove its hydrating qualities.

Start now, don't wait! I was just shy of 180 lbs in December 2013 (had already lost 25) when I started kind of lifting, but not seriously. Maybe a day or two a week if I felt like it. Started getting serious about it mid March 2014, was down to 164. I was about 45 lbs off goal in December, about 30 lbs off goal in March.…

Have you increased your speed at all? Changed your diet significantly? I would suggest slowing down a little. I've hit points like that since I've started running. I'll have a great run, then for a few days or even a couple weeks, will just feel like I'm just dragging. I've noticed if I let my body rest a little, slow down…

A year ago I could barely walk a 20 minute mile, let alone even think about running one. In that year I've plodded along, getting stronger and fitter every single month. I'm proud to say I'm maintaining at a 10 minute mile for up to about 4 miles, beyond that I do slow down to about an 11 min mile. Not sure if I'll get…

PB is 30:59, but regularly running it at about 31-32. Pushing to squeak in below 30, soon I hope. Been running just shy of a year, more serious about it since January 2014.

Because it's something I thought I'd never be able to do. Because each time I reach a new distance I feel exhilarated, didn't matter if it was my first full mile months ago, or when I broke 10K yesterday. That feeling of accomplishment is amazing.

Ditto on the gum. Tea. Some coffee. Spices. No stick cooking sprays. Calorie free sweeteners.

I'm 5'3" and I think was about 160ish and a 12. Now getting close to 145 and any where around an 8-10 depending on the brand. You'll notice brands vary widely.

Took me forever it seemed to drop in clothes sizes, but once it started happening it was crazy quick. I bet it was a good 3 or 4 months to move from 18 (US) to a 16, then it was like boom...12's, 10's, 8's all within a very short span of time. Give it more time, you will get there!
