  • Four pounds in three weeks!?! Girl. You rock! Yes, slow and steady wins the race, but better yet is it's sustainable loss. Keep doing what you're doing. You're fine. And, WELCOME to MFP! Find a way to gently put your mom off. Tell her you're doing well, staying focused, sticking to your goals and achieving progress. I'm…
  • I did zumba for several months and didn't lose anything. when I combined it with MFP, and toning exercises, that's when the weight came off. For me, it has to be exercise and calorie restriction. No other way.
  • I've only been to one. it was out of town on a band trip. I got a free tryout. I wasn't impressed. This particular location seemed more of a "do it yourself" gym - I don't think they help you build a routine. Plus the place was dirty. I didn't even want to touch the handles on the elliptical. I know this is just one branch…
  • "Coffee...the favourite drink of the civilized world" ~ Thomas Jefferson, February 14, 1824 It ain't the coffee that makes people fat. It's the stinking sugar, whole milk and whipped cream and chocolate syrup. Which are all lovely wonderful things - in moderation. Don't blame the coffee.
  • I love it! Your arms look great! Heck no, 37 isn't too late to start. You're in the prime of your life! I'm pushing 50 and have made some pretty dramatic changes myself. I am so proud of you. your kids and husband must be too. Keep it up - You are worth it!
  • I haven't really encountered any smokers at our gym, but I'm sure some must. One shouldn't judge lest he or she be judged. Just don't say anything to me when as I'm leaving after an intense circuit training or zumba workout that I turn left at the light and go get my coffee. Or after I arrive home I inhale half a bag of…
  • The Lucky One - I was most unlucky to have chosen to see it - should've seen the chimp movie
  • Awesome - you are on such a roll! Keep it up!!
  • Diet coke, Coke zero, dill pickles
  • Yeah, if you're going to blow the diet and the tranquility of your digestive system; make it on something good that youll really enjoy!
  • I agree with this person. Listen, you owe no explanation. You need to eat what is right for you. Many times I just go to the salad bar. I can't tolerate a whole lot of fatty rich foods either. Those foods don't jive with my eating plan these days either. Also, others could take a lesson from you. it's no one's business…
  • I think I'm pretty fit compared to other 29 y/olds, ummm, I mean 49 y/olds. :ohwell: I couldn't climb that rope in high school and I ain't climbing it now. But jumping jacks, jogging, situps, got 'em down. Fool your body into burning those calories instead of hoarding. Mix up the exercise, but pace yourself!
  • I have neither, but i go to the gym 4 to 5 days a week. If I use a machine, it's the elliptical because I feel I get more bang for the output. More calorie burn. We had a recumbant bike, we never used it. If I were to buy another machine, I'd say it'd be an elliptical.
  • I don't think you're over reacting at all. Listen to your intuition. This guy may at first just be a creeper. He's turning into a stalker. Please talk with your landlord. Please notify some authority about this person - I don't know what the police can do but maybe a friendly conversation from an officer might help him see…
  • Oh, yeah, I love the episode where Jerry is trying to sell the van and somehow, George's parents get ahold of it. They're in central park and say, "if you see this van rockin', don't come a'knockin' " OMGosh, and another one - the episode with Mel Torme and Kramer is wearing his white "jumping shoes" with the huge soles…
  • The episode where Kramer is debating with Elaine and Jerry and George about briefs or boxers. He says something like - "my boys - they gotta have a nest" Also, "Tell Jerry, yes, they are real and they are spectacular" And, "you are sooo good looking" How fun! Thanks for posting this topic!
  • Hey, I cut out dairy simply because of the high calorie count. I drink almond milk and eat Galaxy veggie slices for cheese. Taste just as good as regular for 40 calories a slice. I do have half a cup of ice cream occasionally and the small cartons of yogurt. But come to think of it, I think I do have less bloating. Hmmm.…
  • Hey girl, I joined in July. It was extremely difficult for me to get started and get used to the regimen of logging everything in. Now, it's like second nature, I look forward to it. Go figure. Anyway, it took me 4 or 5 weeks before I lost a pound. At that point I started really kicking it at the gym, doing elliptical, etc…
  • My diary not private because I use that feature as a personal tool to keep myself in line. I do screw up occasionally and when I do I confess my sins and move on. I also have supportive mfp friends who wouldn't dream of being overly critical or judgemental. Personally, I rarely look at my friends diaries. I prefer to…
  • OMGosh, i have been there. It's like you can't stop. It really is an addiction. But you DID break it, and you lost 30 lbs, so we all know you CAN do this. I agree with one of the posters who said cold turkey. The problem is your blood sugar goes up, and then when it crashes, your body is craving more sugar. Try an egg for…
  • OMGosh, thank you for sharing. What an inspiration - congratulations!! Don't you just love MFP?? The folks on here have helped me too. We all have our battles in our closets or in bags under the bed. I'm glad you kept that bag all these years. That's a well earned victory happy dance for you!!
  • I have to agree with this poster. Personally, being a woman of almost 50 - I like to see myself curvy, but toned. But not ripped. I don't find that attractive at all. Again, any person can look fabulous on the outside; but be miserable on the inside. Choose happiness.
  • I have to see if I have just dance 2. I think I have the first one.
  • what you said is so encouraging - should remind us that what we're doing is a lifetime journey. thanks for sharing
  • Hey, I live in NW Florida - humidity here is horrible. I have several scars on the front of my shins from skin cancer removals. I use concealer - it's thicker than traditional foundation - it sticks, it conceals and it works. You know, chances are that the folks you see tonight know of your active lifestyle. Don't worry…
  • I don't know if these are 24 oz but I really like the large sized water bottles you can buy in the water aisle at the grocery store. I know Evian and Dasani offer them. I just keep rinsing them out with hot water and use over and over. Then I don't sweat it if I happen to lose it or it gets thrown out, just get another one…
  • LOL, whew! Congratulations! You do look great!
