  • Forum's been quiet, hope everyone is doing well! I've got sort of a rough week ahead of me - the whole time I've been doing this 'eat clean, exercise' thing I've been able to work from home, but here in an hour or two I'm off to catch a flight to Detroit to work onsite for a week. Not looking forward to trying to eat…
  • First off, good luck with your biopsy - all of this is about being healthy, so take care of your health first! Now, to the fun stuff =) As I've probably let on, I pretty heavily favor strength training in my workouts, and you really do not need to go to a gym or have a bunch of equipment to get a good strength work out in.…
  • Depending on what your trainer is doing with you, it may be that you are doing more circuit training? I would highly suggest investing in a HRM to track how much you are burning. In MFP there are 2 options, you could use Strength training or circuit training; neither of these accurately estimated how much I burned with my…
  • Just posting a little NSV..had my friday weight training session, and my trainer brought in a friend of his (also a trainer who is just starting out) to sort of step in for a round of my work out (he asked, I didn't mind). Was interesting, cause this trainer didn't know me at all in terms of what we normally do, weights,…
  • Down 1lb this week, to 213lb - nother sort of dissappointing loss week, but we'll see how it pans out next week - upped my calories ALOT this week on my strength days, so may just be adjusting. Speaking of strength days, I did get in the weekly challenge already, and doing a 3rd session tonight. I also had my water…
  • Well, I'm a bit OCD - and by a bit I mean my family jokes that I'm like Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory =p, so generally when am focused on something I do pretty well about it. But for me, I guess when i'm feeling lazy about doing something it's probably the accountability aspect of it for me that keeps me going. I see my…
  • I don't know if there is any sure way of learning to love running, but maybe looking a bit out and find a goal to work towards, so not just running for the hell of it? Like find and sign up for a 5k or something - that's what I'm doing, and it has changed the way I think of my cardio. It isn't now just something I HAVE to…
  • I'm doing good, gj on getting in your workouts! Last night was chest and triceps at the gym, started a new routine which was sort of neat and challenging. Going to sort of miss the old sets we were doing, cause I knew what weights I was at and could see the progression, and with the new ones it feels like starting over,…
  • Well, I did go get some Vibrams today - took 'em out for a test jog. I knew to keep it light, thankfully from reading other folks in transitioning to them. I can definitely see why - my calves are on fire! Totally feel the burn there. Overall I think I like them, once my calves adjust to the activity anyway - right now…
  • I'm not an expert at all on running shoes - just make sure whichever pair you get allows for running in good form while still being comfortable (avoiding heel striking, etc)- I've heard many times that you can go to running specific stores and get help with shoe selection. I'm thinking of going out today to get myself a…
  • Just posting a little status, had my progress day today with the trainer, which we do every other Friday. Lost another 2.5lbs - wasn't as much as I would have liked, but it's progress. On a positive note, I did maintain my lean body mass while dropping bit more than another percent of body fat, so woot! Didn't get to do a…
  • My workouts would I guess be considered 'circuit' - I'm not quite sure. I do my strength days 3 days a week, 60minutes a session. They are always organized as major muscle group, major muscle group, minor, then cardio burst. Rest is minimal, say 15-30s tops between these sets (or essentially the time it takes to get from…
  • Oh, I'm doing this too, the tattoo - I already have one - maybe that can be a QOTD later, tattoos. Looking forward to getting something 'big' done - course, needs to be non-visible under dress clothes, etc, so back, upper arms or something, but trying to come up with a design/ideas now while I have time to think on it.
  • Muscle soreness/pain is addictive, for sure - I do strength training 3 days a week; basically leaves me not a single day of the week where there isn't some part of my body that isn't very sore (DOMS) (today my chest is just starting to feel normal again, but the biceps and my back are starting up). It isn't as extreme as…
  • Lol - you are sooo not alone on this. Well, let me amend - I do not want to 'rock a bikini.' But I am with you on the vanity part of it - I totally am going all the way to a 6-pack. I'm a software developer - I work in IT, not many of us with killer bods so to speak. So, have to be completely honest with myself here and…
  • Your name implies you are a Texan, so I'm inclined to allow it (though I don't think it's my call =)
  • Hrm, QOTD - I imagine these will get hard to think of as we go all the way till 11/23 - that or they'll go silly =) But, I'll give one a shot - QOTD: What NSV/Self Reward are you most looking forward to? Many of us setup rewards for ourselves for hitting mini goals, or maintaining, etc - just wondering what people have out…
  • Heh, make me one more for the tattoo club - also what I plan to do when I get to my ultimate goal.
  • I can relate about the losing your appetite, one of my medications has a similar side effect and I don't like it at all. What's really helped me is trying to keep a schedule for eating, if I don't I skip meals and don't realize it =/.
  • Definitely this - just got my FT7 this weekend, did my first strength training session with my trainer on monday with it. I've just been using MFP's estimate for those sessions, around 300 cals, after the hour, stopped my watch and I was at 876, heh.
  • I'd be down for a weigh-in - I normally only weigh in every other Friday, but I'm sure I can get at least my weight every Friday. As for challenges, I'm up for one - guess up to the group if people want to do points and everything along with it. Either way I think weekly challenges could be fun.
  • My meal choices are so boring, lol - think I need to come have dinner at your place =p I generally just do chicken breast, veggie and either brown rice or a wheat pasta. If I go outside that norm it'll normally be on weekends, did do a lean ground turkey meatball w/ wheat spagphetti thing not too long back that was…
  • Well, got to use my HRM for the first time with my trainer tonight - makes me think I'm going to have to seriously evaluate my food intake. For the last 6 weeks I've been just using the generic MFP 60 minutes strength training to log those sessions, which I think estimated ~300 calories; tonight stopped the HRM and my…
  • Ya, busy. Actually got called in by work early AM this morning (thankfully going to work for me basically entails opening my laptop). Oh, and I went out and went ahead and bought myself a HRM (polar FT7). Did my first workout with it today, just a bit of cardio, jogging, definitely makes you want to push harder doesn't it?…
  • 20% is pretty fit for women if I recall correctly - if you haven't seen this link before, I found it helpful when I came across it on these forums the first time: http://www.leighpeele.com/body-fat-pictures-and-percentages And I read this article on another site recently, just thought it was neat - if you haven't seen it…
  • 1 cup of OJ, 1 cup of water, 1 cup of strawberry yogurt, some frozen blueberries, and a scoop of whey protein, all blended up together into a smoothie - pretty much my breakfast everyday, heh.
  • Is that the warrior dash in Vegas? I think I remember there being one there in september - a buddy of mine is doing it, wanted me to fly out there and do it with him. My workout's on Friday's is strength w/ my trainer guy - we do an hour on legs and shoulders on Fridays. My strength days are normally organized like major…
  • For me it wasn't just one thing. I've always told myself I'd 'eventually' get in good shape, just eventually never came along. Then in July finally something just clicked, stars aligned, or whatever, and I decided it was time to do it. I guess added motivation is my big sister is getting married in November, so going to…
  • Hey - if you are taking male applicants, I'll join up - your November end date lines up just about perfectly with my end goal. Name: Josh Height: 5’8” Starting Weight: 216.5 Goal Weight (11/23): 185-190 (more of a goal body fat % ~ 12-13%) Exercise Plan: Streng training 3x a week, cardio 3x a week Eating Plan: This is…
