I would say that once you find something that you enjoy and gets you excited, then it gets easier. I found that I enjoy running and strength training, so I look forward to getting faster or running further, and lifting heavier weights. And yes, at first I felt like falling over after jogging a mile but now I can bust out a…

Feel free to add me!!!! I'm currently in the middle of NROLFW. I re-plugged all my stats into several TDEE calculators a couple weeks ago and set my calorie goal to reflect that. I find its a lot easier to log my exercise as 1 calorie and just eat up to my TDEE calorie goal. But I'm very close to my weight goal so I'm more…

Thank you for posting this article- very inspiring!!

I definitely hear ya!! I was blown away at how many calories were in things that I didn't even realize- especially things like lattes and smoothies!!

I asked this question on MFP too once... basically bathroom scales that measure body fat % are the least accurate- that's what I'm told. I already have one and I can tell you that's probably true. One week it'll say 30%, next week it'll say 28%, then it'll go back up to 31%. And although I've lost weight, over the past…

Wow. I have to say I totally appreciate this thread!! Thank you so much for posting. I've been struggling with my body image and wanting to look a certain way... Its so helpful to know that celebrities and models actually look like normal people!! Its such a shame and outrage that so many women and girls feel bad about…

The Color Run was my first 5K and I loved it!! So fun!

I always wondered about this too. I thought if I wasn't sore then maybe I didn't work hard enough but then I wondered if I'd be sore all the time forever!! It makes sense that you'd be sore after a new exercise, but not necessarily if you're just adding more weight/reps to your existing exercise. Thanks for asking this…

In the fall I went inside to the treadmill because I was afraid of the cold. After a few weeks I got SO bored and went back outside. To my surprise, I was 'babying' myself on the treadmill and could run at a faster pace naturally outside. I hate the treadmill because you are 'stuck' to a speed unless you push a button.…

I'm 5'4" and lost over 20 lbs eating 1500 cal a day, and also ran 3x a week. When I was eating less I was sad and hungry.

Pear shaped. Go figure. I've been losing boob but my butt/thighs still look chunky to me :P No swim suit hides big thighs!!

You can do it, but you'll probably be walking a lot of it and risk injury. Why not work up to it and try a 10K first? My longest run in one time was 7.4 miles in 1.5 hours and my feet were killing me and I run on average 2-3 days a week. Running 13.1 miles is rough on your body especially if you're not used to it. I run…

Awesome! I have similar stats to you and have just started NROL4W also! Thanks for showing your results, it gives me hope!!

I have heard that home scales are not accurate in measuring body fat. I have one that supposedly measures it, but I've lost 27 lbs and the body fat % has hardly changed, or moves up and down but seems to hover around the same number.

You could also cook chicken breasts ahead of time in the slow cooker. Shred it and freeze it. It thaws quickly and can easily be added to a serving of pasta, a salad, or a sandwich. Frozen individually packaged fish fillets are easy to prepare also.

Awesome!!

If you suddenly dropped your calories you probably lost water weight at first. Don't weigh yourself more than once a week. Weight fluctuates a couple of lbs day to day. You just started like a week ago!! You gotta be patient if you want long term results. I've gained and re-lost lbs before. Its probably going to happen.…

This is awesome! I don't have kids but they obviously pick up on the habits of their parents. I've recognized some of my own unhealthy habits are ones I've gotten from my own parents. How great that you are setting a good example for them :)

Aw, I like this. I'm adding you!! :D

Damn it.

Happens to me. I just figure its bloating and it never really impacts my overall weight loss efforts.

Yup, you need to ease into it. When I start feeling like I can't breathe, it means I'm going too fast and need to slow down. Warm up properly, and run at a comfortable pace. You can add short bursts where you run faster for a short distance, then back off again. That will help you slowly increase your speed :)
