If you eat 950 cals one day and 1800 the next, over time that averages out you're probably ending up right around your TDEE and you don't lose or gain weight. Weigh loss and gain happens over time. If you eat less consistently over a couple months you'll lose weight. If you overeat consistently over a couple months you'll…

Whenever you have time and are hungry. It doesn't matter WHEN you eat. I waitress so when I work during dinner sometimes I don't get to eat until 9 or 10pm. But it fits in my day that way so its fine.

Do it! I ran my first half in November. I followed a training program and my longest run was 12 miles about 2 weeks before the race. I had only ever run 5k and 10ks until then. I consistently worked up my long runs from 7 to 8 to 9 and so on each week, with a couple of short runs per week. I ran my half with an average of…

You can do it!! I'm in the same spot right now. I can't be trusted off the grid. I think I'll have to keep a close watch on my calories and weight for the rest of my life, but if that's what it takes then that's what I'll do :)

Gin and tonic with lime. But I do love me some wine!! And beer... and margaritas...

If I had the proper lifting equipment and a treadmill I wouldn't need the gym and I'd workout at home. I really don't like workout DVDs, I find them repetitive and therefore they bore me after I do them more than 2 or 3 times. And usually they're just trying to get you to buy more stuff. It depends on what type of workout…

It would be easier to change your activity level to lightly active. Because that's what it sounds like to me. It should even out then. No need to keep logging the random walking because it would be figured in. Or you could get a FitBit. I love mine. It would take the guesswork out :)

I will happily add you!! :)

Doing things I haven't done before- running further, running faster, lifting heavier, more pushups, etc. Fun stuff!!

Bump!

Bump. I tried not counting but over the holidays I ended up overeating, not working out much, and gaining. Right now I'm logging again and working out more regularly again but not weighing in. I just know my clothes are way too tight right now :(

I just jumped into it with NROLFW. That worked well for me. If you're very unsure, a trainer might not be a bad idea for a couple sessions just to get you accustomed to the gym and equipment. Right now I'm working my way through Nia Shanks Beautiful Badass. Look it up- its a downloadable manual full of different training…

I had the same problem. I would over buy and things would just go bad. Buy only a couple different veggies at a time- carrots and peppers for snacking and maybe two different options for dinners. For dinner I love to roast veggies in the oven- green beans, brussel sprouts, asparagus, squash. Drizzle with a bit of olive oil…

Eat the cookie! Or eat it later. I find that once I eat something sugary, I want more and more sugar. That's why I try to save my treats until the end of the day. Either way, one cookie will not derail your progress.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm about to complete my first half marathon this weekend. People ask if I'll jump to a full next and I'm like- Haha NO, not for a while. Training for a half was hard enough, I can't imagine how hard it is to prepare for a full! Kudos to you for finishing, you did great!!

It may be that I need to pay attention more to what I eat the night before a long run or race day. I never thought about it before!!
-
Thank you so much everyone for your advice!!!! I have at least one more long run (12 miles) to try something out. Hopefully I hit on something that works for me. Maybe eventually I'll get more used to these long runs, but prior to starting this training, the longest I ever ran was 7miles. I definitely found bananas don't…

Way to go! You did great and should be proud of yourself. I'm running my first half on November 2nd- nervous but excited :)

Wow good for you! People think I'm crazy for doing a half marathon lol. Good luck to you!!

Feel free to add me :) I log in every day and try to comment on posts as much as I can!

"You keep doing what you're doing, I like eating too much" I still eat! And I eat well, thank you very much! The comment I hate most is "go eat a cheeseburger" I hate hate hate that. It rubs me the wrong way and I find it very rude.

Click on Food. Click on My Foods. Click on Create Food. That should do it!

My gym has wi-fi and I use it to stream Pandora, that's all.

I lost 30 lbs last year and I love to run! I did my first 10k this month and am looking to do a few more as well as move up to half-marathons! Feel free to add me as a friend and good luck to you :D

My grandpa told me that I look so skinny he hardly recognized me. Which was a good compliment! Then he said in front of my family how I used to be on the "see food diet... see food, eat food!" It made me laugh, but I didn't realize he had even noticed my habits or weight before. The same night my cousin told me how great I…

Hm that's interesting. I've personally never thought of a half-marathon as anything negative, as in not a full race or something like that. But I do see how it could seem that way. I hope that most people at least know a full marathon is over 20 miles so a half-marathon is nothing to scoff at. It is its own race so it does…

I just tried changing how mine looks twice and it won't update.
