  • My goal is to drop another 50 pounds next year. Doesn't sound like much, but I can be sure I'l keep it off at that pace. I also will learn how to stop listening to the negative voices in my head that keep telling me that I'm not worth real love, success, happiness ... and that learning may involve giving someone an…
  • My husband got me the table saw I wanted ... and since the whole point of getting it was to finish some projects, we put it together this last week and made some progress. Now, though, my daughter and her husband want to use it this week to build a doll house for their daughters. Guess this present will get lots of use!!
  • My husband is 9 months younger than I am. He calls me his "cougar". hahaha I was also married to a man who was 12 years older than I was (I was 45 at the time). He couldn't keep up with me and it would have only gotten worse.
  • I think it's easy for doctors to tell you you're overweight and need to lose, but it would be oh so helpful if they actually had some valid, accurate information to help you with. I've been doing a lot of research over the last 6 months both here on MFP and elsewhere so I knew what my BMR was, what my calorie intake needed…
  • Completing the mind-numbing task of reading through 3 large vendor responses for my project and creating a pre-read summary of the information for the doctors who are too "busy" to read the dang things themselves.
  • OK, I'm in. SW: 332
  • LOL. Our father's must have been related. Between Yorgi Yorgesson's christmas songs and resounding renditions of "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt" I was permanently scarred.
  • I posted these on another thread the other day, but here they are again. Still have a LONG way to go. First picture is 2 years ago ... current picture is down about 60 pounds from there.
  • It wasn't a huge change ... went from 2230 cal/day to 2400 cal/day. But it was enough to make a difference.
  • I'd love to get in on this. 11/25/11: 334.6 12/02/11: 334.4 12/09/11: 330.8 Down 3.6 pounds!!
  • Salsa chicken ... just pour your favorite salsa over the chicken breasts, top with some mushrooms and maybe a little cheese. Throw in the oven and bake until the chicken is done. Yummy!!!
  • I don't have a HRM either so I just check my heart rate at various times during the workout, take an average of those values and then plug that in to one of the many calorie calculators that are available on the internet.…
  • You'll find out that "diet" is an ugly word around here. Don't deprive yourself of the things you love; just learn to eat them in moderation. Have a spoonful of ice cream, or a single serving of chips. Build those favorite foods into your daily calorie count so you don't feel deprived. Just be sure they are balanced out…

  • I'm Carla and I'm adopted. My parents were fortunate enough to be able to adopt 4 children ... unheard of in the 60's!! We've all known we were adopted from the beginning. It's never been a big deal. Our parents made sure we knew how honored they were that our birth mothers trusted them to raise their children well ... and…
  • I actually just made egg nog french toast on Sunday. It's really not awful. I used about 3/4 cup of egg nog and made 6 pieces. The egg nog would have been about 330 calories; bread was 100 calories per slice ... so 155 calories per slice.
  • The sushi chef may be able to put something special together for you. Just stay away from fried rolls and cream cheese!! If you went with some smoked salmon or crab (imitation though it may be) with green onions or whatever other sushi veggies they have you should be OK
  • Mine is my legs. I'm not one of those women who was blessed with gaining weight in their mid-section and hips and still maintained beautiful legs. Nope ... my weight distributes itself pretty evenly all over my body including my cankles. Even when I was younger and looked fabulous I still had large calves, so it's pretty…
  • I've used it for something that's not in the database, or a meal at a restaurant where they've posted calorie counts but not individual nutrient info.
  • Oops ... unintentional double post
  • My husband is picky too ... no mushrooms, spinach, zucchini, etc, etc, etc. And all the veggies he wants to eat have to be cooked to mush. He won't eat brown rice, won't eat whole grain breads. So I cook healthy meals and he either eats it and picks out what he doesn't like, or he fixes his own dinner!!
  • Awesome job!!
  • I use them in the breakfast smoothie I drink 3x/week. Taking them for the omega-3 and fiber. One note ... if you use them in smoothies you can't let the drink sit for very long or the chia seeds gel up and you end up trying to drink pudding!!
  • Staying as far away from the stores as possible!! I've been scoping out the deals on bfads.net and will do a little on-line shopping. We've already got most of our shopping done and shipped already. Have to plan early when kids live overseas!
  • Ceviche is great, and they also have a couple of other steamed fish dishes. The rotisserie chicken or some of the beef dishes should be OK as well. Peruvian food is so yummy!!
  • Feel free to add me! I've lost 26 pounds in the last 4 1/2 months, but have another 90 to go to meet my first goal. I lost 100 pounds a few years ago but regained about 30. Now back on track but I sure could use the support from others who are on a similar journey.
  • Totally annoyed along with you! I've lost 26 pounds in 4 1/2 months. I know that's a healthy, sustainable weight loss, but I'm feeling so frustrated when I think about the fact that it's going to take another year to reach my first goal weight. I'm not feeling like my clothes are fitting much better, but other people say…
