Congrats to everyone on their SVs and NSVs in this thread!

I hear ya on the healthcare front, I struggled with that this year. I worked for a healthcare company for a long time but it's much different living it! I'm in Seattle so the weather here is basically fall most of the year, which I love. Texas seems very nice though, I'd be tempted to move there just so I could have my own…

Oops sorry I missed your question. I've been following keto/low carb since Oct 2015!

I've heard of people making keto crackers using parmesan cheese, essentially they put little piles of cheese on parchment paper and bake it until they are golden brown, then once they cool they are cracker-like. Pepperoni can be done like that too, baked flat like little crackers.…

I swear we work at the same company. Lol.

OMG I love the yay scale.. hahaha

You have more willpower than I - I'd eat the entire thing! Lol. Looks good!

Don't be discouraged, especially as women our weight goes all over the place. We retain water during our cycles and especially during shark week. Stick to the plan and it will all "woosh" one day and fall off. I understand it sucks to see a plateau but we all go through it I promise. You also might be gaining muscle and…

Never thought of that but that's a good point OP!

You shouldn't have to limit veggies by a lot. Subtract the fiber from your carb count to get your net carbs. Most veggies, spinach included have fiber which will bring the total net carb count down. 1 cup of spinach is 1 carb and has 0.7g of fiber so you should be able to have a few cups a day if you wanted to. Romaine,…

This year for Thanksgiving I'll be roasting a chicken, my hubby is tired of turkey so I'm not complaining. Our meal will be low carb, with carb options for sides, ie stuffing and sweet potatoes. Treat it like you'd treat an allergy and just keep them separate, but available for those who want them and aren't trying to lose…

I was a pre-diabetic.. but I just got my bloodwork back and after a year of low carb I think I've reversed it. I'm waiting on my lipid panel and then I'll post all my test results as of yesterday. Feel free to peruse my diary, it's open! I try my best to stick with ~20g of net carbs a day and around 1400 - 1600 calories.…

@LowcarbNY Great post!

Oh no! If it was at Starbucks, they offer almond milk which only has 3 grams of sugar so 3 net carbs. Their coconut milk isn't worth it, it's not unsweetened :( Any other coffee shop I'd stick with an iced coffee and heavy whipping cream for sure!

I found this on pinterest last weekend and made it, 100% recommend: http://lilluna.com/creamy-swiss-chicken-bake/

My NSVs this week are: - Ordered wings for take out instead of Arbys or McDonalds which we used to get all the time. Tastes way better and since it was wing night, they cost just as much! - Tried a few new recipes. Low carb pumpkin spice pancakes, keto biscuits, and a dish called creamy swiss chicken bake which was…

When did you start? It will take your body awhile to adapt, and yes as a general rule you have to be at 20g net carbs or less to get into ketosis. You'll know what foods have fiber if you're entering them into MFP. Spinach does have carbs and it does have fiber. Most leafy greens are safe to have during Keto, but they…

If it's an indian recipe (like curry) you can use some heavy cream, then suppliment the rest with coconut milk and full fat plain yogurt, the lowest in carbs you can find. Heavy cream is just a thickener but yogurt will work great too, just keep an eye on the carbs.

Yes! I stick to 20 - 30g net carbs every day. Today I'm fasting though so it won't get interesting until later. I also just got my blood work done so I'll be posting my before and after results in the LCHF forum!

I would get one just for the yearly wellness check - they are free with most insurance companies. I like having a yearly update on my weight, blood pressure, and lipid panels all in one place on the providers website. It's pretty cool that in the US you can just log in to their site and pull all that data yourself if you…

I have (had?) PCOS which caused fertility issues. For the longest time I just assumed it would never happen, then I followed Keto to lose weight for my wedding and as you can see by my pic it also boosted my fertility. My daughter was born 10 months after my wedding. PS: You're a great friend :)

Congrats!! I'm getting blood work done tomorrow, I can't wait. I must be the only person on the planet excited about blood work. Lol.

Ah yes the sugar binge... I would cut out eating all sugar if that's your case. Having a handful of raspberries or blackberries would sometimes send me into a crazy sugar binge, my brain would be like AHH I remember this, EAT ALL THE SWEETS! Have you tried fat bombs? Until you can control it of course, then enjoy low carb…

I don't know about your eating habits but I typically always ate a ton at night, so what I did was I'd skip breakfast, have a small lunch between 11-12, and then eat most of my calories at night. That way I could have a big dinner and a snack. It takes awhile to get used to but it can be done. I also echo everyone elses…

Agreed @cstehansen. I listened to one yesterday that said Keto wasn't meant to be on a full time basis, because he likes having carbs every once in awhile. He uses it as a tool every now and then. I agree with that 100% - if you've lost the weight and are in maintenance, I don't see anything wrong with upping your carbs to…

There isn't anything magical, no, and I agree it isn't for anyone but it's an ideal WOE for someone who is over 300lbs and could potentially be diabetic/pre-diabetic or could have developed PCOS which tremendously affects your ability to lose weight. I don't know if OP is diabetic or where she's at so I'm not recommending…

@Bubba1922 Some things in the MFP database have "net carbs" but then cause wonky errors with the MFP macro/net carb addon for Google Chrome (if you are using it, if not this doesn't apply to you). Since I'm using the addon I look for "minus" as in, minus sugar alcohols. So my search might be "carb smart ice cream minus" or…

@kpk54 I just burst out laughing at my desk. So true!
