Enjoy your family visit, MM. How many more weeks do you have of yoga, V? I have so much fruit in the house, I will have that for lunch. I'm going to walk this morning, do my PT exercises, and go to a yoga class this afternoon. Also, I will clean the house. I need to update my yoga sheet - it goes on the wall near the yoga…

So much news, MM! When it rains, it pours, maybe? Hope it all turns out well. I went to the PT yesterday - it felt so good. She recommended I try to adjust my sleeping position. Sometimes, when I'm on my side, I have one leg hiked up and the other straight, so my hips are completely askew. I also notice that I: almost…

Hope you feel better, no matter what your news, MM. V - how was the show last night? I didn't get picked. It would have been ok either way as this trail was supposed to last that long and definitely not longer than Friday. I was surprised I didn't get picked as I was juror number 5 and didn't really have a lot to say about…

I've never been to a retreat center, but I do attend workshops that span many days. I usually just find a teacher that I think I will like, stay in a hotel and create my own retreat. It's usually a lot cheaper. Omega is a nice retreat center in NY, from what I hear. Omega has many different teachers come visit - from…

CP, it's been awhile... Still didn't get a walk in, but will today. I'm off to jury duty this morning. I hope I find a parking space that's not too expensive. Public transportation is less than stellar here - I would probably have to get up 30 minutes earlier to take the bus - that's not going to happen. So, if I don't get…

Hope you get some quiet times in, MM. Well I hope that for everyone  So far, not too sore this morning. My thighs were screaming yesterday though, and I was exhausted. I'm still sleepy this morning. Today - 2.5 hours of yoga, maybe a light walk this afternoon. I harvested so many peaches from my tree, I may need…

Me again. Up early on a Saturday for, what else, a yoga workshop. Got in late last night from it as it's about an hour away from here, and it ended late. 5 hours of yoga is the plan today, and that's enough. Enough, boogaloo.

The heat is back. I have a yoga workshop this weekend, which will hopefully be nicely air conditioned, so no worries there. This morning: walk and PT exercises, take back microwave that doesn't work - find one that works - hopefully it's not an electricity problem - both microwaves (the old one I just threw out and the new…

I use "Kaboom" to clean my showers. Seems to work ok as long as there is some scrubbing to go with it. Anytime I use the chemical stuff, I get a headache from the fumes. Hope you wear them out, MM. The park should be good. Races across the backyard are good too. Jumping rope contests. Cartwheel contest. Coloring contest.…

Any damage to your cars, MM? I heard DFW had massive hail - someone posted a stone as big as their palm. We had some hail as well (that was unexpected!), but I think it was "just" quarter sized. I thought I saw a biggie across the street, but it was 5am and I wasn't about to go find out. So what is the "whatever" V? The PT…

Welcome back, V - New York is super cool. Hope you keep your sanity, MM. Today is the visit with the PT, will report back tomorrow. There were many times yesterday that I just wanted to check something on the computer. Most of them I resisted. This thing really sucks time away. Today - lots of walking with yoga tonight.…

My goal for the week is to only check the computer/email twice a day. Considering I don't use it for work, this should be simple, right? Too much of my day is wasted in front of the computer. Today is double yoga and a walk. It's getting hot, so outside is a less attractive option. Still sleepy from this weekend, boogaloo.

I'm back from Fort Worth. Had a good time, though not as much exercise as I was expecting to get. Made it safely with no storms, my house was hit with some small hail though. Need to get everything back to normal around the house, boogaloo.

Just had a rough night at the hotel - it was loud, the cheapness of the hotel made it so, no one was being obnoxious. I'm up too late to make it to yoga, but there is a room here I could practice in, so I'll probably do that and walk on the treadmill. Sleepy, boogaloo

I'm up early for a trip to Fort Worth. I think the storms are coming sooner than expected - ugh. Hopefully we'll make it without having to stop and wait for them to pass. I'm going to get a quick walk in before we leave, so I can stay alert while driving. Will get some more exercise this afternoon. Rain not storms,…

Walking to the Farmer's Market sounds wonderful, MM! Enjoy Bunko CP - I don't know what it is either. Got an appointment with the Physical therapist for Tuesday, so that will be fun. Today, I'm teaching, cleaning, walking, and probably doing some yoga tonight. We are going to leave early for Fort Worth tomorrow morning,…

Happy 40th V! Enjoy yourself! Hope you keep your sanity, MM, Hope you get good news from the doc, CP. I ended up walking an hour yesterday. I couldn't help myself. I did it at a slow or medium pace, so still a day off. Another hour walk today and double yoga. I'm going to call a PT today to make an appointment about my…

Are you asked to babysit a lot, MM? It's ok if it's reciprocated, but otherwise I think you are taken advantage of. We do have a slight chance of rain in the forecast, but it's on Friday - when we head to Fort Worth! Luckily, we have some wiggle room for when we leave - so hopefully we can miss the storms. Are you leaving…

atouria - do you mean mats or mat bags? The only mat bag I've tried is the one on that web site. I like it because there is enough space for either my maduka or my regular mat - the mats can be folded or rolled, and I can fit my purse, a water bottle and a blanket in there as well. In my classes, some people use a harness…

Phoenix - yes, that happens. I'm sure it happens in other classes too, just the music is too loud to hear anything  atouria - I like this one: http://www.yogamartusa.com/Pages/products.html they aren't cheap, but they are handmade. You could get the manduka one and blot out the logo.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean do people show off? Sure, I've been to those classes. Not all classes are like that.

Any teacher worth their salt should be able to modify the poses for you. Will it help you lose weight? Maybe. Any movement is better than no movement.

I like the Susan Deason one as well. Also anything by Rodney Yee is great. I would recommend you go to your library and see what they have first. You could try a bunch of different ones and see what you like. Also, there are plenty of free podcasts - yoga journal has some - that you could try

Just got called for jury duty. Oh well. I've been called three other times and never served. I'm sure I'll moan about it when the time comes (May 31st). Today is beautiful! Cool and clear, high in the low 80s. Should be a great exercising day. I felt so good after my practice yesterday, I'm going to do the same sequence…

Iyengar yogini here - though I dabble in Anusara at times.

Remember the days when 51 was crisp (in the winter it's walking weather, in the summer it's cold, funny that)? have fun camping. With the in-laws in town, we'll be eating lots. Had a good dinner at my parents house last night. Today we are going out for lunch and dinner. I hope to get a lot of walking in. I'm doing yoga…

I heard about the In-N-Out all they way down here. I'm currently playing "get my money back" with FTD. What happened to this company? They've completely gone down hill as far as customer service. They also do one of my least favorite things - ask you to place your order on the web, but then have no way to get in touch with…

So do y'all think MM and I have the same cat? Mine looks a bit skinnier these days. Yes, CP, you should check in more often. A week from today, V will be 40. Happy early birthday. It is raining a bit. Looks like the big one is coming though. I hope the brunt of it comes before I go to work, subbing for someone. I was…

Iyengar would be the same as Hatha, but that doesn't mean you should switch! I do almost all Iyengar. I don't believe the numbers, myself. I don't think Bikram burns more because it's hotter. Ashtanga is a harder sequence, normally even harder than most Vinyasa. (both Bikram and Vinyasa stem from Ashtanga, btw) You…
