Hmm - my first trainer was reluctant to go anywhere near the weights room despite me informing her that's what I wanted to do. I found one that did and we have been working happily together now for more than 2 years. Time to move on.

Probably just as stable as doing body weight squats on an upturned Bosu

You see a new post about new years and the gym and you know it will end in tears.

This is what I have done with shoulder press, dead lifts, lunges, press ups and bench press. I love all of these exercises now.

Trainer recommended mixed grip, which I started out with, but I prefer overhand (possibly because I use straps?).

I lost a lot from mine (was a J/K and now DD) and was prepared just to live with the 'deflation'. I have found that mine have improved with lots of chest exercises (incline bench press, db press, full body press ups etc) and I am in my mid 40s.

I am with the OP on this one. I do my lifting after work and tend to bump into the same regulars all the time, some of whom I am quite friendly with. They are used to seeing me there and they know that I know what I am doing and that I lift heavy. There are very few women lifters using my gym. If I change my lifting…

Another person here who doesn't like the word moist. To add to the list, flange and awesome (I work with a lot of Canadians who seem to love the word).

Incline bench press and proper chest to the floor push ups worked for me

Risk, I wanted to take over the world

Sort of. I am a West Ham season ticket holder and as much as I love my team, I accept that they are never going to be the greatest. Knowing this, I hit the pub before a match, and if a good or bad result, will hit the pub after. This normally involves my eating of bad (but tasty) foods after leaving the pub. We are not…

I add protein powder to my porridge. I use 0.75 of a scoop of powder with water/milk and blend, then add it to the oats and cook. If I don't blend the powder first, it clumps.

Anything by Cliff Richard :explode:

I always do, and I find it helps get rid of it quicker. The only time I wouldn't work out with a cold, is if it moves to the chest.

I drink a can of diet coke every day, I also drink 2 litres of water a day. I am happy with my weight loss.

Must be your gym, although to have come to the decision that everyone is a cocky know it all after one visit seems a bit harsh. My gym is great. People only talk to you to be friendly or to offer encouragement. There has been the odd occasion where I have seen someone offer advice in the weights room, but they have done so…

True - I broke my nail lifting weights the other day

Will send invite as I definitely qualify

I am primarily a lifter but ran my first half marathon in September. I would like to add chaffing to the list, I bled in a couple of places during my half which didn't make for attractive post run pics. I always find when I cross path with other runners, we always check out each others footwear

My PT makes me do these sometimes, they can be quite testing. The exercise is basically a squat, although balance comes into play. Squats will obviously help, ideally with added weight. For balance, try doing squats on a upturned bosu ball. Hand placement may help, try doing them with your hand linked infront of you. Good…

Wow, that was a shock :-(

Sign up for a half marathon and get your friends and family to sponsor you. If you are anything like me, you will not want to let everyone (and your charity) down, and will put in the training required to meet your challenge. Also, find some sport that's a bit more interesting than just gym cardio and you may find you…

20+ years ago, eating under 1,000 calories a day and not eating back exercise calories. This is what my friends told me would work, and it was before the internet. Could only ever stick it for a short time, passed out more than once and would end up putting the weight back on. Great idea for a 5 ft 10 " female with a large…

Yoga, I am not built for it and find sitting with my feet extended under my body extremely painful. I tried it for a while, and decided mid lesson that enough was enough and just walked out of the class. Pull ups, again I am wrong the build for them (too tall, broad and with long arms). I stick with them though, and one…
