I totally know what you are saying. My husband is wonderful and very supportive so I can't imagine being in that situation. In fact, he was on board with the exercise and healthier eating long before I was. BUT, he never made me feel bad about myself for not getting on the bandwagon. Though he wouldn't say it, I know that…

Everyone has great advice, but I think swopeswick truly summed it up the best. You have to really want it and commit yourself to making the lifestyle change. You don't have to do everything at once and go 'hardcore', but slowly make the changes and start to create a schedule that you can stick to. After a while, it all…

Congratulations on losing 25lbs!! That is definitely no small feat. You've worked hard to get here so be proud of yourself. As far as other people noticing...weight is a very sensitive issue. Perhaps, they do notice but aren't quite sure and are afraid to bring it up. Seriously, a lot of people just don't want to 'go…

Wow, look out, Imelda!! I love shoes too. It takes a lot of effort for me not to look at shoes when I'm out shopping. I'm that way about handbags as well. If I had a load of cash to go on a shopping spree, those are the two things I would go wild with. Have fun working it with all your new shoes!!!

Bump!! People need to read this!

Hi, I've been responding to this same question all day. LOL. Polar HRMs appear to be the most popular and widely recommended by other MFP users. The Polar F6 and FT7 often get mentioned on the threads. I have the Polar FT7 and I love it. It is waterproof (so you can swim with it), stores workout data, and you can change…

Hi, if anyone needs extra support, feel free to add me as a friend. I am on here everyday logging in my own progress as well as cheering on all my MFP friends. Kath

MFP gives you a calorie goal that is what you are supposed to eat daily to lose weight. It already creates a calorie deficit for you so you should stay close to that number. So, in other words, you should be able to lose weight if you stick to your daily goal regardless of exercise. Though, of course, adding exercise is…

This happened to me after 2 pregnancies. It's not really noticeable to other people which is good. I like the other ladies' idea about buying the larger size and putting an insert in the smaller cup. I also often use a minimizer bra like tn2010 does. Hope you find something that works for you!

Welcome! You will love it here -the site is very helpful and the community is very supportive. Just try to log in everyday, account for everything that you consume, and drink lots of water to begin with. If you exercise, also try to eat some or most of your exercise calories because MFP already creates a calorie deficit…

I was hesitant to spend money on a HRM, but I'm very happy that I made the decision to do so. It really helps improve your training and know more accurately where you're at with calories. I have the Polar FT7 which I love and is very easy to use. It is waterproof, stores your workout info, and you don't have to send it…

Girl, you look fabulous and need to ignore these lame, immature boys. I don't think this is really about you as much as it is about razzing their friend in any way possible. Don't let them feed into any insecurities that you have and make you depressed. A lot of women would kill to look like you -wear it proud!

The MBTs, Sketcher Shape-ups, New Balance Easy Tones, etc are really meant for just walking. They are supposed to be good for toning, good posture, and lower back issues. The type of shoes you get really depend on what activities you plan on doing with them. I have Nike Zoom Quick Sister + shoes that I love though they are…

I have the Polar FT7 and it's pretty similar to the Polar F6. However, you don't have to send it away to get the battery changed and you can use it while swimming. Amazon has some pretty decent prices for either of them. I have the Polar FT7 and I got mine from REI for $93 during a membership sale. I mostly see them for…

I had spent most of my life in the healthy range of the BMI, then in my late twenties/early thirties slowly moved up the overweight ladder. When I went for my yearly MD appt. in March, I found out that I had made it to the obese range. Needless to say, I left the doctor's office feeling utterly depressed. I never weighed…

Hi Helen, Yeah, I don't know if I could do this whole thing without MFP! It has really helped me change my lifestyle and my friends on here are so great. I totally know what you mean about the calorie tracking. I love MFP because it totally takes all the work out of it -I could never really see myself writing down/figuring…

Hi, Aiming for 1 to 1.5 lbs a week is realistic and healthy if you have 30lbs to shed. So, you are looking at losing 4 to 6lbs a month which is reasonable. You will see how it goes week to week as you stick to your calorie limits and if you add exercise as well. Don't be discouraged if the lbs. don't come off right away.…

As far as mini goals go, I mostly do see mani/pedi, haircut/dye trip to the salon, shopping for new clothes, and tattoos as rewards. I really haven't seen anything too different out there. How about a girl's night out w/overnight stay in a hotel? As a mother, I know how hard it is to get out with friends and just have time…

Welcome! I love this site and all my MFP friends...and so will you! You have a whole year before the wedding so you can definitely meet your goal within that time. Just try to log in everyday and all that you eat. Understanding that this is a lifestyle change is what is going to help you lose weight as well as keep it off…

Spob, well said. I completely agree with you. However, I do not believe the OP and other people mean to be judgmental per se....let's just say it's an 'observation' put into the Chit-chat forum. We are all in a learning process here on MFP and hopefully your nice post will contribute to that.

LOL. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to post something about that. Thank you.

You look fabulous and worked hard to get there -don't let anyone take that from you! Ignore his lame comments. He needs to grow up.

I seriously love ice cream too. I would also choose it over chocolate and cake...or any other sweet. My favorite is cookies and cream and then pistachio. Hello Oreo McFlurry!! Anyway, I used to just eat it whenever I wanted to and whatever portion I felt like. Since I started my lifestyle change in April I've had ice cream…

Very awesome-congratulations!! Keep up the good work!!

Hi Sherry! Always love new friends that I can support and be supported by! I'll add to you on! Kathy

20lbs is great!! Congrats-keep it up!!

Hi, my husband subscribes to Runner's magazine and I remember reading that our feet swell after long periods of running or walking so people should buy shoes that are a half size bigger. And, thicker, more cushioned socks will probably help as well. Good luck!
