  • Ha! I just realized I still don't have one. One of these days I'll change that!
  • Have had it for years. Just found out that my doc didn't bother to tell me that my TSH was out of range again (have been on 88mcg Levothyroxine for years). At my suggestion she upped me to 100mcg. Going to endo. in March. It's important to follow up with specialists because sometimes GP's don't understand the importance of…
  • Thank you all so very much! I shed a boo-hoo tear or two, then I rode the stationary bike for just 15 minutes and those endorphins are already working. I love to swim and I know it would be a great choice for me due to arthritis but I'm just too embarrassed by the way I look to go to the YMCA right now. I know that's silly…
  • Your story and photos are the perfect pick-me-up today! I have a lot to lose (but even more to gain!) and have lost 9 lbs. Was struggling this past week but not willing to give up. I love your attitude and know that you will continue to be successful in all you do. Thanks for sharing!
  • I have trouble 'quoting' a previous poster, so this is in response to the girl who's sister and nephew acted embarrassed of her outside her nephew's school. I am so sorry! What a terrible thing for your sister to do. Even more disgusting is that she is apparently raising her son to be as cold, cruel, and callous as she is.…
  • What are some strength training exercises that don't involve using a machine/joining a gym? Something I can do at home. Thanks!
  • Oh my gosh! I didn't see this before I posted my own "Breaking a chair at a fancy wedding" story. See? We really are not alone in these experiences! We should just be wedding crashers together... As for the fool next to you on the plane, you should have pulled out your phone and texted someone about being stuck next to a…
  • Posted this back when I first joined MFP but here goes: Nephew's wedding. Fancy place, 'delicate' chairs. My son comes up and pulls on the seat, chair breaks, we tumble to floor. I actually broke a chair! Some people looked, and some pretended they didn't see. My brother was so upset and trying to blame the chairs. We all…
  • I couldn't believe how your post mirrored my own if I had been completely honest a couple months ago. Thank you for your honesty! I am sending you a hug. Please don't give up, and please don't beat yourself up. I know it's so hard but believe me, to win at this you have to be your own best friend. Think of things you…
  • I didn't mean that they shouldn't change in front of me. I realize that nudity is the norm for locker rooms, and I am in the minority regarding my own personal modesty. I meant that they shouldn't post nasty comments just because someone feels differently from them. Wow. You kind of proved my point.
  • While I think "traumatized" is a bit much, I totally understand being uncomfortable. It's not that I am a prude, or that I am disgusted by someone else's body, it's just that I am conservative that way. Fortunately my husband is even pretty modest for a man as well! He's not the type to walk around naked, and neither am I.…
  • I've been off the MFP wagon for a long while and just decided to start tracking again today. I was meant to see your story & photos. Because I have a lot to lose, I tend to get discouraged but seeing how well you have done is a great reminder to just do it! I've seen 30 day shred mentioned here but not sure what it is - I…
  • LOVED "stopping to enjoy the scenery while catching breath"! I often tell my very in-shape husband that he is rushing by everything, when the truth is, I just can't keep up with him. **I've strategically timed getting up from chair/couch until people leave the room so they won't see me struggle and hear me grunt. **There…
  • SO funny! And so true...
  • Trust me, don't give up on the show! If you hang in there, the show becomes more about motivation than depression. That said, I made it thru the first hour last night then fast-forwarded (had it on DVR) thru most of the next hour. It truly was emotionally draining. As the weeks pass and you watch the contestants during…
  • What is the couch to 5K?
  • Been a couple weeks since I checked in. I lost 1.4lbs the first week of my new attitude. Gained back exactly 1.4lbs the second week and you know what? This time I didn't freak out and go overboard. I said to myself, 'well, okay, relax, get off the scale, keep on doing your best and be patient!'. I will weigh on Tuesday and…
  • You're doing great. Slower is definitely better, though it's hard to accept that sometimes. I think you were wise to start the whole thing slow and get used to the changes gradually. It's so much easier to stay on track that way. Good job!
  • Way to go!!!! You've inspired me to go work out too. You are working so hard --- congratulations! Wow....
  • Just checking in with all the awesome fellow slow-losers! Is everybody keeping the faith??? Remember, not continuing to gain is still great. Losing is even better, but don't get caught up in the numbers. Exercise, eat right, feel good about yourself! People who lose the weight faster are working hard and they deserve their…
  • Thanks Amanda! At least your scale has a sense of humor....mine just whines.
  • Welcome! This is a terrific site, filled with lots of good advice and support. Best of luck on your journey!
  • I have been AWOL from MFP for a few weeks. Started so motivated and fell off the wagon, rolled down a hill and landed in a pile of mud....pie. But, I am back. This time more cautious though. I have to be prepared for the set-backs, the "human moments". Your post about the amusement park is the first one I'm replying to…
  • Do some squats, quick!!!! Can you get some skim milk? It will fill you up and be good for you at the same time. Fight the urge. Make a list of 5 people you admire, and why. Then add yourself to the list! You can do this.
  • MFP calculates how many calories you burn in exercise, then basically gives them back. You can keep to your regular calorie limit and ignore the "extra" calories, that way you are really benefitting from your exercise. (Or use them if you really want.) I think if someone doesn't have that much to lose, it is nice to know…
  • Boy, I never even knew stores existed like that! I will have to try this because my feet have been killing me non-stop. Thanks!
