When I went to the doctor Monday, it was the first time I didn't gain any weight :) Haha...I'm up 14lbs according to their scales, and 18 at home (I count my gain from the day I got my BFP, whereas the doctor counts it from my first appt at 7 weeks). I'm 17 weeks, by the way!

grassette - my preference is a silicone cap, as it doesn't pull out my hair like latex caps do. I don't personally think lycra caps do any good in the keep your hair protected from the chlorine department (although they do keep the hair out of your face and are MUCH more comfortable). since I've never swam without a cap,…

both are crazy impressive - Bolt has dominated the sprints in two Olympics now, but he doesn't compete in anything longer than a 200 (to my knowledge). Phelps wasn't 100% spot on this Olympics, but he has been at the top of his sport in 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM, 400 IM, and 200 free for years. He probably wouldn't medal in…

My counselor brought up an interesting point...are those who were actively losing weight prior to pregnancy more likely to gain quickly/more weight during pregnancy? Not sure if there really is an answer, but it seems as though many of us here are struggling to keep the weight gain under control, despite the fact we are…

My calories are set for 2500 and I am 16 weeks...have been eating more, though, bc I've been so hungry!

a co-worker with 3 kids and a 4th on the way said he would suggest getting a forehead scanning thermometer for when the baby is sick and asleep, so you don't have to wake him/her up! also, make sure the car seat is adjustable, bc some that aren't have the baby sitting up so straight their head hangs down! also, the…

honesty is awesome, though!! I haven't been logging much, but obviously I'm going over calories if I continue to gain so quickly. You are a step ahead of me and have admitted that you need to get serious - now I guess I need to admit that too :) But I'm sorry to hear about your herniated disc - that must be really painful

Update - 16 weeks and 17 pounds. Trying not to flip out about it - I'm doing the best I can, continuing to work out, and my body is going to do what it wants. I can't help but get really bummed (jealous?) when I hear of others who have gained so little at this point - but we aren't all the same, and comparing doesn't do…

These discussions typically get pretty heated, so I think it's great everyone here is able to share their opinion :) We will fully vaccinate our baby, as I would never forgive myself if my child got really sick from something which may have been preventable. We are a fully vaccinated family, including pets :)

I did both, but for a different reason :) Ours was so my husband could transfer from DC to TN with me - so, we had a ceremony with my parents and a pastor (and the dogs) outside, and then 8 months later had our traditional wedding where everyone celebrated with us. I loved doing both! We have 2 anniversaries now, although…

Hey! I'm 15 weeks pregnant with my first - congrats on your little ones! We have a great group here called "Fit, Fabulous, and Pregnant" and we'd love for you to join!

You've gotten some great suggestions already so I won't repeat them - but I will say, you are a great mom for being concerned and she's lucky to have you. With that said, she's at an age where self-esteem building is critical and eating disorders easily start here - continue to lead through example, teach her about…

You are in a tough situation, but I think you should go with your gut - if it were me, I think I would take the 10 weeks and if my employer decided to fire me, I would fight back through FMLA. I've been saving sick leave and vacation for years, so I will have just enough to take 12 weeks off. We don't have disability or…

yum!!!!! thanks for sharing :)

I'm 15 weeks and up 13lbs as of this morning - I actually gained most of it fairly quickly (that's what happens when carbs are all you can stomach, haha). Now that fruits/veggies are back in my life, I'm doing a million times better!

I did insanity while TTC, but stopped once I got pregnant. I still do Zumba and other workouts, but just go with my gut. It's all up to you and how you feel and your doctors advice!
-
I stopped doing Insanity when I found out I was pregnant - I just do zumba now and modify so I don't jump or spin. I think it's important to be active, but cautiously active - that's how my doctor put it. You can call and ask your doctor what they think, but I would imagine running is still fine so long as you were doing…

Hey everyone! I'm crossing over into the 2nd trimester, so I wanted to say hi :) This is our first baby and we are really excited - we're not finding out the gender, which is driving our families NUTS! Re: the # of ultrasounds - I had one at 7 weeks, 10 weeks, and then 12 weeks (NT screenings). My office gives a "free"…

congrats!!! what a wonderful story!! if you haven't already, you should join us over at fit, fabulous, and pregnant :) most of us are eating at maintanence in the first trimester, then +300 calories per day in the 2nd and 3rd. but, it's up to you and your doctor!! I'm 5'6, 210, and eat at least 2,500 :)

What helps keep me motivated is that I know exercising will make labor easier - and I'm all about making it easier! I have cut way back, but I go to zumba 3 days a week and try to fit in a pregnancy dvd at lunch at work when I can. It's just a habit - I don't really give myself the option of going to zumba - I just go!…
-
I would set MFP to maintenance for the first trimester, and then change it to gain 1/2 a pound a week in the second and third. Congratulations!
-
I've been wearing mine - not to say that means you should, but I haven't had any issues!
-
Rosered - I completely agree!!! They wanted to schedule me for 8 weeks and I was going to be out of town, so they bumped it up to 7 weeks luckily. I would have never made it to 9, haha. Glad you get to go soon, though :) It will all be worth it when you get to see your little one!
-
I had my first appointment at 7 weeks and I have no clue what my HcG levels were - I'm assuming they were normal bc I didn't hear anything :) I think each doctor is different on when they bring you in the first time - some women don't have their first appt until 11 weeks even!
-
I would go with moderate - that's 2500 meters in an hour, which is around 2:30 per 100, right? I swim a different type of workout - I do individual sets where I'm descending, sprinting, kicking, etc...so, a portion of my workout is moderate, and a portion is vigorous when I'm sprinting and getting my HR way up. It's not…

Hey everyone!! I'm in week 12 now and have my NT screenings on Friday - as long as everything looks good, we are going to make the announcement afterwards! I'm so excited I could bust - I just don't want it to be a secret anymore :) Glad many of you have had good news recently and welcome to the newest mommies-to-be!
-
Lessons are a great idea - I'm glad you signed up and hope they help! Keep us updated on how you're doing!
-
what fits you now :) you can always alter to make it smaller, but making it bigger is MUCH harder!! so excited for you btw :)

I did some research on the brand I used to use, and it said it was not safe for pregnant women. I think some brands may be okay though - you may want to do some independent research and take it to your OBGYN during your next appointment and ask him/her, just to make sure!

I LOVE criminal minds, but it's not "nighttime approved" in our house.
