  • As long as the rest of her diet includes a variety of foods, she doesn't technically need a replacement for breastmilk if she doesn't like any other kind of milk. With that said, what temperature is the milk? My son won't take anything (even water) cold because he's used to warm breastmilk, but if the water/whole milk is…
  • Join the group "Fit, Fabulous, and Pregnant" :) There are wonderful ladies there!
  • Thanks so much for the advice!! I've been working on it this week and twice have just pumped once at work and been okay. One day I had to go pump for a few minutes around 3:00 because I was hurting a little. Camden doesn't drink much more than I'm pumping in that one session (I'm pumping 6 and he drinks 8) so I'm just…
  • that's not how it worked for me, but everyone is different. I had to end up nursing and pumping more and take a supplement to get my supply back where it was before calories killed it :(
  • When I don't have "time" to make breakfast, I eat greek yogurt with 2 Tbsp of crunchy peanut butter mixed in and some fruit. I also like kind bars (specifically the dark chocolate and sea salt) and quest bars (chocolate peanut butter and peanut butter supreme are my favorites). I wouldn't replace lunch or dinner with a bar…
  • It isn't selfish if it means you can give your husband and babies the best version of their mama! We can't nurse them forever, and you've already given your baby girl exactly what she needed for her first year. Anything after that, in my opinion, is just a bonus! You spent 9 months growing her, and then the last nearly 365…
  • Thank you for sharing - you look awesome!
  • I was diagnosed with IC in August 2012. I cut out all acidic foods - most fruits, all carbonated beverages, many types of candy, juices, coffee, etc. After a few months of no symptoms, I gradually added things back in. You will never catch me drinking a glass of lemonade, but I'm able to eat salsa, or one clementine on…
  • Dark chocolate and sea salt kind bars are in my purse right now...200 calories, 15g fat, 16g carbs, 7g fiber, 5g sugar, and 6g protein. They are essentially bars made of nuts with some added nuts and spices. They're DELICIOUS! Edited to add: they aren't protein bars so they follow the rules :)
  • I would love an invite Lynette!!! Please :) Accountability partners are great!
  • If it's legitimate hunger, you SHOULD eat! In my opinion, a nursing mama should never get too hungry. If your calories are high enough and you're eating quality foods, you should be good to go :)
  • check out the group post-partum pack if you haven't already...there are lots of mamas in the same boat as us there :)
  • stick them in the microwave for 12 seconds...then add some crunchy almond butter (or even some nutella if nobody is looking). I wont say they're delicious, but that sure makes them a lot better!
  • What does your daily schedule entail? It's much easier for me to work out when it's scheduled...so, either first thing in the morning or on my lunch break at work are great times. If I wait until after work or at night, I can always find something else I "need" to do.
  • As with all things, different peds will have different opinions. We've had 2 peds at the same practice, and the first insisted on the vit D drops for my son, even though I take 5,000 units myself every day. Our current ped said it's not necessary to give them, so we don't anymore.
  • check out the group on MFP "post partum pack" :) you'll find lots of great women in the same boat!
  • I agree with what's already been said! My son is 10 months and it's tough to make the time (and I breastfeed, so I can't imagine how hard it is for you to pump, then bottle feed, then wash pump parts and bottles!). What I've been doing is trying to sneak some squats/lunges in at random times throughout the day...i.e. when…
  • Breastfeeding is not only good for baby, but it lowers mom's risk of many diseases for each additional month she nurses. This may be part of why the UK is considering benefits for moms who nurse - they may end up paying for less treatment for baby AND mom later as a result.
  • I speak from experience when I say start high and watch your milk supply and cut a little at a time to see what happens. I made the mistake of starting low (which for me was 2500 calories) and my milk supply tanked and never fully recovered. So, I would do the 1590 + 500 for nursing = 2090 at a MINIMUM and give it a few…
  • Our son (9 months) got his last Friday. To be honest, he's been sick ever since (runny nose/coughing), which could be a coincidence. However, I'll take a snotty nose any day over my baby having the flu...
  • Try getting in a warm shower and lean over and try to massage downward so gravity helps with the clogs. You can also use socks filled with rice (warm in microwave) and then dangle feed your baby while massaging towards the nipple. It's really important to get the clogs out so the infection can clear.
  • You crack me up!! But SO true!
  • I was really sick when I had mastitis - fever of 103 for a few days, so there's no way I could have worked out during that time. Are you feeling normal yet, or just better? Did your doctor give you any advice regarding how to clear the clogged ducts while the antibiotic clears the infection? Or is everything clear now?…
  • What I found works best for me is to set my calories to maintenance and let my breastfeeding be the deficit...so, my maintenance is 2,500 and to lose 1lb/wk would be 2,000. I just leave my calories at 2,500 and don't add in anything for breastfeeding, and if I'm still hungry I eat more anyways :) Then the macros match what…
  • You and I are very similar! not with our actual weight, but our gain/loss patterns...I gained 44lbs during pregnancy and have only lost 15 of it and my son is 9 months old. I'm breastfeeding and am constantly starving, ahhh! We are hoping to try again at this time next year and I have about 60-70lbs to get to where I'd be…
  • I met my husband on our first day at work. I refused to date him for a year because I didn't want to date a co-worker, but I gave in 5.5 years ago. We moved in together and sat right next to each other at work. It has it's challenges and I don't recommend working so closely for a long period of time (we since transferred…
  • Hey mama!!! Pepper said it best...we are all different :) My best advice is to read this thread from a mama who is looking back on her first year: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1108196-if-i-could-do-it-all-over-again The most important thing is spending time with your family! Trying your best to eat healthily and…
  • Kiley - Camden is a month younger than your little guy, but we are in a similar situation. I pump while at work and nurse at home, but have 500-600oz frozen. I used to pump 4 times at work, and last month I cut to 3 times. Next month I'll cut to twice, and then when he's 11 months old I plan to pump once at work or go…
  • We went a different route and every time we went to Target, we added a $25 gift card to what we were already buying. That helped SO MUCH in the end because we didn't miss the $25 along the way, but my son is 9 months old and we still have giftcards left. Then we could use it on whatever we needed it for, as opposed to…
