I hear ya! I don't do P90x but have been running. When I started my hr was always in the 80-90's percent-wise--now I really need to push myself to get there. My first 5k I burned a little over 400 cals...now the hrm is putting my starting "fitness" level at atleast 72% or better. Sooo, frustrating especially when running a…

I think almond butter offers a bit more Vitamin E and calcium but side by side the 2 are pretty close. I like both and will switch things up with the almond butter as the taste is a little different. My husband perfers the peanut butter. All in all I think it boils down to taste. I've never had almond milk but don't like…

I list it under circuit training and wear a heart rate monitor. The monitor and MFP are usually pretty close (within 10 calories). Enjoy!

I'm sorry that in the middle of the huge adjustment you are making someone seems to be making it more difficult. I would just ignore her behavior and take the high road--easier said than done. I wouldn't go out of my way to be rude but I wouldn't go out of my way to be nice either. Be polite and professional. Perhaps she…

My sister in law makes this every year around this time and we call it crack--it is sooooo addictive! M&M's, candy corn and cashews. Basically it is much like the other posts and the whole idea of sweet/salty is a hit. Maybe use dark chocolate m&m's, some honey chex and your nut of choice...is it even possible to make this…

Good question. I usually try to listen to my body. Recently, we I did some serious fall landscape/clean up and opted to use those days as a "rest" day...although I must admit I was sore the next day. I will jog/run several days in a row but do try opt for another type of exercise once or twice a week just to switch it up.…

I've done these dvd's and I would think it would fall into the same type of category as The Shred dvd which is circuit training. I use my heart rate monitor and what MFP gives me for calories burned is pretty close. Hope this helps.

Lousy dancer here and I really enjoy Zumba. Remember you are not going to be in a room full of professional dancers. Everyone is of various fitness levels and just trying to incorporate a little fun with their exercise. My advice...just have fun. You'll soon figure out NO ONE is watching you--they are concentrating on…

Dressing in layers is helpful. I prefer cotton (maybe a thermal) and tend to top it off with a fleece of some kind. I've made some lucky finds at yard sales or a thrift store for a couple of nicer running jackets which has helped--they are SOOO pricey! I wouldn't skimp on the shoes though. I purchased a nice pair at a…

Thanks. I'll be bookmarking this link. I usually try to check a few of the entries for a particular item when I don't have a label. I'm able to get an average and will normally go with one that is a little higher to be safe. It'll be nice to have this for reference.

I have these days too. I second the protein. As you go you'll learn what fills you up and satisfies. As for right now...you've logged what you ate and are disappointed but tomorrow is a new day. I found when I started the calorie goal was such a big drop from what I was used to that I would often go over. It's about…

I enjoy mine and use it especially when I'm getting ready for a 5K since you can do distance workouts too. You don't need the shoes but if you don't have Nike + shoes you'll need a little pouch or holder for the sensor. You can google it but I bought mine on eBay for less than $5 and I've seen them on overstock.com too. To…

Any chance you could do a little exercise? Once I push through I feel great and awake!

Here is a third vote for the ice cream...it is delish! I'll add a tablespoon of peanut butter and it tastes yummy.

No, I found mine on eBay new in the packaging for under $90 with free shipping. Check out sellers with return policies. Also, some health insurance companies partner with certain companies to offer discounts. For example...Blue Cross offers a 10% discount at our local sporting goods store and they also offered a discount…

I like the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels. I get bored easy too so this seems to be a quick something I can do to switch it up. Also, our local parks and rec does exercise classes (zumba, step, etc) at a very reasonable price...I can even drop in if I don't want to commit to a whole session. Nice to break up the hum…

Good for you that you turned the negative energy into a workout. I know my "fluffy" cat doesn't want me to work out. She plops on me whenever/if ever I sit down and I literally have to crane her off me. All the while I get this look like "Just sit...relax with me...I'm supposed to bring your blood pressure…

I'm on my way to pick up our Chinese...our local restaurant has a great little steamed section. I usually order steamed veggies but will get steamed chicken or shrimp if I'm extra hungry. Our sauce comes on the side so I either skip it all together or just use a little bit. I may have half a cup of steamed rice but again…

I was nervous too but when you start you see so many others at various levels it puts you at ease. By the end of it you are paying more attention to the instructor and just having fun. There is a learning curve so don't worry about looking silly. Laugh at yourself and just keep going. It really is a fun way to exercise.…

Good for you!! Today is my hubby's birthday and I bought a small yellow cake for us to share (with our son). Our bakery will take larger sheet cakes and cut them down (basically a 2 portion size) and sell them. I was happy I opted for this rather than the whole cake which will taunt me in the worst way until it is eaten or…

Are you getting at least 1200 calories? I notice if I eat less than that I get the little message from MFP about not eating enough. If I exercise and burn 600 calories (for example) I would have 1800 calories (when added to my daily allowance of 1200) for the day. Say I eat 1350 which leaves 450 calories left. If I'm…

Mmmm...sounds good. My 4 year old would love this as much as I would...and he could make his own. I have used the Flat Out kids bread for pizza and those were yummy. The kids bread is lower in calories than the "low" regular Flat Out but still delish!

I think it depends on your own self-control. I would do a cheat day before and as the diet progressed more and more cheat days came about. Now I don't do it. Instead I try to plan it out a little more. For example if we are going to a party, outing, whatever I watch what I'm doing before, make sure to work out and then…

I always thought Sunday was the first day of a new week, however, Monday is the start of a traditional work week....hope this helps.

I think some depends on your physical stature...bone structure. I am also 5' 2" but have a medium build. My goal is between 125 and 130. If I had a smaller build (like my Mother's) I'd be more comfortable going to 120--she's always hovered around 118 and it suits her. At my thinnest I was around 125 (sometimes a little…

I do a 5 minute warm up...start walking and gradually increase the pace every minute or so until I'm about at a run. I run for about 30 minutes or more. I do a cool down in reverse of my warm up (gradually decreasing the pace) usually for 5 minutes but will go until my heart rate is near my resting rate and then do my…

I don't think the deli meats are much better sodium wise than the pre-packaged stuff. I've seen Hormel Natural (in the prepackaged aisle) which is supposed to be preservative free but not sure where they are on sodium. Ever thought about baking your own chicken or turkey breast and slicing it for a sandwich? Or, if you are…

I've seen some recipes that sneak veggies into fruit/yogurt smoothies--like spinach with no weird taste. I go in spurts with my veggies. I tend to always reach for fruit.

Just started a few days ago and was very surprised at how much I did have to push it. I thought 20 minutes...no biggie...even toyed with starting with level 2. Glad I didn't and really glad I picked up the DVD. It gets my heart rate up and is short enough to do when I have little time or as a part of a longer routine. I…

Treadmill for sure! I have an elliptical and liked it because it is low impact and quiet. The machine grossly overestimated my calorie burn by about 3x. I still use it as part of my general routine but rely on my HRM for actual calories burned. It wasn't until I started walking (and eventually running) that I noticed the…
