  • Spinach (for the vitamins) and lettuce (for the crunch)! I like both but if I had to choose one...it would probably be spinach. At home...I usually choose spinach on my sandwiches if I have any (or alfalfa sprouts!)
  • I have chocolate every morning (stirring a tsp. of straight cocoa powder in my coffee) and every night. At night I take the plain, fat-free yogurt and stir in cocoa powder (the kind without sugar used for baking) and my own sweetener. I'll top that with frozen sliced strawberries and drizzle the whole thing with sugar-free…
  • I lost the excess weight I was carrying over 5 years ago and have maintained that loss successfully. I think that part of the reason is that I did it in a healthy manner and didn't get in a big hurry. It took 19 months for me to get to my goal and I then dropped a few more pounds for a total of about 120 lbs. loss @ an…
  • I was sick and hopeless and suffering from pain in my chest (and numbness in my left arm and shoulder) on a daily basis and figured I was going to do soon. I joined a weight loss group and was bound and determined to work the program even if only 5 lbs. came off in the year. The first week 6 lbs. came off. That leader said…
  • Welcome, welcome, welcome! MFP is a great tool and I love it! I think you will too!
  • I like canned petite diced tomatoes (with herbs) cooked down a bit and used for the sauce with thinly sliced squash (yellow and zuchinni) and sliced sauteed onions and mushrooms. No cheese for this cat unless it's a bit of parmesan...but I usually skip it.
  • I'm interested in this as I was looking for a protein (whey) powder this morning. I was looking for the cheap...unsweetened...low, low calorie count but not major overload on the protein. (about 15 grams of protein or thereabouts) Any suggestions?
  • Aw Man...gotta really learn how to use that "quote" thingy!! Anyway...what you said about: "Just approach it like men do. Stop your whining and pick up heavy objects. The rest is white noise ;) Most of us are looking in the mirror enjoying our manly bicep pump and inflamed pecks." CRACKED ME UP!!! I went into a gym once…
  • oh...by the way..."You Go, Girl!" You look awesome...great job!!
  • lost over 120 lbs...my feet "lost" weight, too! I was into an 11W and now I wear a normal 10. (10 was what I wore before I gained the weight.)
  • I lost over 120 lbs. and then went on to work for a weight loss organization as a motivator~group leader. I totally "get" what you're saying. I heard "I can't because"....more times than I can count and it hurt to hear it! I've also heard, "even if I lose it...I can't keep it off". I had to de-bunk that one too as I've…
  • I don't have "cheat days" either...but I do have somewhat of a "cheat meal" about once a week or two (or three or four). I'll on purpose PLAN to not track calories for that one (and only one...not an all day affair) meal but WILL write down what I ate. Usually, I end up eating like I always do and just "splurging" on a…
  • I'm already at goal (and have been there for over 5 years now) so I weigh every morning at the same time as my "anchor" or reminder of my goals. When I was losing weight, I only weighed once a week at a meeting. My weight fluctuates within about a 7 lb. rangee and I have to remember that so I don't "freak out" when it goes…
  • I just thought of another one that happened to me... When you go back to an old church to attend a funeral with your husband and all of your old friends (that you haven't seen in a while) are whispering behind your back and looking incredulous and finally one of them pulls your husband aside and asks..."Who's she?" And he…
  • When you're terrified because you feel a lump on your side...then you realize that for the first time in about 20 something years...you're actually feeling your hip bone! When you're leaving the restroom in a rush to conduct a meeting and you freak out because you feel something skittering on your legs (You saw a lizard on…
  • That's why I'm on here. I'm a free lifetimer BUT that means that I'd have to pay for e-tools to track. This is WAY better to me as far as tracking goes and if I want to find recipes and information...I can "google" that anytime or find out information from WebMD or something like that (or ask on here!) I track my exercise…
  • Yup...I know about the fruit thingy...I can easily overdo the fruit not paying attention to serving sizes! (I'm a fruit-a-holic!) I had to "adjust" the plan for myself somewhat. I wasn't totally happy with the changes. I just didn't know HOW to be reasonable with "0" pointsplus fruit!! I'm still doing Weight Watchers but…
  • My best weight (not my skinniest weight)...the weight that was easy for me and was "normal" when I was younger was 130-ish (130-138). That's easy for me to maintain right now. I was told to consider what is easy to maintain and think back on a time when I felt good in my skin (usually 18-20-ish) and consider what that…
  • I do it, too. Ditto what other's have said about keeping arms above a certain level. When I walk long miles (more than 7 or so miles), I have to take off my wedding rings as they swell too much. During 3-day for the cure...they were QUITE swollen! It took several days for them to return to normal (3-Days...60 miles)
  • I lost all my excess weight using the Weight Watcher program and going to meetings. I later became a leader... It works...if you work it. You can check out my pictures...
  • When I first started losing weight, I was in a different cultural setting which meant I had to work out in dresses (believe it or not...Amish/Mennonite thingy). Later when I lost a significant amount of weight and left that cultural/religious setting, I started wearing long exercise pants that were loose but had some…
  • As I started out at 267 lbs:sad: ...my doctor set my goal at 150. Weight Watchers set my goal at 146 so that's not too far off (for someone who had been morbidly obese for a L-O-N-G time...) I continued with my healthy lifestyle changes and continued to lose on down (with a doctor monitoring) until I got to my low…
  • I lost over 120 lbs. When I first got to my goal weight, I had lots of loose skin. I couldn't wear short sleeve t-shirts or shorts because of it. There was even a small amount of loose skin under my chin but...I STILL LOOKED GREAT! I lost the excess weight being around 40 years of age so I was at a serious disadvantage…
  • I'm a "newby" myself on myfitnesspal...but not a newby to weight loss! This is a great tool to use for SURE! I like what another poster said...it's a lifestyle change! I made it a lifestyle change several years ago and lost over 120 lbs. and kept them off for 5 years now using tools like this one! You CAN do this!…

  • Aw...shucks...how does one go about putting the weight ticker on our posts? I thought I did it correctly but...hey...I'm kind of challenged that way today I guess!
  • Love the abs, ladyboy! Your post made me smile from one ear to the other! I feel like I've been patted on the back and "high fived" now! I kind of needed that today!
  • After being obese for over 21 years...it only took me 19 months to get to my goal weight set by my doctor. I then went on to lose another nearly 20 lbs. to get to my current weight within about 4-5 months. I've been maintaining that lower weight (with a fluctuation of about 7 lbs.) for 5 years last February. I still want…
