Usually, all you do is coat the pan with oil (use paper towel and a dab of veggie or olive oil) and then wipe it off and store it. You don't heat it up. I had a non-stick IKEA wok one time where you did this. And, to clean it, you would just rinse it out with water and wipe dry. (You were never supposed to use any dish…

Great stuff! The pancakes are always best using a cast iron pan! With Teflon, you have to be careful about chipping and overheating the pan (health concerns). I am wary of the cheaper pans, because they tend to chip easily. So, I would probably pass up on the "As Seen on TV" specials.

I use a lot of paprika.

I would like to follow your progress -- not sure I can do 30DS though. It flared up my back something awful last time. I will take a look at the yoga though. Maybe I can try that along with you. I really like how you are breaking this down so far...sounds smart. Edit: You can find the app here, too:…

When I am stressed out, these things help to keep my mood stable: 1. Make sure you eat your meals the same time every day. Avoid high carb and processed foods as much as possible. 2. Keep wakeup and bedtimes consistent. 3. Eat a healthy snack when your energy seems to dip. 4. Stay hydrated. Keep away from the caffeine. 5.…

I just turned 41 and can relate to the marriage and kids thing. I gave myself my 40th year to cry it all out. It's tough. But, that does not mean that a man won't love you or marry you because you are overweight. What counts is how you see yourself. If you want to friend me, feel free. :-)

Make sure you eat more protein than carbs. (That helped me get off my plateu. I was stuck for a long time.) Make sure you meet your daily protein needs.

It sounds like PTSD. He has been through so much stress that he is probably overloaded. Maybe now is not the time to be living together, but encouraging him to seek help and supporting him in doing so. See if you can seek out other girlfriends and wives who are going through the same thing, so you have support, too. But,…

Jovan would probably date an outdoorsy type and/or an organic food enthusiast. Maybe a guy who grows his own veggies? ;-)

Geo Prizm or Toyota Corolla -- practically the same car. I think Toyota does make a Caravan type of car that would be good for a bunch of kids. I'm iffy about Hondas or Hyundais, but friends like 'em. Research what people say about their used cars. Check out the Consumer Reports lists to see what used cars they recommend.

I used the Christian Indie Tracks from: http://www.buriedtalentsband.com/C25K/ The music helps me to relax while motivating me to keep running. I tried another one (Podrunner?), but it set my teeth on edge.

There are a lot of risks associated with the flu shot. And, what about mercury? I would not do it.

More than likely, you will slow your metabolism. Try zigzagging your calories instead.

A glass of milk, preferably warmed.

I can relate to this! I learned to make great pie! I had one too many in a short space of time. Let's just say "plus 10." :-) I still cook but have to negotiate around that part of the cookbook.

It sounds like you might be friends who are dating. Friendship is a great basis for marriage, but in dating, if you are not becoming more connected as you find out about each other, that is a sign to look deeper as to why that is the case. In the early stages of a relationship, I don't think you need that hormonal…

I toss it into a mixed salad, eat it atop some lettuce, or my fave, with alfalfa sprouts. You can mix it with eggs and scramble them.

I have found a lot of different points of view on MFP. While I do not agree with all of them, I appreciate that there are people reaching out to me. Please don't let the few bullies get in the way of your success.

^^ This helps a lot.

I usually have my hand on some chocolate cake. ;-) The good thing is that, even if I do have some cake, I am better at limiting my servings now than I used to, because I remember that I've already lost quite a bit.

I had a cheesy strap on my HRM. It fell off and got lost. I scoured the neighborhood for the old one, bought a new one and eventually found the old one balled up in a corner. <sigh> I suppose it can be the spare now! LOL.

I knew a woman who was a recovering alcoholic. One day, she had aspirin poisoning, but her folks mistook it as her falling off the wagon and getting drunk again. They realized too late that she wasn't drunk after all. I believe she died in the ER. I think she took the aspirin for some discomfort with flu, probably aches &…

Do like me and order a Shirley Temple! (It's grenadine (aka cherry-flavored sugar syrup) and soda.) The last bartender got a kick out of it. I remember getting it the first time as a kids' drink at Red Lobster.

I usually don't drink. If I do, it probably amounts to a bottle of wine per year. I love wine, but I see no purpose in getting drunk or drinking it every day "just because." I think drunk people making a---s of themselves when I was in college was enough to make me sober for life.

Ahem, the last time I checked with folks who believed a woman should do the cooking, many men helped out, ESPECIALLY if you put a BBQ in front of them. Some women would prefer their kids eat earlier than they do (especially if school lunch is before noon and dinner not until 7PM). I don't think it is shameful to ask her…

This is tongue-in-cheek: Leave him a loving note, a jar of spaghetti, a jar of sauce, and a pot. Don't forget to post the link to eHow in your PS. http://www.ehow.com/way_5147130_making-spaghetti.html If he can accomplish that, do the same with another dish you like. And, so on. Seriously, if he doesn't know how to cook,…

Applesauce is really easy to make. You can google for a recipe that is to your liking. All it really is is cored and peeled apples that are cooked in a touch of water until they become soft. Then, they are mashed. Some recipes use a sweetener and/or spice of some sort. I even saw one that used cider instead of water. If…

I wonder about this myself. I think I would have taught for a few years and then gone onto something else. I do enjoy it, but the test prep mentality that is sweeping the nation makes me uneasy. Kids want to know if they "have to know it for the test." I fear that some are losing the desire to learn for the sake of…
