  • I personally think you're doing great with lowering the carb intake and upping the veggies and fruits (they are the best carbs in the world  ). If you change your ratio settings as in the comment above, you should be all good! :flowerforyou: Also, overdoing on protein means having lots and lots of it. If you have…
  • Great response. I agree with your opinion more than 100% and I was going to say the same things! Did you study traditional nutrition? Usually they teach accordingly to the US food pyramid, which tells to base the meals around carbs, and that is a big no no for anyone. So, I started learning about nutrition in my own ways…
  • My very favorite pancake, for which I made up the recipe, is flour free. It's made from an egg, one ripe mashed banana, some ground flax seed, and sweet spices that you like or honey. Each time I make this, I experiment with new combinations, because I love healthy cooking so much! This is so yummmmmmy!
  • I don't do Wii, but I just want to say that in your place, I'd stick to the fact of exercising itself. I know 180 calories is maybe not something huge, but if you don't focus on calories that much and put more emphasis on just moving and burning calories each day, that will be a big progress! :flowerforyou: Also, this way…
  • A good question. And here is the answer that I've got right now. I searched the web too, and it seems there is no good calorie-burning calculator for this particular program. And the info from different people doing P90X is so all over the place with outrageously different calories burned that it's hard to get an…
  • Thank you for thank you. If I can be of any help, let me know!
  • Your comment made me laugh a lot. So, thank you for that and for the sweet words! :flowerforyou: Yes, I do love to cook (often experimentally) and to take the pictures of foods. I must say, I love photography in general! I am a visual person, so decorating and setting up the table is one of my favorite things. I…
  • I see you've got some good advice here. I am trying to eat clean and to cook meals myself whenever I can. I love salads with fish, chicken, other proteins (just make sure you don't add any fatty store-bought dressings; the best one is fresh lemon juice with some olive oil and spices); I also like cooked/steamed…
  • I must say that the healthiest and the best-tasting almond milk ever was the one I made myself. If you want to make some: --soak two cups of raw almonds overnight --then add them to the blender with about 4 cups of water (more or less, upon your choice) --add some raw honey (optional, for desired sweetness level)…
  • Oh, I love love love avocado, and it's worth every single calorie to me! But ONLY when the avocado is just right-- is perfectly ripe, not the watery kind, and eaten slowly, enjoying each and every bite! Right now I didn't have an avocado for a few months, and it's not easy knowing how much I love this…
  • These were great!!! I like tweaking the recipes, so I used 2 small bananas, sunflower seeds, cinnamon, nutmeg... hmmm...oh, and a grated apple! And I calculated for 8 servings. I topped some of them with melted chocolate for dessert variation. Yummy. And thank you! :flowerforyou:
  • This is wonderful!!! Super wonderful! :flowerforyou:
  • Oh wow! Your body is definitely taking your uneaten calories personally.  In other words, I do think you're not eating enough. This is a problem for many people-- they exercise too much for their caloric intake or are not eating enough for their exercise. It is a fine line between eating enough calories and…
  • True about yogurt only if it's PLAIN. Most yogurts have so much crap in them that instead of being beneficial they become harmful to our bodies. Also, go easy on dried fruit. Especially when losing weight! I'd say, the only sugars that are not worth counting are from FRESH veggies and fruits, PLAIN yogurt and milk.

  • Oh, that's easy. As many mentioned above, just get the baked or grilled meat/fish and steamed vegetables or salad (no dressing, or dressing on the side) and you'll be fine! Make sure you ask also not to add any butter to the steamed veggies and no added fats to the meat. Skip the breads, pastas and desserts. If you…
  • Thanks much. Smile is often on my face in reality, so I like to show it in virtual space too.
  • Thanks for the recipe! I love that it has no added sugars, only the sugar from fruit. I will use the sunflower seeds instead of walnuts and will grate an apple for the applesauce part. Nuts are a good addition since they add a portion of healthy fats and some protein too. Without nuts, it's a bit too much carbs.
  • Good for you. Actually, I'd say, this is great that you had chocolate, and the only part that is not so good is that you feel bad about it! Now, this may sound like I am being sarcastic, and mind you, I am not. I have a piece (or two, or three) of chocolate on any day I want. If I do, I adjust my next…
  • Great advice in the comments above. I'd also want to add that once you cheat or eat over your calories on any meal (lunch, dinner, snacks, etc.), don't tell yourself you'll get back on track tomorrow or Monday! Get back to clean eating and counting your calories the very same day for the next meal (when you're hungry) and…
  • Definitely, spread your meals/calories throughout the day. It helps a lot. And make sure the meals are balanced (carbs+protein). I eat 4 times a day, and my meals range between 300 and 400 calories. It's actually amazing how much food that makes once you start paying attention to the calories and MAKE IT A GOAL to squeeze…
  • Nice! I'm glad you've discovered this. It's actually the best way to burn the calories-- to do something you love and look forward to. Music is a huge part of my life too and I love dancing. :flowerforyou:
  • I guess I'm a lucky one-- I just naturally like vegetables and fruit, and other ingredients that come from our Mother Earth. But what I needed to learn is (1) how to cook healthier (I'm coming from Eastern Europe, where meals are tasty, but very very dense and fatty); (2) how to control the portions; (3) how to find a…
  • Good ideas on food, I was gonna mention the same. Too many carbs are really making me sleepy rather than energetic throughout the day! Protein is a good choice for snacks, combined with fruit and veggies (for a healthy carb).
  • Bravo! :flowerforyou: Thanks for the inspiration!
  • I love this idea! I'm so in!!  It's good to break the thought cycle that on the weekend we can eat whatever we like and forget about our health. I'll definitely watch my foods just like I do on any other "good" day. Thanks for the idea! I'll try to remember it each Saturday.
  • Congrats! Keep it up!
  • Congratulations! What a big deal it is to be on a right path of regaining the best health! :flowerforyou:
  • Yep, body is going through detoxing once we make the healthy changes in our eating. Especially if we were eating really bad foods for a long time. I've happened to had some withdrawals like that too. I suggest either waiting if possible and drinking lots of water like you did, or having a piece of a real dark chocolate…
  • Exactly! I was gonna say-- have real meals! Don't worry about the dishes! I believe that cereal and milk is one of the worst breakfasts ever!!! Too many carbs and not enough protein, which makes you want to snack all day long. I noticed this on myself- I'd get hungry in an hour if I had cereal. Have a warm oat or…
  • Excellent excellent info here!!! clap clap
