I need to stay out of threads about eating 1200 calories but I'm replying anyway. If you figure out your BMR and TDEE and eat at a REASONABLE deficit, you will retain more muscle as you lose weight. More muscle means you can eat more calories. And if you eat 1200 calories or less and work out 60 minutes a day you will slow…

Do you measure/weigh everything you eat? If you are truly netting 1200-1400 per day and not losing weight (which has happened to me as well, I actually ended up gaining everything I lost eating about the same amount) I think you should look at increasing your calories. I would suggest figuring out your BMR and not netting…

Oooohhhh...sounds delish!! Never thought of this ;)

Fabulous!

What mokey41 said. You should eat back at least half your exercise calories. MFP included a deficit when they set you at 1660.

Just awesome!

Calculate at moderate activity and try that for 4 weeks and see how it works. Adjust from there. But based on working out 5 days a week, with 2 days being spin and 3 days of weight lifting, I think moderate is a better option for you.

If you want something different than walking and like to dance I recommend this as well. Shaun T is fun and he's very motivating. I would try that before something like Insanity.

I agree with what others have said about bad experiences with doctors when you are overweight. I lost 50 pounds very quickly and then stalled. I was starving all the time and felt I had "broken my metabolism" because no matter what I ate I was gaining weight. I went to doctors who didn't take me seriously - one doctor I…

Add full fat items like peanut or almond butter, nuts, avocado, olive oil, and cheese. This will increase your calories with a small amount.

What Lorina said. I would log in exercise when I was planning on hitting the gym - that way I knew how many calories I had available for the whole day. So if I ate more at lunch I would plan a smaller dinner or vice versa.

Wrong. You do not need to exercise to lose weight. You do need to adjust your calorie goals as you lose weight. My TDEE without exercise is about 2,000 calories and as long as I eat less than that (not 500 calories a day) I lose weight. I exercise so I can eat MORE if I want to.

This. And agree with others about you being in a healthy weight range. Maybe you want to work on your body comp more than weight? and like the other poster said, that is a different game plan altogether.

For some reason, women have been programmed to believe we have to eat as little as possible to lose weight. You want to be able to eat, maintain your muscle, and lose weight while keeping your metabolism running high. TDEE - 20% seems to work for a lot of people on this site. If you are concerned how much you are actually…

This - and this guy knows what he's talking about having lost over 300 pounds. I didn't know about this "eat back exercise calories" when I lost 50 pounds eating 1200 calories a day and working out 12+ hours a week (an RD put me on this calorie goal knowing my workout schedule). So, needless to say I gained all the weight…

I think you are right to tell her that you just can't afford all the extras - that is life. You don't need to go into debt so she can have her "princess day". You aren't required to do that.

Not a fan of the show and I never watch it. I do know a bit about Jenny McCarthy's stance on vaccines and autism and such - and she has been doing her research and is allowed to have her opinions. This country is what is it because people push the envelope and question things. She may not be 100% accurate and she may not…

I did the same as you - lost 50 pounds pretty quick then gained it all back. I think I ruined my metabolism by undereating/over exercising - it is possible! Check out your BMR (should not eat below that) and find out your TDEE and subtract 20% from that to get your daily intake goals. if you have kids, running around, etc…

She was being sarcastic - she agrees you should be eating back most of your exercise calories.

This is the same thing that happened to me. Every week I was eating at a deficit yet I gained weight. Gained back the 50 pounds I lost. Nothing I did seemed to stop the 1 pound or so per week I would easily put back on. None of the doctors I went to could help me (or probably cared to help me). After a lot of research and…
