I had a lot of headaches and weird feelings for a long time, stomach issues (pain, gas, bloating) and I cut out gluten and feel 10X better. Hardly any headaches now unless I eat too much gluten. That being said, the doctor can't test you unless you are currently eating gluten. Otherwise, you have to go back to eating it…

This - eat at a 15% deficit - with only 27 pounds to lose you should be aiming for .5 pound loss a week, instead of 1 or 2 pounds. You should be eating more than 1200 calories.
-
IF it is temporary, then you should be OK. I wouldn't suggest it long term - or more than 2-3 weeks.

I don't have scientific proof other than my own story. I was working out 12+ hours a week and an RD put me on 1200 calorie a day diet. Some days I would eat up to 1500 calories but almost always netted less than 1,000 calories a day. I don't have specific because at the time I didn't realize what I was doing was harming my…

If you are exercising 1-3 hours per day and eating only 1100 calories, you may potentially have a negative calorie intake on some days. And even onthe days you don't have a negative calorie intake, you are are seriously undereating. So similar to an anorexic not getting their period because they aren't feeding their…

I would suggest a cross trainer if you plan to continue with Zumba. I am a kickboxing instructor and we do a lot of similar side to side movements and walking/running shoes will not have the same support you will need for Zumba. If you go to a store with people who know their stuff, they can tell you the right shoes for…

I was netting 700 or less a day at one point - although at the time I didn't realize what it was called. Anyway, lost 50 pounds pretty quickly, then as soon as I couldn't keep up the 12+ hours of exercise a week my body started to gain the weight back, even eating at a deficit. It ruined my metabolism, I lost muscle…

Wow must be awesome to be you and not have any health issues that other people have to deal with. Adn going gluten free doesn't mean you buy phrama toxins - it just means eliminating certain foods from your diet. And my sister has PCOS and I know she will tell you its a very real condition. Glad you are perfect.

I have not been tested for celiac or gluten sensitivity. However through trial and error, I have been 98% migraine free (used to get them nearly every day) and my gas/bloating/stomach pain is gone. Oh, and I have a lot more energy these days. I had to leave work early on Friday due to a migraine and had my hubby pick me up…

How did you figure out your maintenance calorie goal?
-
Did you have a slow metabolism before the WLS surgery?

This. I posted something about this earlier in a starvation mode thread. happened to me, i was drastically undereating for my activity levels, lost a ton of weight and then gained weight eating at a deficit. Metabolic halt was more like it for me.
-
Months and years of undereating can lead to issues with your metabolism, it did for me. It may not be called "starvation mode" but I gained weight eating at a deficit because my body was overworked and underfed. Eventually your body will want to eat more food, just do so when you are ready. I'm not sure a few weeks will…

I was in the same boat as you. I never allowed myself any of the "tasty" food I loved, and when I did boy did I go overboard. I have learned a couple of things: First, don't create such a large calorie deficit where you can't ever enjoy anything. Yes, I saw a registered dietician and yes she put me on 1200 calories a day.…

I went to a registered dietician - at the time I was working out 12+ hours a week. She put me on 1200 calories a day and did not recommend I eat my exercise calories. I lost 50 pounds relatively quickly. But I ruined my metabolism and gained it all back. I was eating at a deficit, exercising maybe 6 hours a week vs 12. And…

This. My hubby and I met in our late 30's (neither had been married before) and we couldn't be happier.

Muscle isn't built in the gym, it's done during recovery. Yes, you do need to take breaks. And since you are starting out, you will want them. Otherwise you can get burned out really quickly.

Agreed - too much sodium. Agreed - too much fast food. You need more whole foods - try adding a couple of fruits a day, then some veggies...fast food is full of preservatives and nothing good for you. Its OK for once in a while but everyday? If you have a hard time finding time to cook or just don't want to - they have…

How many calories are you eating if it says you have 1,000 left at the end of the day? You probably should look at eating more healthy fats or filling foods - 2% fat yogurt, peanut butter/almond butter, nuts, olive oil, full fat cheese and protein powders are good. If you eat too little it will slow down your metabolism…

Eggs used to have a bad rap - just like how everything "low fat" was good for you... if your cholesterol is fine, you can eat them. 2 eggs a day is fine.
