  • If you are following MFP guidelines, it has already included a deficit. if you create too much of a deficit it can wreak havoc on your metabolism and make it difficult to maintain. I lost 50 pounds quickly by working out like crazy and eating 1200-1400 calories a day. Created a big deficit. and then the weight all came…
  • I agree with those that say the inches is def more important than the scale. That being said, you need to make sure you are eating ENOUGH food, not just for breastfeeding but also for your organs and your body to function. I did a low cal diet, worked out a ton and ruined my metabolism because I wasn't fueling it properly.…
  • Maybe adjust your macros setting? I have mine at 40/30/30 (carbs/protein/fat)
  • If you are looking for a "tough" cardio workout, TF is great. Upbeat music and the instructor is amazing. I have no experience with Rocking Body.
  • This. I never used to eat back my exercise calories....killed my metabolism and couldn't eat anything without gaining weight. Oh yeah, lost weight really quickly and then gained it back. You have to be careful not to create too much of a deficit. You want your metabolism to keep working and burning so when you are ready to…
  • I am 11 weeks pregnant and when I saw my doc at week 8 she said really only need to eat 150-300 calories above maintenance. I haven't been tracking any food. Most days I am sick all day long and its hard to eat - other days its not too bad. I try to eat when I'm hungry and try to keep up a healthy diet. The occassional…
  • Went to a dietician years ago - told her I run 4X a week, 1 of those was a long run more than an hour. Kickboxing 2-3X a week for an hour, plus 4 hours of weight lifting. She put me on a 1200 a day calorie diet. I lost tons of weight, and gained it all back. Lucky me. Not sure where it comes from but it needs to stop. Now.
  • I went to a nutritionist once and probably the only piece of good advice I got from her that I still use is allow yourself a treat each day. The idea is to make this a realistic way you can continue to live AFTER the weight loss. So eat a little less now to lose weight but you can still eat snacks and treats.
  • This. I did this - gained it all back. I think that is why a lot of people do gain back what they lose. Oh and it KILLED my metabolism. People on there have done the same as I did - that's why they are suggesting against it. BTW, if your mom has been dieting for 50 years - has she not reached her goal weight yet? Or are…
  • I like Designer Whey - its only 100 cals per scoop, has 18 g of protein, 2 grams of fat and 6 grams of carbs. I like the chocolate varieties best.
  • This. You are netting too small amount of food and killing your metabolism. I'm smaller then you, averaging 2000 cals per day and losing weight. You need to readjust. Good luck! Been there done that with the netting too low...it's not good.
  • For a long time I was eating 1200-1500 calories a day and did not eat back exercise calories - and it did me in. My metabolism slowed down - I went to doctors telling them my metabolism was broken and I was starving all the time. I lost tons of muscle. No one could understand why or tell me what was wrong. And all the…
  • The jump start plan is just that - made to jump start your weight loss. After you initial week you should be eating more. I did what a lot of you are doing - eating 1200 calories a day and burning lots calories through exercise so netting calories way under 1,000 per day. I lost a ton of weight very fast. And then it…
  • [/quote] you would be correct my children eat way more than I do, which I'm well aware is not a good thing, but my children also don't have the medical issues I do. I was simply trying to find out what the repercussions of not eating the normal amount was. I guess I'm just confused because my calorie intake has been the…
  • This if you have been doing tons of cardio with little results for YEARS, maybe its time to trust and believe there is another way! A better way vs hours of endless time on the damn treadmill. Good luck to you!!
  • Turbo Fire is an awesome program. I also have P90X and Insanity as well and love them as well. I have never had any issues with Beachbody. just don't sign up to be a coach or select some Shakeology to be sent every month. Then they will charge you. Good luck!
  • This. I don't know why women are afraid to lift weights and build muscle. You won't look like a huge body builder. And as you get older, you will wish you had more muscle. Helps you burn more calories overall and as you get older you lose muscle thus burn less calories...
  • Body weight exercises work - push ups (on toes), lunges and squats could do a lot for you. Also, resistance bands are very inexpensive. Also, for lower body plyometrics work great - jumping lunges, squat jumps, etc. We also have a Planet Fitness in town that is $9.99 a month. Haven't been there but that is not a bad price.…
  • If the OP is having a hard time eating 1,000 calories a day, recommending a low cal option like PB2 is not going to cut it. He needs to eat real peanut butter.
  • Love the dark chocolate dreams! eat it with a spoon out of the jar.
  • I have my macros set 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat. You do get carbs in your veggies. Also, be careful eating so low. If you eat 1200 and burn 200-300 a day you are netting only 900-1000. I probably netted less when I lost a ton of weight and quickly gained it back. I was easily burning over 2500 calories a day and…
  • I had elective surgery - breast reduction - and it was the best thing I ever did. My breasts were huge, I had a lot of back and neck pain. It was so hard to work out and my neck would spasm afterwards. So yes, I knew there were potential risks to getting the surgery but my life was forever changed for the better afterward.…
  • Are you sure about that? I am under 5' tall and my BMR is 1600, making my TDEE even higher than that. It's not BMR less 500, it's TDEE. 2 very different numbers.
  • Agreed on this. I am much shorter and I eat more than 1500 calories a day and the scale has been moving. We don't need to starve ourselves, just eat 500 calories less than we burn each day for a 1 pound a week weight loss. My hubby is 5'10 and has a lot of muscle. We both had our BMR's calculated and he burns 2800 calories…
  • I was reading this thread just to see if anyone had tried it! Wondering what it actually does to food...
  • You are definitely not eating enough, even without the exercise. With doing Insanity you should be eating a TON more. The goal isn't to eat as few calories as possible, its to eat a reasonable rate to lose weight and to keep your metabolism working well. I overexercised and underate for too long and it took a very long…
  • You look awesome!!! Great work!!
