  • I got a new GearS2, but I've been using a Gear Fit and Samsung Health for a while. I know my way around the app if you need help and would be glad to add you.
  • I'm in. Everyone I know has a FitBit.
  • How far into C25K are you? It's definitely not rare for a runner, especially a new one, to get some pains in the joints. I've been running for two years, and when I increase my mileage or take a couple weeks off, my knee and achilles ache. Sometimes it's bad enough to keep me from running, sometimes it's not. The best…
  • Funny, I'm eating tuna right now without mayo for the very first time. I actually hate, HATE, hate mayo. I think it's the most disgusting thing EVER, but I always put a tiiiiiny bit in my tuna to keep it from being so dry. Today, I used Greek yogurt. I didn't use much (maybe a teaspoon or so), but in the tiny amount I…
  • Saaaaaving. I'm a sucker for a great Mexican recipe. Sounds great.
  • I quit one of my two jobs today. It was the hardest thing I have ever, ever, ever done. I cried for weeks just trying to make the decision and bawled like a baby when I walked out the door for the last time today. It was the right thing to do because I have to move on and let go of the dream of ever being a full-time…
  • I am! http://givingtherunaround.tumblr.com I started it to post one picture from every run I took in 2012, but then I realized that I run the same route most of the time, and that's boring, so now I just post random stuff, haha.
  • The loop in my neighborhood is 7/10ths of a mile, and that's what I always run. Have for 2 years. I occasionally take an alternate route that makes it about 1.5 miles, but I like the familiarity of it. I run 6, 7, 8 miles on that loop. It's kinda hilly, so sometimes I reverse halfway through and run the other way, just to…
  • I used to not be a breakfast person at ALL. I hated the thought of eating when I woke up. When I was in high school and most of college, I never ate anything until lunch and wasn't ever hungry before then. Now (at 25), I eat biiiig breakfasts. I COULD eat as soon as I get up, but for time's sake, I usually wait until I'm…
  • Just recovering from this myself. I took a couple months off from running during summer (because I preferred not to burst into flames in the Alabama heat), and when I started back, I was so excited, I ran way too far, way to fast, way too soon. It took 2 runs for me to develop achilles tendonitis. I didn't run at all for 2…
  • Yes, yes, yes, YES. I never run without Injinji or other toe socks. Fila makes some too that are vented on the top to keep your feet cool. The Injinji are on the expensive side (for socks) at about $8-$11 per pair. Got mine on Amazon for about $8. Different colors/sizes are different prices on there for some reason. The…
  • Eh, not really sure why people are saying 150 is too low for 5'9-5'10 girls.... I'm 5'11 and 140, in a size 6. I don't think anyone would say I'm too skinny. For a guy 155 might be a bit low.
  • Warrior, AL (Hah!) on October 6th
  • I'm doing the Warrior Dash in a little less than 2 months. I absolutely, positively cannot wait. I've been counting down the days since I signed up a few months ago. I know that doesn't really answer your question, but every time I see the words "Warrior Dash," I get excited and have to chime in. If it helps, I've heard…
  • Oh my Lord, Pinterest pretty much changed my life. I guess that's a bit of an overstatement, but seriously, I've found SO MANY great, healthy recipes and ideas on there that have kept me satisfied that I never would have thought of without Pinterest. Same with workouts/fitness inspiration. If I just don't feel like going…
  • @dfiumano624 Love the pic of your dragon tattoo! That's very nicely done.
  • Ummmm, no. That is dangerously terrible advice to be throwing around on a forum.
  • Woah, yum. Does it taste like pumpkin at all? I'm obsessed with anything pumpkin flavored or scented, and the first day the temperature drops below 70, I'm all about some pumpkin.
  • It really depends on where the sugar is coming from. Fruit has a lot of sugar as a general rule, as does a brownie. There's a big difference in eating one or the other. Sugar is sugar, strictly speaking, but ADDED sugar and artificial sugar are the ones to avoid. When I'm craving something sweet, I almost always go for…
  • Hahahaha! Love it. That camera flash does a perfect Arc Reactor impression. And as for you, OP -- Amazing! You look awesome.
  • Yeeeaaaaaahhhh, girl. Look at you. Amazing! I love how drastic the results are with a small weight difference (not that 8lbs isn't a great accomplishment -- I'm just saying I'm sure people would've expected it to be a lot more based on the pictures). Just goes to show how negligible the scale can be. Keep it up! :)
  • Hah, I love this! As for slimming you arms -- what the others have said so far is true. You already know you can't lose weight from just one part of your body, but lifting definitely helps tighten things up. If you already have some dumbbells (or a gym membership), then you're good to go. I love LOVE love the Fitness…
  • I use Google's converter on a daily basis. You can just type "2 tbsp =" and it will pop up a converter where you choose the units. I love it. My husband is a Google Certified Trainer and does several presentations a month on the little tricks built into Google search. That one has to be my favorite.
  • I would at least try C25K, even if it seems ridiculously easy at first. It did to me when I did it a year and a half ago, but it helped me not get over-zealous and do too much too soon. You can always skip some of the runs and move on when you feel ready. If there's one thing I've learned in the last year, being ABLE to…
  • I agree with the heat rash theory. I'm a runner, and my chest breaks out pretty badly fom sweat, much worse in the summer. I shower almost immediately after running, used astringent, switched to an acne body wash... Nothing. My husband suggested heat rash since it's around my sports bra area (though not COVERED by my…
  • My first (April 2011) was 30:02... The last one I did (my 7th 5K in May 2012) was 25:15.
  • I log as much as I can first thing in the morning. It really helps me keep from going over on any components. For example, one day I might know what I'm having for breakfast and what I'm packing to take to work for lunch. I know I'm going to have a bagel with peanut butter post-run. I'll log all that (on my phone) before I…
  • When I'm pretty sure I ruined a set of earphones because I keep the slack in the cord pushed into my sports bra... And it comes out dripping with sweat.
  • I would normally say machine, but if yours s like mine, then no. My elliptical is completely stupid about calories burned. I was on it for 25 minutes last night doing some intervals -- all out as hard as I could for at least 5 full minutes, moderate for about 10, and the other 10 were warm-up/cool down/low impact. It said…
