Beautifully said, Ed. Thank you for posting this as it was just what I needed today. :)

Hi everyone, I thought I was going to have very good results to report this week, however, not so much. I started running last week by doing something similar to the Couch 2 5k program. I've been eating a lot better and watching my portions. When I stepped on the scales this morning I was stunned. I am not sure what I am…

Just checking in to get on the new thread! I'm sending you my vibes early! Even though you are dreading it, I know you'll do awesome! I'm waiting to run tonight until a couple hours after dinner. It is way too hot right now and I know I would have issues with my athsma if I bucked up and went out there. Hope…

Congratulations on meeting your goals! :flowerforyou: I had a rough weekend, but got a great start to the week yesterday as I went running for 40 minutes then did a 20 minute cooldown on my bike. I usually just want to relax in a hot bath after I run that long, but the weather was so nice yesterday I just wanted to be…

I agree! It was very humid here today, too, but there was a nice breeze that kept me going. Started my second week of training, and am soo proud of myself, because I finally found that push inside of me that I lost when I stopped playing sports! My time didn't improve, and I had to slow down to a walk for one of my…

Not a very effective weekend for me. I ate too much and drank too much and did not enough exercise. :ohwell: This is week 2 of my training and I am looking forward to getting back on track so that I can run that 5k and keep up with my boyfriend in September. I'll be posting to let you know if I survive day 1 of…

CONGRATULATIONS, WW!!:flowerforyou: I can only imagine the feeling of achieving a goal like that! And you're right...it seems like runners are always so team-oriented and supportive of each other. I guess they realize how effective the support can be when you need that last little push to keep you going.

Happy Friday Everyone!! I am feeling great today, because for the first time in a long time I got up early and did my workout. I usually don't like working out in the morning, but today was perfect. Perfect temperature, perfect time (the roads weren't busy at all), and I felt amazing for the entire run. It was…

I get upset with myself when I eat something I really shouldn't or I overeat, but then I realize how much I would have eaten before I started watching portions and exercises, and then I don't feel so bad! I bet you didn't eat as much as you would have before, so you definitely still have that to be proud of. As long as you…

Thats great advice! Thanks! I will do that tomorrow, and see if it works out better!

HAHA!  The funny thing is is that I was thinking that same thing...even though every year I am something rediculous (ex. redneck nascar driver, or cafeteria lady) . I always make comments at Halloween about the girls in their skimpy costumes. However, I was thinking this year I could get something a…

Jennifer--I LOVE the Kraft Raspberry Vinagrette as well! I always keep a bottle in my little fridge at school. II got on the scales and saw that I lost half a pound. Not bad I guess, considering it was my first week (although I heard a lot of people lose a lot in their first week?). Then, to top off my…

Congratulations! :flowerforyou:

Hey Everyone! I forgot to put in my workout last night, so better late than never! Yesterday was not a good day--so bad, in fact, that I left work early. I am almost 100% of the time happy and almost annoyingly cheery, but yesterday was definitely an exception so my boss let me leave early. :ohwell: It was my…

Ahh, good thinking, Annaliza! I never thought about that. There is jogging on the wii fit--maybe I will resort to that if I'm not satisfied with the eliptical. Thanks for the advice!

Hi! Welcome to the site! I am kind of in the same boat as you are as I was an athlete in high school and now that I'm in my last year of college, I am realizing that it is time to get back into shape and lose the freshman 15. <--:grumble: This site has been extremely helpful and motivating for me, and I hope it can do the…

Good Morning!:flowerforyou: I just realized that I posted to this group, but never put up my goals! My starting weight for this group is 130. I am not really trying to loose a lot of weight, but I am not healthy and so I am trying to start exercising and eating right. My goal is to weigh 120 by Christmas. Week 1 July 22…

Good Morning! I was going to get up early and run this morning, but it was storming here. :grumble: The forecast looks like it is supposed to storm all day long. This may be a really silly question, but can I get an equivalent workout on an eliptical? I have no access to a treadmill and don't really want to run in a storm,…

As for the rest of things... I started my training for a 5k today. This weekend I downloaded this thing called personal running trainer to my ipod. I was skeptical at first, but after my first day I found that I really enjoy it! It works well with my Nike+ and it allows me to run my intervals without having to look to see…

You're right, everyone here IS really motivating! I could only dream of running a half marathon...You should be proud of yourself that you can run 3 miles without stopping. I can run a mile and am thrilled when can find the motivation run/walk three! Also, I have heard that after you start running consistantly that running…

Thanks Heather! I was thinking when I was reading your post how great it is for your daughter that you are exercising and eating well. My mom has been overweight since I can remember and has high blood pressure which makes her constantly tired. I try to help her by offering to take walks with her, but she has a lot of…

Congratulations!!:flowerforyou: That's great!

That dessert sounds DELICIOUS! I had never thought of logging everything in first, but that seems like it might actually be more effective. I'm not much of a planner, but I agree that planning meals would save me a lot of worry that I'm going over calories in a day. Good idea! Has it worked better for you than…

Hey guys! I'm a little late in this group, but was wondering if I could still join. I am someone who has never really enjoyed running (mostly because I have never been in good enough shape to), but have a goal of running a 5k before winter. I have just started training and have struggled, but been able to run a full mile…

I'm in too! I have some weight to lose, but my ultimate goal is to be living a healthier lifestyle by Christmas. Right now I weigh 133 and would love to shed 13 lbs to put me at 120. For breakfast I had cheerios and a bottle of water. It's all I had that I could eat in the car.

I have been getting really bad headaches, too. It says on here that I should only eat 1200 calories and I don't think it is enough! :ohwell: I have started eating a serving of almonds for a snack between meals. It seems to have helped a little bit, but I have never eaten this little in my life. Guess thats why I'm here,…

Hi! Congrats on your step to get healthy and fit! Tonight is my third try at MFP, as I finally realized why it wasn't working for me. I have not been to motivated to keep track of things, because I haven't been engaging myself in the message boards and meeting people with goals similar to mine. So, hopefully we can…

I just started yesterday when I got my dvd's in the mail. Jillian kicked my butt!
