Finished the 5K for today... I'll do the rest of the challenges when I've given my knees a chance to rest a little. I was at the Y last night doing my C25K until they closed at 10, and then I was back again when they opened this morning to do my aerobics class for the Largest Loser competition. Then I came home and walked…

Challenges for today and yesterday... done. We're almost there, guys! :)

I'm so sorry about all the stress... that is horrible for trying to keep weight off. Just to offer a little rationality/encouragement... you KNOW that you didn't eat 7,000 calories more than you were supposed to. And that's what it would take to make you gain two real pounds. So... as crappy as it is to see the scale say…

Well... I went in to the office in Michigan yesterday and I was so busy all day that I only saw the mean ladies for a very short time as I was walking by with other people, and they wouldn't have had time to say anything about my weight anyway, so I guess that was good. I wasn't able to get to my goal of 225 by yesterday…

I like that idea! I'd totally be up for that. :)

I'm not surprised at all, kiltbunny! You are a totally different person! Congratulations!!! :)
-
That would be kind of fun. I really would love for us all to stick together in the sense of motivating and encouraging each other. You guys have been so important in helping me build better habits and having such a good (well, sometimes) attitude about this. Plus now that I have gotten you all, I'm interested to see you…

Oh, man... this is SUCH a load off my mind!!! I'm really glad to hear we're all on pretty much the same page. I was afraid I would be letting the team down if I said I wanted to quit in October. I know heofon and I both are getting burnt out, too. I still want to stay MFP buddies with everyone, though, and still encourage…

Hi Skinnies... Is anybody else planning on doing the October challenge? I saw that Gary mentioned it today on his comments, and I wondered what your plans are. I'm sort of in two minds about it... the challenges are very time-consuming and I'm struggling with that part of it, since they have to be done in addition to your…

Congratulations!!!! That is such an inspiring story. Thanks for sharing! :)

Challenges done for today. After all that effort last week... only down 1.2 lbs this week. I'm kind of annoyed about that, but since there is truly nothing else I can do about it, I guess I'll just have to be happy with it. Oh, and by the way, when MFP looks at your calorie deficit and tells you how much you should weigh…

Challenges done! Tomorrow is my weigh-in day, so I'm hoping for a little joy this time... I was looking back today at what I weighed a month ago from today and it was 236.5. And then I looked at what I weighed last week... 230.6. So... maybe that doesn't quite qualify as a plateau after all. :) I think it just feels like a…

For me, definitely the fresh air is a BIG one. Doesn't even have to be walking (although that's my favorite)... just sitting outside on the steps for a few minutes a day helps. Another way--and this might seem counterintuitive, but it works--is to limit my caffeine. If I have more than one cup of caffeinated tea or coffee…

House Hunter is SOOO not worth missing your workout for!!! Seriously... get off your butt and go work up a sweat. If you really need to watch HH that badly, do some jumping jacks in front of the TV. Then when you're done, feel free to sit back and bask in the endorphins, knowing you did the right thing. Have fun!…

There is a certain amount of prejudice against chiropractors by some in the medical profession, and I think it's very unfortunate. There are some problems that only a chiropractor can fix for you... such as if your back/neck/etc... goes out of alignment. My aunt is a registered nurse and she suffers from chronic back pain…

As I understand it, they are a good source of omega-3 fats, so they're good for your heart, for lowering cholesterol, etc... Also, they taste really good and I like adding them to my oatmeal or cereal or even ground up in a protein shake. :)

Congratulations, losers! (haha... that sounds mean, but speaking as someone who gained last week, I mean that as a compliment.) Challenges for today and yesterday... done!

Check out the web site: http://www.c25k.com/ If you have a smart phone, you can get a free app (well... android is free, not sure about the others) that tells you when to run and when to walk. It's based on running in intervals to gradually (over 9 weeks) work your way up to running 5K all at once. I just started week 3…

Well, I tried the wall sits, but they really hurt my knees. (I know, I know... I sound like an old lady) I think I might just do some extra pushups and crunches instead. I want to get back to working my core again, and that seems like a good way. Hope everyone's having a great day! (And that your mom starts having a better…

That's a great outlook. Hope you don't let the message boards put you off the site... people aren't always the nicest on here. Building muscle is going to give you a whole new look (not that there's anything wrong with you now), and I think you'll be really happy you did.
-
No need to be unkind about it, people... ... but the truth is you are already very close to being underweight and another 15 lbs would put you well below your healthy BMI. Please reconsider. Maybe if you're unhappy with your body, you could work on toning or building muscle or cardiovascular fitness... there are…

I think part of your message got cut off for the pygmy challenges... either that or Gary REALLY decided to go easy on us this week.
-
Well, it's 5 miles in 1 hour (excluding the warmup and cooldown), so that's a 5mph walking pace and you can find that in the exercise database here. That's what I use. Unless you have a heart monitor, that's probably the closest estimate you can get.
-
Wow. Thanks for sharing that... what a beautiful story. :)

Hi, team... I noticed that Gary put the bear walk back on the pygmy challenges this week (boo!!!), and I really need to find a substitution for that. As soon as I start doing it, it screws up my shoulder so much that it's days before it finally stops grinding and popping and that is just not worth it to me. So... what…

Last post tonight, honest... ;-) I finished my challenges for the week, was under on calories every day, and drank more than enough water. I also successfully completed Week 2 of C25K today and walked another 40 minutes after that was done. I am feeling really good and I've lost another inch off my waist this week and I've…

Heofon's name is John and even though "heofon" didn't really refer to a superhero, don't be deceived ... he really is one. :) I also thought kiltbunny was a hilarious story and I was not expecting it. :) Mommaski is an awesome nickname and you should be so proud. I didn't know you were a Marine mom, and that just makes me…

Hey Jessica... sorry to hear about your mom. :( Hope she's feeling better soon. Also it's a bummer about having to do 4 years of school instead of 3. Maybe with the extra year you can fit in some interesting classes just for fun? I took Classical Guitar and 3-D Design (sculpture) one semester... not terribly useful, but…

Oh, yeah... I was also going to say... YOU WERE IN A BAND??? THAT IS SO COOL!!!!!!!!!! :noway: Were you a singer or did you play an instrument or both? What was the style of music? Did you sound anything like Blink 182? Anyway... very impressed. :)
