Thanks everyone for the responses! Sweets are one of my top ways to go overboard too. Ice cream, cake, donuts...

I read the first part. That was good. Thanks for sharing!

Also, what is ant+ technology? Is that where it transmits to an elliptical?

Does the polar h7 do all those things you described that the wahoo does?

Just looking for the strap with Bluetooth so I can sync it to my phone.

What is ant+? Free chocolate sounds good...

Thank you everyone. :) I think I just get mentally hung up at a certain point and weight where it seems hard to lose anymore. I am at a healthy bmi, but I want to lose about 23 pounds. It would put me on the lower end of a healthy bmi, so I am not trying to become anorexic. When I graduated from high school, I was at the…

I will agree with those who said not eating late at night seems to help with better sleep. I feel like that is true for me. I am not trying to claim to know whether eating late at night affects weight loss or not as long as you eat within your calorie limit. But I did seem to remember reading something a while back about…

I did not experience any symptoms with mine. I had blood work done around age 20 or 21 just to check overall health before I got married. It was discovered that my levels were slightly off then. My sister has Graves' disease, which is much harder to control than mine (Hashimoto's) from what I understand. I have really not…

I do. Mine is well-controlled through daily thyroid medication. If you can get it under control with medicine, I wouldn't think you need any special diet or exercise other than what mfp recommends. :) I have lost over 30 pounds in the last few years, btw. I don't find my thyroid to be a disadvantage.

Thanks to all of you who commented! I feel sort of dumb for asking, as it should be obvious that cardio is good for your heart. I just was starting to wonder after seeing some of the posts from weight lifters. I do run usually several times a week, and I have been trying to add in more weight lifting. I wanted to make sure…

I really like the videos on fitnessblender's website.

Thanks so much!

Thanks for the feedback! Glad to know I'm not the only one who noticed the struggle with running when increasing weight training. I have a 5k in September that I would like to be faster for, but I just feel like it's a struggle to go faster. Maybe I should slow down a little with the weights until that race is over.

Great job!

I tried Higdon's intermediate 10k plan. It was pretty intense. Maybe try only one day a week for your long run instead of having several days a week where you're supposed to run more than a 5k. Or as someone else mentioned, try his beginner 10k plan.

I am using fitness blender videos and recently purchased some heavier adjustable Dumbbells. I get really sore from some of their videos, so I figure it's challenging me enough for now!

@madrose0715 thank you!! :) @astrose00 it is like on Facebook. You type the @ sign then someone's username.

@madrose0715 did you see my question earlier? (I just realized I can tag people.)
-
Mad rose, you are doing great! Can you share what your strength training is like? How long did it take you to go from the first picture to the second?

5'9" currently around 150. I have had a goal of getting to 145, but overall I would just like to build muscle and lose fat. Some days I feel thin at this weight, some days I dont.

What is an oly bar? And thanks for the advice.

I personally like to use the fitnessblender videos. I noticed that she uses the Powerblock weights and they get overall great reviews (of course some negative, but mostly positive) on amazon.

I should probably clarify that it hasn't taken 2 years of consistent calorie deficits to lose that weight. I have gone through phases of deficits and maintaining and even gaining back a few pounds and re-losing here and there.

I remembered reading this a while back. http://www.health.com/health/article/0,,20602924,00.html The time you eat may have some impact on weight loss according to this article.

I have heard the 10% rule--check this out. http://www.runnersworld.com/running-tips/10-percent-rule?page=single Make sure you don't push too hard too fast. Build up your mileage gradually. I have been running about a year and a half now. I remember friends saying I was "building my base" at first. I now try to run 4-5 days…

I am 5'9" and have been stuck around 152-154 for a while. I started in the 190's.I haven't been diligent to stick under my calorie goals recently, so it's definitely not a plateau. I m trying to make he final push to my goal weight of 145. I may want to go a bit lower once I see how that weight feels.
-
Thanks, everyone!
-
Thanks, ladies. I am about 153 right now. My goal has been 145, but I am not sure it should be lower. I guess I can re-evaluate at 145.

Do you think maybe you're not eating enough? I am no expert on this, but I recently was seeing my weight loss slow down and felt like I was at a plateau. I read about base metabolic rate, and I decided to make my new calorie goal my bmr instead of 1200. Do you eat your exercise calories? I eat my exercise calories, and…
