Thank you to all who responded! :)

1440 is my goal for calories, I think. I eat back exercise calories generally, so most days that’s maybe an extra 200ish. I have almost 25 pounds to lose.
-
I just checked the actual Pacer app and it shows I had over 900 active calories burned yesterday. I guess it’s just some glitch if I don’t sync at the end of the day.

@heybales I have been using the Pacer app per your suggestion to import/translate my days’ activities and calories into MyFitnessPal. It’s mostly seeming to work well. One issue I have seen though is that when I sync my activity the next day instead of the day it was done, the calories seem way off. For example, yesterday…

Thank you! This makes me feel better. It seems like sometimes when I am doing more exercise that it’s giving me less calories back. I will look up the Pacer app.

I have MyFitnessPal pulling steps from my Apple Watch (under steps setting) plus under connected apps, I selected the Health app from my iPhone. So my Apple Watch is pushing information to the health app on my phone, and MyFitnessPal is pulling that data from my health app. Each day whenever I exercise and track it via my…

I think the whoosh guess is a good one. I had maintained my weight for the week before surgery.
-
I was. Not the best weight loss plan, but hey, it’s something. Haha :)

I have a question. I took a week off my calorie restriction because of appendicitis and resulting appendectomy. I had been adhering pretty closely to my plan before but weight had been very slow in coming off. I decided after surgery to not count for the week (I know this isn’t a true diet break—I wasn’t counting calories…

Has this study been discussed here yet? It’s one in Australia where they had obese men doing 2 weeks on (2/3 maintenance calories) and 2 weeks off (eating at maintenance calories) vs. a group who just ate at the deficit amount for 16 weeks straight. The ones who took breaks had better results overall.…
-
Also, when you start a diet break (eating at maintenance), is it typical to initially see weight loss or weight gain or do most people just stabilize?
-
Thank you! This is so helpful!

I wondered if anyone on here has advice for me. I have about 20 pounds to lose (for reference—5’9” female and goal weight is 145). I am considering the idea of several weeks on (calorie deficit) and some amount of days/weeks off (eating at maintenance level), then starting the cycle over again. Is there an ideal ratio for…

Thank you! This is really useful info.

I am the OP, but I found this article very helpful from Harvard health blog about the keto diet: https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/ketogenic-diet-is-the-ultimate-low-carb-diet-good-for-you-2017072712089

Just FYI, my weight returned to where I was the morning of the day I ate so high. So it took me 4 days. (Ate up Friday, back to starting weight Tuesday after eating at a deficit Sat-Mon.)

Haha!

Thanks for the feedback! :)

I don’t know how much sodium affects my weight usually, but I looked at my log from yesterday. I was over 5,000 mg of sodium for the day. That should probably be higher because my salad at home at lunch included ingredients I had prepared with salt that I didn’t count the salt content.

Never mind. I think I got it figured out directly through the Fitbit website.

I am interested in the cellular so I can leave my phone home and be able to call someone if I have an emergency.

Thanks for the responses!

I have been counting calories on MyFitnessPal. Did this about 5 years ago and the weight seemed to come off fairly quickly. I let myself gain about 20 pounds over the last couple years, so I have been trying to get it off. Now it doesn’t seem to be budging much.
-
I pretty much weigh daily. I know weight fluctuates and that weight loss isn’t linear. But sometimes knowing that in your head doesn’t translate to not feeling frustration at that number going up despite eating at a deficit and working out hard.
-
Those are good points. I would appreciate educational, but I guess I already have a bias of my own.

Thanks everyone for the input!

I can very much relate to this. I lost about 20 pounds and kept it off for about 2-3 years (not sure exact time) and then started to let it creep back on. Needing to lose 15 to get to a weight where I think I would feel good and clothes would fit. Another 15 from that would be more of a dream weight.

Thank you ladies for sharing! This is the range of what I want to lose, so it’s great to see what a difference it could make! Way to go on your hard work!

Would you set your goal to losing half a pound a week or a pound then?
