With proper diet it will definitely help! I'm proof of that.. But adding strength and cross training has been a huge factor for me as well. Good luck!

20-30 or so, it really depends on training.

I often go through the same line of thinking. I KNOW the girl in the mirror is not the 230 lb chick that was there 2+ years ago but sometimes it's the only reflection I see. I walked around for a long time thinking that was also the girl people see when they see me. I am now learning to accept that that is not the case.…

I've used them on my running shoes to run in snow. Last winter we got about 6 inches or so and I was dying to run. lol I just slipped them over the shoes and out the door I went. They feel a little weird at first and I probably wouldn't have gone for a super long run in them unless I had to. I didnt have any issues with…

Just incorporate interval/speed training into at least one of your runs. How many days a week you run should be based on how you feel. If you feel great running everyday, fine. The con... injury. Over training can lead to injury.

If you have time to fit in an 11 mile and then 12 mile run, then it won't hurt. If you can run 10 miles...you can definitely go for 13.1... just think of it as having only a 5k left! Good luck with the rest of your training. You will do great!!!!

It depends. I listen to a lot of music so I catch myself singing while I run a lot. I reflect on my day, if I am running in the evening... I think about my kids, my journey, various things.

Here. And I pretty much feel the same way as you. I feel strong and healthy. I am by no means a fast runner but I don't believe that lifting keeps me from being speedy.

First of all, don't set a time goal to lose. Create a healthy eating plan. Follow it. Walk, run... get outside and move your body. Good luck! You can do it. Be patient with your body.

Fleet Feet? Not sure if there is one in that area. I know TN has a few locations though. They are really great at working with you to fit you for the best shoe for your needs.

It might have been a little less rude if you had smiled and said hi to her and engaged in a friendly conversation rather than asking, "May I help you?" I am big on teaching my kids not to stare because it is rude. IF a child stares at me for some reason I typically try to be positive and friendly about it.

I wear compression tights.. no undies! In the summer I wear Nike compression shorts under my tempo shorts.

I don't look at it as a diet but a lifestyle change. I started in April 2009. And I haven't looked back. However, over the course of the last year I have maintained my weight. Looking to lose the last 15-20 or so and I'm not overly concerned with how long it takes me. I'm finally fit and like how I feel.

I use a handheld water bottle (Nathan handheld). It is usually enough to carry me through even my longest (13.1) runs plus it has a small pocket i can stash my key and gels in. I have not had much luck with a belt. I have a FuelBelt but haven't actually used it much.

My hubby and I are going as Batman and Batgirl. I figured it's the least constricting for running.

Ran my 2nd half marathon on Oct 2nd (2:23:05), a 5 minute PR. Running my 3rd half marathon (mostly for fun) on Oct 29th.

For the most part (now) I do. I still have "ugly" days though.

Sharon - sounds like a great run! Great pace for the long run!!!

I use to weight daily...multiple times a day. But I have decided to not let the scale control me/define who I am, so I very rarely weigh myself. Maybe once a month now. Beginning next week I am participating in a challenge at my gym and will have to weigh in once a week. I am kind of nervous about that as I have really…

<<--- Drinks 2 Diet Cokes a day and has successfully lost 70 lbs! :) I also run 4 days a week and workout a total of 5-6 days a week. I also have a piece of chocolate a day, in addition to a cup of coffee or two. And I use Splenda in my coffee. And yeah, I realize it contains toxins BUT I'd rather drink a diet soda rather…
