Lap band, where do I begin? Went to get an adjustment today (4 years post op) and was told by my doctor that they are doing more reversals than procedures. I lost 70 lbs and gained back 30, while exercising and eating right. The band just did not help me, plus I have odd working hours and other factors that hinder weight…

I gave up caffeine 3 years ago. You won't miss the caffeine and in fact, you will be more awake without the chemicals. Plus, caffeine is a diuretic and leads to dehydration. Decaf coffee has a trace of caffeine, so I only have a cup every few days to get the taste. I drink decaf green and black tea, because, as a previous…

When I moved my entire apartment, the time I carried HEAVY boxes up and down the stairs multiple times each day, so I counted it. What's the difference between being in a gym and lifting weights and lifting a heavy box and carrying it up 17 stairs? Your body doesn't know you are in the gym, your mind does. So I say if you…

Low impact areobics. That's how I log it!

I met my boyfriend on match.com and we are like two peas in a pod. Seriously, patience is a big part of the whole online dating process. I gave up so many times but something was always bringing me back.

Just go to skinnytaste.com. It's just awesome. Tons of zucchini recipes.

People who use "text" language in posts (ex. c u l8tr. ur gr8t). People who write "I need to loose weight." And, finally, people who do not know the difference between your and you're. Thanks for letting me vent.

I prefer outside. I find myself fixating on the numbers on the treadmill, while outside, it's just me, my iPod and my thoughts. I can go for much longer outside, too. The other day, I did 90 minutes with no problems!

If you have a smart phone, download Pandora, and look for Pop Fitness Radio. It's perfect for the gym!

As much as we all don't want to admit it, physical attraction IS a big part of a relationship. You have to be attracted to your partner on all levels. And, I met my boyfriend online, but on match.com.

Had to weigh in here...(sorry for the pun) but my nutritionist said that the all day eating is NOT good, that your body needs time between meals to process the food you take in at breakfast, lunch and dinner. 2.) Frequency of Eating: The typical American diet is to skip breakfast, grab a decent lunch, over-eat at supper…

I think you may become bored or be really hungry. Protein is so key...and it's hard to get a lot from just fruits and vegetables.

I added up salad calories with the following items: chick peas, cucumbers, 2 tbs of 2% cheddar, one slice of turkey bacon, a few croutons, 2 cups of lettuce, dressing (1 tbs of regular ranch, 1 tbs light barbecue sauce), and a whole tomato. It surprised me that it was close to 400 calories, for a salad, before I added the…

I felt the same way in July, like my lapband let me down, but it was ME not using the amazing tool that is the lapband. I started doing everything the previous posters said to do. I also have amazing friends who are as in to fitness and nutrition as I am. And, what is your protein intake? I do between 80 and 100 g a day!…

I drink. I just budget it in and make sure I hit my exercise and protein goals before I have my wine. Today for example, I had wine. Tomorrow I add more to my work out. I am losing, too. Do not think you have to deprive yourself. Just make sure you budget for it!

It happens to all of us when our bodies get used to a new way. And to the Dukan dieter...hope you can keep up with that the rest of your life...that's why portion control and exercise are the only things that will ever work for the long haul, and of course, determination.

I just thought of something. Any fad diet has been proven not to work. Look at Tommy Lasorda and Slimfast, or even Oprah with her shakes. She is a huge advocate of healthy eating and activity. I guess I don't get the fad diet thing, but like I said, 500 calories sounds dangerous to me.
-
DIET. That's the key word. Weight loss and healthy living is a lifestyle change, not a diet. And I agree, what kind of energy do you get when you only consume 500 calories a day?

You sound just like me...my highest weight was 270 and a size 22 pant. I know exactly how you feel...but the good news is, this site works! I am down to a 12! You can do it! Just keep logging in every day and feel free to add me. :) Best of luck!

Excellent advice!

A lot of the so called "light" yogurts have the chemical sweetners in them, too.

I find that knowing my friends are reading my food journal and exercise journal keeps me on track. They are hard core so it helps me to make the right choices as well.

Tazo Awake is a great black tea.

I keep my size 20S jeans in there as a reminder of what I never want to be. Congrats on the huge victory today! YAY!

Glad you all enjoyed it! Every time I think "eh, I don't want to walk today" (I have a bad knee and have tried running, it's just too painful, I walk really fast though, LOL) I think about Lysa and her struggle to get back out there. I have heard, and have given, every excuse in the book. Once it clicks for people, it…

Chobani, Yoplait, Brown Cow, they're all good.

Unless it is all from fatty meats, I wouldn't sweat going over on protein. According to my doctor, I am supposed to have 80g a day and MFP has me at 45g.
-
I agree. You have to WANT it, if you don't want it, you will find every excuse not to do it. It's as simple as that. No one here is going to stroke you and say "it's ok, you'll be fine." They will tell you straight up, if you don't do the work, you won't reap the rewards. Losing weight is a lifetime committment and you…

I just work out extra hard to enjoy a cocktail. We actually walk to the bars, too... I know, I need help, LOL!

I don't think of what I am doing as a diet, but a lifestyle change. I had beer and pizza on Sunday and recorded it in my food diary. Then I worked out extra hard this week. The food diary is the greatest thing, ever. I swear, I think twice about what I eat because I know my friends are looking at it! Good luck!
