I would also take the work "paleo" and "primal" out of the conversation. Most people, doctors included, feel the terms equal fad diet. I would state I'm concentrating on eating whole meats, veggies, fruits and nuts. I have found I feel best when I don't eat grains and sugars. Along with your weight loss, I bet you will get…

So the favor is better then? hmm sounds like a good project for a snowy weekend.

Thanks for posting. It is interesting. And I would never have guessed he was 74 y/o! I would have put him in the mid 60s.

Hmm we don't have a Costco but have Sam's. I buy free range eggs, organic spinach, bananas, avocados, organic olive oil, citrus fruits, organic berries. I have never thought of looking for kerrigold butter though, I will have to look.

Awesome results!!! I'm happy to here you got those results with a 85/15 plan (I myself have the 90/10 to 80/20 plan going on!)

To truly be paleo, no. Peanuts are legumes. But almond butter, sun butters and cashew butters are good to go. I personally use lots of coconut oil, grassfed butters (primal not paleo), avocados, and meats.

And don't be afraid of fat. My fat accounts for 50%+ of my calories now and I have NEVER felt better.

I've found that I needed to play with the spices for my mayo. I do 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of dry mustard. Then I make the mayo, I put half of it in the fridge and the other half I beat in a 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper for spicy mayo (nothing is better with sweet…

All you can do is make the suggestion and lead by example. Plus I don't know about you, when I first heard about Paleo, I said "There is no way in hell I will try it." However, the more I learned the more it reasonated with me. I have known for a long period of time that wheat bothers me and I'm addicted to sugar. But…

Are you eating a lot of asparagus? Asparagus does it for me (and that is normal). I would think a lot of sulfur veggies might as well. And I know ketosis can make you breathe smell and you urinate ketones.

Great job! I agree under 100 is the magic #!!!

I never had rutabagas either until this past weekend, I made this and it was very good. http://paleomg.com/rutabaga-bacon-breakfast-hash/ I still have 1/2 a rutabaga, I may try the fries.

I have noticed that with my increased fat consumption my hair is so shiny. My complexion just glows are well. My Mom says my eyes are brighter (I'm unsure what that means.) Gotta love it.

Hmm I never thought of adding cocoa to it.....

Welcome!! I recommend you reading Practical Paloe or It start with Food. Both are excellent resources. Paleo is basically no sugar, no grains, no legumes (why peanuts are legumes) and depending on how strict you are no diary. With these rules 99.9% of processed food is out. However you can eat whole foods and this is not a…

From my understanding, any pure spice is ok. Paprika, I believe, is a type of pepper that is dried and ground. I have discovered I love paprika as well. I would closely watch spice mixes though (steak seasoning/chili seasoning) as they stick a lot of crap in them. I have to say I make my own spice mixes.

I've always said, I learn more from the bad days than from the good ones.

Awesome thanks!

Yeah this formula took me from obese to overweight!!!

We do the 5 for $50.00 meat box. Usually add a whole chicken to it. It's enough meat to last 2 paleo (my hubby and I) peeps a week and half to 2 weeks. My husband can tell you if it's grocery store beef or Mosely's by taste.

It's across the street from the chef's house and across the street from the cane's. There is a jewelry repair, drive thru, tanning place in the strip mall. I believe it is the northeast side of the intersection. Here's the website. http://www.mosleysmeatmarket.com/

Yes, my hunger is different. It is no longer urgent and I can go longer without eating. It's more natural. ****************** And on a side note, HilliardJoe, I stalked your profile to see if it was Hilliard Ohio. And it is!! Waving to you neighbor!! If you haven't found it yet, there is a gem in the neighborhood. Mosely's…

Those who make their own, what kind of meat do you use?

I also work in an office where food is brought in often. I have a sure fire way to help avoid it and resist it!! I pretend the food has been sneezed and coughed on. If that doesn't work, I'll glance at the food and convince myself I "saw"a bug or worm. Works every time.
-
Oh yes I start everyday out with a bulletproof, mine is a tablespoon of coconut oil and a tablespoon of grass fed butter blended.
-
Honestly, make yourself drink it plain for a bit and you'll get used to it. You'll even learn to love it. My husband thought he was going to die at first. Within 3 weeks, he was loving coffee again.

Thanks all. It does feel better to know I'm not alone. PS. I'm a horrible speller!!! lol

Huh. I have been buying uncured bacon, but I may change to buying bacon at the local butch (all their meats have been pasture raised.)
