  • My NSV this week was that the other day I noticed my watch is so loose now it can spin completely around my wrist! Time to remove a link from the band I guess!
  • There are three grocery stores within walking distance of me. Every Wednesday I look through their adds and only buy whats on sale. I think I've been spending 30-50 a week to feed two people. Today I prepared a giant tray of balsamic roasted veggies and total it cost me about 6-7 bucks for probably a good 10 large servings…
  • You should check out Craig's list for some relatively cheap machines sometimes. It's hit or miss but you can sometimes get good working stationary bikes, gazelles, etc. for less than 50 bucks from people who don't use them anymore.
  • A lot of good and interesting answers. I think a lot of people on the site don't understand or ignore the value of exercise in getting healthy and I wonder if having the reasons (outside of just losing weight) outlined would help them see the light...
  • Welcome and congrats!
  • Did you see the prices? lol... I go to happy hour to eat and not drink... I get the minimum drink allowed and ask for water on the side and take advantage of the cheap food. It's date night for me and the fiancee so we usually go to a happy hour for a cheap dinner and then catch a movie or do something else. I know the…
  • Yeah, I really don't want to be the "stress fracture from a shampoo bottle" guy at the doctor's office...lol. Thanks for the advice. Since this happened about 4-5 days ago I guess I am past the ice part, I will try the heat and see if that helps and check out the Arnica suggestion. I can do the elliptical with little to no…
  • That's true, but if most of your meals don't have sugar in them it's not a bad way to fill calories. They were just examples, my point was that it's pretty easy to find calories to consume.
  • Yeah, I find that if I keep my feet completely flat they start going to sleep... well one of them... I try to "move around" so to speak every now and then. Maybe lean my body forward for a bit, go backwards, or just re adjust the placement of my foot on the machine and it helps.
  • I honestly don't see how people can't reach their calorie goals when it is set at 1200...8 oz of cranberry juice is 140 calories... 8 oz of gatorade is 50 calories. I have to plan my day very carefully to stay under 1400 on days I don't exercise. It seems some people may be cutting back way too much on the things they…
  • Yeah man, cardio is great. What I do to keep my cardio challenging and make me feel accomplished is make sure to do a variety of routines and try to push myself a little harder every time. I went from barely being able to do a minute at 6 miles an hour to being about to do almost 2 full miles at that pace and I am now…
  • Yeah, the diary shows you like to stick with easier food options, which is understandable, but can limit your options as far as nutrition and variety. I try to make my own food most of the time instead of relying on kits and so forth. I'd much rather have a large filling salad for lunch than a protein bar. Another thing I…
  • one of my favorites lately is a wrap. I use: no lard flour tortillas (trader joes gives you 8 big ones for 2.99) - 140 cal 50/50 Spring Salad Mix (any salad mix will do, I get it for 1 to 2 dollars a bag - 20 cal Kraft Light Parmesan Asiago Vinagrette (bout 2 bucks a bottle) - 40 cal Any shredded cheese I might have Any…
  • I'm not sure what the threshold is where it appears, but I wouldn't want it to appear for everyone to see as that would have the opposite effect of potentially embarrassing people publicly who are already fighting other issues. On my wall I either see a "Completed food diary for the day" or a "completed food diary for the…
  • I rest on weekends and have noticed that my weight loss usually comes over the weekend. I still stick to my calories on weekends and sometimes log active things I do (like walking park trails, etc.) but usually on the monday when I weight myself I see the biggest drop. Not sure of the science but they do say your body…
  • If you don't eat enough it doesn't congratulate you, it tells you it is bad for you. I know this because I accidentally hit complete entry after lunch one day and instead of a congratulations it had a red warning about not eating enough. So it only does it when you are under a certain amount, not when you are starving…
  • Is the spreadsheet going to be open or do we post our updates here? For me I need to change my starting weight for August to 217 and my CW right now is 213.
  • http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Neckband-Headphones-SHS5200-28/dp/B003CJTR8M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312677122&sr=8-1 those are the headphones I use and they are cheap and GREAT! They wrap around and never come off (i use then to lift weights, walk, elliptical, and treadmill) the part on the back that wraps around is…
  • Yes you can buy them individually and it is all about what works for you. The G series is just supposed to be a way of making it simple to have your body get certain nutrients before and after exercise. If you find that you are having trouble doing this yourself and would want a simple approach to it then the series is…

  • I've never tried the entire series. I drink the G2 (which is the regular gatorade) lo calorie version every day I work out... it gives me 80 calories per 32 oz bottle and no sugar since it uses some substitutes but I don't mind the taste at all. The G Fit series is just an even more calorie reduced version of the G series…

  • It all depends on the person... no one shoe brand no matter how expensive is going to be an end all cure all. I currently use two pairs that cost me a combined 30 bucks and I am fine. I bought some fancy nikes a few years back and instantly sprained my ankle severely... they just weren't the right shoes for me. So it…
  • I go for fruit and veggies when I need some filler. Those steamer bags that cook in the bag in the microwave save me a ton of time and make it so I have a bigger tendency to eat veggies since I have minimal prep and clean up. Sugar free peanut butter is also good, ton of calories in just two tablespoons.
  • For me they tend to be high. Even compared to the machines in the gym. The machines in the gym will tell me one number and MFP will give me more if I just enter time, so I always go with the lowest number. With walking I've tried different things, using adidas micoach and also a calculator online and I found both to be…
  • I do cardio 5x a week... I do strength training 3x a week where I try to up my number and then 2x a week I do light weight toning where I just do a lot of reps with light weights... I've lost an avg of 2 pounds a week, but I feel great and I feel stronger so this has been working for me.
  • When I first started getting into exercise I started with the elliptical... it takes into account your weight and age and it has different intensity levels. I do the weight loss program that automatically sets the intervals and it is way easier than treadmill to me, but when I ramp up the resistance it can be a challenge…
  • I've heard that ankle weights are horrible for you and I've known someone who had to get surgery for the damage done by them over time. I heard the best way to go is a weight vest or anything that centers the added weight around your mid section. Walmart or other stores should have basic weighted vests you can buy.
  • Another thing to consider is what someone said in another thread, which is the fact that calculating how many calories you burned during exercise is not accurate all of the time. Some machines will over estimate and others will under estimate, and unless you have one of those monitor things, the best you do is probably a…
  • I eat back the bulk of my calories and have lost weight each week for the two weeks I have been here. The site works this into your calorie total but it is not a perfect science. Everybody's body is different and everybody's lifestyle is different. When I first joined I put I had an "active" lifestyle because I do…
  • I was wondering the same thing, but in my case I find drinks that are either low cal or no cal. I really like Lipton Diet Peach Tea, it says it has no calories or sugar, so would there be any negative effects of drinking it?
  • I love spicy food, good to know. I try to stay away from hot sauce since it has so much salt.
